Top 10 Things to do in Cité, Canton of Geneva

January 7, 2022 Flossie Demartino

The shores of Lake Geneva have attracted visitors and invaders for millennia. The cheerful city of Geneva sits on the lake's western shore, lofty snowcapped peaks creating a gorgeous backdrop on all sides. The city is perfect for exploring on foot; rent a bike to venture further. The top of any itinerary should be visits to Geneva's lakefront and its famed water fountain, the Flower Clock in the English Garden, St. Peter's Cathedral, Reformation Wall, Place Neuve and the birthplace of the U.N.

We really enjoyed Secret Chamber. Lots of fun and creative clues and games, a gorgeous room, lovely staff, very good prices and a good story behind the mystery. Just two of us playing, including a complete beginner and we solved the ‘normal’ level in 55min. Loved it!

I have to say the entire watch making experience with Initium was absolutely fantastic. I travelled from england with my father for my 30th and his 70th. We both have an unhealthy obsession with watches and this was the perfect trip for the boys. We learnt so much throughout the day and have such wonderful memories assembling our timepiece. The lesson was informative and the assembly of our watch was enjoyable from start to finish. The whole experience is very relaxed and certainly does not feel pretentious in any way. The lunch time meal was also delightful - we had whatever we wanted off the menu and got to sit with a passionate watchmaker who was only too happy to talk about his experiences. I would also like to mention that I had a few minor issues when I returned back to England, but the aftercare service from Maylis at Initium has been exceptional. You just dont get the personal touch and service these days, so this has been very refreshing. To summarise, if you are a watch novice like me, but love watches and everything about them - go on an initium course!

Musee Barbier-Mueller

Simply the best examples of African, Oceanic, and prehistoric sculpture that I have ever seen. This gem of a small museum is in the Old Town of Geneva, Switzerland, which itself is a delight for old streets, and convivial sidewalk cafes and warm restaurants. The museums holdings, collected early by a family of connoisseurs, redefines the meaning of blockbuster: it could be just half a dozen small pieces if they are the best of the best.

Archeological Site at St. Pierre's Cathedral

Reviewed By hh219 - Ann Arbor, United States

My husband and I really enjoyed this 18 stop audio tour of the crypt at St. Pierre. I think archaeology is interesting and loved the videos where the team talked some about how they excavated the site. A few of the stops were a little less engaging than others, but overall I liked learning about how the function of the site has changed over time and about how it influenced the development of Geneva.
