Jungfraujoch

Icy air streams across your face, snow crunches under your feet, and the view nearly takes your breath away: on one side the view of the Mittelland up to the Vosges, on the other the Aletsch glacier, bordered by four thousand metre peaks. Standing on the Jungfraujoch 3,454 metres above sea level, you can feel it with your first step: this is a different world. It's one you have to experience.

Old City

Reviewed By hajshere - Mumbai, India

Bern is so underrated as a place to visit when it comes to Switzerland, even though it's the capital. I cannot comprehend why, maybe more people need to visit. You definitely need to visit Bern, it's a mesmerising mix of both old world drop dead gorgeous charm and the very well behaved new.The medieval architecture is preserved beautiful in the Altstadt (Old Town). I loved walking the cobblestone streets, learning how the old has been adopted to new eg: underground hideouts like basements of olden days are now boutiques and salons. The city, the houses around the beautiful River Aare make a breathtaking sight. The natural scene is beyond post card picture perfect. It's pure Magic. The Swiss are my kinda people and Bern has my heart, If I ever move somewhere this would be it.

Harder Kulm

At an altitude of 1,322 m, the Harder Kulm offers the best view of Interlaken, Eiger Mönch and Jungfrau as well as the Thun and Lake Brienz. The palatial restaurant and the Two Lakes Bridge viewing platform are an enticing place to spend time. The cable car, not far from the Interlaken Ost train station on the Harder, has been operational for more than 100 years. The Talstation building has remained without major alterations to the original design as it was in the early years after the turn of the century, and is one of Interlaken's listed buildings. For connoisseurs and those in search of a view, the Harder railway takes just ten minutes to reach the Interlaken Hausberg. The 1,449-metre mountain journey largely goes through the forest, surmounting 731 metres in altitude at an incline of 64%.

From very close to the town center you can take a funicular to the “Top of Interlaken” for stunning views of the 2 lakes and the landscape. It had rained earlier the day we went but had mostly cleared by the time we ventured out. Initially there were scattered clouds below us but they gradually disappeared...and then reappeared and disappeared again. Life in the mountains. A nice restaurant with both indoor and outdoor seating and incredible views sits at the top after a short walk from the funicular terminal. The brave can opt to walk back down (2 1/2 hours I think it said) but it would have been slick that day.

The gondola cableway has a capacity of up to 1,200 persons per hour with a travelling time of approximately 25 minutes. Aside from the gondola cableway, Firstbahn AG also has three chairlifts and two ski lifts.

The mighty Trummelbach Falls are cased inside the Lauterbrunnen valley wall and for a small fee, you can take a lift and walk higher up the falls to witness it gush, twist and turn all the way down to the valley floor. Amazing in any weather. It can get cool and wet inside, so be prepared with proper clothing.

Thunersee

Reviewed By CPaM68 - Texas, United States

A boat ride around the lake that stopped at the tourist attractions/destinations sounded great. Although we were concerned about several aspects of the Hop-On, Hop-Off cruise, such as how many stops did it make, how long was the interval until the next boat arrived, and did it make a complete round-trip, that is what we had initially planned to do. We thought we would find the answers to those questions at the boat dock office in Interlaken. All that fell through when we were unable to find the dock from which the boat departed. In retrospect, it probably worked out better since our day trip driving around the north side of Lake Thun was extremely enjoyable and provided some great sights of the beautiful shoreline. We were also able to spend as long as we wanted at each stop and visited some places that the boat does not stop. I think our favorites were the St. Beatus Hoehlen caverns, Oberhofen Castle, and the ride up to the Niederhorn. At many spots, you are treated to fantastic panoramic views of Lake Thun and the Bernese Alps. Even if you’re visiting during the summer, you may want to bring a light jacket since the wind off the lake is rather cool. Also, several of the car park lots at the various stops are for-pay lots, so make sure you have some coins. We toured the lake on a weekday and, surprisingly, it wasn’t very busy.

First Cliff Walk by Tissot

Reviewed By Shaunsutton - Leicester, United Kingdom

Stayed here for four days in September, spent a day catching the cable car to First via Bort and Schrekfeld. The cliff walk was fantastic, amazing views over the mountains and valleys, really peaceful. Restaurants we very good. Zip wire from First to Schrekfeld was brilliant then three wheeled go cart down to Bort was great, finally the scooter down to Grindelwald was excellent.
