Drakensberg Boys Choir School

The Drakensberg Boys Choir School is one of the few South African Schools whose fame extends around the world. This school offers a unique educational opportunity for boys; it stimulates their spirit of adventure and exploration in our beautiful surroundings, while nurturing the development of the mind and expression in innate musical talent. Set on a 100Ha estate, the school draws its inspiration from the majestic Drakensberg Mountains, a World Heritage Site in KwaZulu-Natal, and is filled with the sound of boys singing, surely one of the purest of musical delights in the world. Don't miss our popular Wednesday concerts at 15h30, every Wednesday during term time!

What an entertaining & thought provoking time was spent at the Drakensberg boys choir today. The first half was beautiful, a wonderful blend of traditional classical choral music with a touch of Africa - from Bach’s Gloria to Dr Seuss’s Mr Grinch The second half entitled Lalela Zulu - celebrating 25 years of freedom was non stop energy singing and a powerful message - we must honour the South African past and what we have overcome as a nation and move forward together - learning from the people abuses of the past and not losing strength for the right actions going forward. Thank you for this brave and thought provoking presentation in the singing, the energy and the slide show presentations. This is worth traveling long distances to attend.

As a family of four, we only had a night to get away and wanted to test our camping skills out. We hadn't planned to do a ride, though Jordan, our friendly host assured us as novice riders that the Sunset Ride came highly recommended. She wasn't wrong. It truly was a magical experience! The sweet, sure footed horses and excellent guides made the whole adventure feel exciting and challenging yet our comfort and safety was accounted for. The panoramic views of the valleys and Underberg Mountains completed the experience. Watching the sunset atop a horse in a vast open space does wonders for the soul.

All Out Adventures

All Out Adventures , situated in the unspoilt KZN Northern Drakensberg just off the R74, mid way between Joburg and Durban, offers 7 awesome activities at one spectacular venue. Highlights include SA’s fastest Cable Tour, Adventure Quad Trails, 50kms of marked mountain bike trails, and a hair raising 17 meter free fall King Swing accessed by a wooden spiral stair case that snakes 21 meters to the tree tops. The activities are all visible from our coffee shop lawn, so the less adventurous members of the party can kick back with a giant cappuccino and still feel like part of the action. Having said that though, no special skills or fitness are required to participate in the activities, and our professional (and patient!) staff are passionate about sharing these experiences, so there’s really no excuse not to get involved!

Ushaka Horse Trails

Reviewed By laurenhowden

My husband, myself and our two children enjoyed the most wonderful 2hr outride with Ushaka. The horses were well looked after and the guides were experienced. We saw beautiful sights, dismounting at the top of a hill to take in the beauty of the mountains around us. We saw amazing birds of prey and even an owl protecting her nest. We so enjoyed the experience, I went back a week later with my sister, enjoying another exciting outride. I highly recommend Ushaka Horse Trails and the capable couple that run it.
