Myself and my wife visited the the place and we were so pleased with the owners, their care for the place (and region) and for this piece of aviation and literature history that seems to be fading each day. We had so great discussions about the writer, aspects of our local history and so much more that time just flew pleasantly and made us want to come back again. It’s really worth it to visit and discover that part of our history and, especially, to share time with such wonderful hosts.

Cervejaria Brewpoint

Brewpoint is the result of the union of craft brewers from the city of Petrópolis who fulfilled the dream of having their own factory. Known for its classic styles, the brewery's portfolio includes the following products: IPA, Lager, Munich Dunkel, German Pilsen, Red Ale, Weiss and Witbier. It is the most awarded microbrewery in Rio de Janeiro’s mountain range! It also stands out among Petrópolis craft breweries for its factory size with a capacity of 34,000 liters. The factory is open for visitation during the weekends and offers a Beer Tour. With an hour of duration, the tour covers all stages of production of a craft beer. The brand also has its own restaurant in the city center called Brewgarden, and two bar franchises that sell their beers, as well as snacks, called Brewpoint Express in the Bingen and Corrêas neighborhoods.

Imperial Museum

The Imperial Museum in Petrópolis, Brazil, is one of the most attractive cultural points of interest near Rio de Janeiro. Located in the town's historic center, the museum was once Emperor Pedro II's favorite residence. Today, it is one of the most visited museums in Brazil, with the annual average of 300.000 visitors. The exhibitions tell the Brazilian Empire history through furniture, objects, paintings, sculptures and other historic and artistic pieces that belonged to the imperial family or other people from the 19th century.

In 1845, Dom Pedro I declared Petropolis his summer home. The Imperial Palace was completed in 1864. The neo-classical pink and white building is very beautiful and was used as a royal summer home until Independence in 1889. It was then used as a school and became a state museum in 1943. It houses 300,000 artifacts from the royal reign including the Imperial Crown Jewels. Unfortunately, no photos are allowed inside the museum. I really enjoyed my visit -- it is a very worthwhile day trip from Rio.
