Ballenberg, Swiss Open-Air Museum

More than one hundred centuries-old buildings from all over Switzerland, 200 farmyard animals, traditional, old-time gardens and fields, demonstrations of local crafts and many special events create a vivid impression of rural life in days gone by. Ballenberg is indeed unique.

We had friends visiting and this was a great day out. The setting alone is fantastic and they loved the proximity to the Alps and the views to be had. The museum was great. Everything was available in four languages (German, French, Italian and English). There are plenty of interactive exhibits for the children and the staff were all helpful and friendly. There were lots of picnic areas so it would be easy to make a full day of it with older kids. There is a lot of walking, so for our small kids a half-day was enough for them.

Museum of Communication

The Apple1, chips under the skin or an original escape vehicle of a century old? The Museum for Communication takes a close look at interpersonal communication in all its forms. Direct, personal and individual: in addition to interactive stations, surprising objects and large-format video screens, flesh and blood people also convey the fascination of the world of communication. For this innovative invention, the museum received the renowned European Council Museum Prize in 2019. The museum combines content and experience in a playful way - and is therefore interesting for all age groups. Thanks to a discovery trail for children, it is ideal for families.

Omega Museum

Reviewed By Nvazmar - Malaga, Spain

As a Swiss top brand it is a cool place to visit and learn about watch making history.I definitely recommend it to do when in Biel. There is a short film projection quite amazing. You can visit it with children and teenagers. There is a beautiful park with a river besides the building where you can walk and see the ducks or lie in the sun (there are big comfortable hammocks) And there is an original playground at the bottom of the park all made from wood and with fluffy floors.I have to say that the architecture of the Omega building it is an impressive thing to see from the outside. It makes you feel you are already in the future.
