Top 10 Specialty lodgings in Cyprus, Cyprus

April 29, 2023 Jeremy Dunfee

The legendary birthplace of the goddess Aphrodite, Cyprus has been coveted and fought over by a succession of admirers: Mycenaeans, Egyptians, Assyrians and Persians, to name a few. The former British colony was most recently fought over by the Turks and the Greeks. A result of this turbulent past is an impressive range of cultural treasures, from Crusader castles to the tomb of Mohammed's aunt. The island's geography - plentiful coastline with a mountainous center - ensures plenty of year-round activity.

Stayed here for a week with the Mrs and 11 year old lad. Having seen a few negative reviews, was a little bit nervous about what we would find - needn’t have worried! Lovely hotel with a waterpark which is ideal for anyone with kids 2 - 15. We enjoyed the food and as all inclusive, the beer/spirits were in plentiful supply. Yes, there are bits which could do with a bit of TLC, but after 2 years of Covid restrictions it still looks great in the main. About a 5min walk to the main ‘strip’ leading down to Coral Bay beach - which is a further 10 minute walk (although i was underwhelmed with the beach). Paphos harbour (beautiful) is about 25 mins on the bus which runs from Coral Bay. 2 pools at the hotel. I would definitely return to this hotel

Panthea Holiday Village

Great family holiday

Reviewed By jenniferjS7687LH

Just got back from panthea after an amazing 9 nights stay. We are a party of 2 families with kids age 5yrs, 2 are age 9yrs and 14 yrs. After reading some bad reviews from previous guests I was a bit concerned but they where sooooo wrong. Accommodation We emailed the hotel before arrival and requested pools views. To my delight we got what we had requested. (Ground floor stepping out to the pool). We stayed in block 1403 which and 1406. The rooms where clean on arrival and cleaners came every 2-3 days. The plug sockets where all English one's so no need to take travel plugs. Lots of clean towels and clean bed linen was provided on request. Shampoo, conditioner, soap and toilet rolls all provided when cleaners attend.Hairdryers are in rooms. Our bathroom shaver plug was sealed off but another room wasn't so it's pot luck. We had plug sockets available where the other families where sealed off but no problems as there where 4-5 plug sockets per room. No bugs or cockroaches seen all holiday, only friendly cats and 1 hedgehog. Air-conditioning was fab. You do need too keep the key card in the slot and the door closed for it to stay on. OK for us as we got sunbeds outside our room so could leave it on all day and have easy access to rooms throughout the day. If I had to nit pick I would say have handles on sliding doors from outside. Kids opening doors smear suncream all over glass and does not look nice. Entertainment We stayed over whitsun week and no problem with sunbeds. Lots of availability! There is daytime entertainment but it can easily be missed. I asked a few times when it was and it does not follow the programme advertised. There is only one member of entertainment team and we did manage to join in with water polo a few times which is popular with everyone. No darts, ping pong or volleyball which was a shame because my teenage son loves joining in with this. I feel the rep does need to go around with whistle or announce it a few times asking people and motivating them to get people to join in. We did make use if pool table, ping pong and volleyball but no tournement competitions going on. No water aerobics at 10-11am as advertised the whole time I was there. We did venture out a few times but not till dinnertime 12 noon so we could of missed some of the entertainment, does not follow programme so u have to ask. If I had to review this i would suggest getting more of a competition/tournement going and maybe handing a Certificate out at the night to the winners! Something different every night for entertainment after the kids disco so no complaints there. Entertainment till around 10pm. Only small complaint about kids mini disco. Played the same songs every night. Maybe learn a few more songs and mix it up a little. Waterpark This is one of the best waterpark hotels we have been to for thrill rides. Brilliant for my 9 and 14 Yr olds. Kept them and myself entertained. Only downside is it is very sparse on inflatable rings for rides. Not very busy so you don't have to wait to long for one. Maybe need to get 10 more rings for the park. Easy access to waterpark. Entrance from the back of the kids club. Cannot comment on kids club. My children did not use this. I did not see many children using this facility???? Food/drinks/staff First of all. The staff where amazing. Very helpful and polite. Always provide a good service. Tables where cleared once food was eaten. Drinks always topped up. 1 man in the main restaurant always went one step further and interacted with the kids. Such a friendly man. Bar staff amazing. Provided service with a smile and drinks where not made weak. I was happy. Pool staff the same. Polite and friendly. If kids cried they came over to make sure they ok. Food was very good. Different styles each night. English food, Chinese, Italian, greek. E.g shephards pies, Sunday dinners with broccoli, carrots, peas, curries, samosas, spring roll, spaghetti bolognase, pizza, lasagna, lots of rice, fish and meat dishes. Always kids food available, chicken nuggets, chips, pasta. Deserts are a bit basic. The same 4 cakes every night. I'm not a desert person so no problem for me. Breakfast meals are good. Fresh omelettes made at cooking station. Pancakes for kids and English/continental breakfast available. Good selection of cocktails available on all inclusive and beer. Snack bar provides good English food for the picky eaters, Lots of pizza, chicken nuggets, burgers chips etc We always are prepared to eat out a few times but there was lots of choice in restaurant so no need too this holiday. We just went out after the entainment finished at hotel for drinks. Main restaurant 7am-10am breakfast Pool snack bar 10am-12pm Main restaurant dinnertime 12-2.30pm Pool snack bar 3pm -5pm Main restaurant evening meal 6.30pm -9pm Drinks avaliable all day untill midnight. Location Wow this is the one of the best things. Right outside on Nissi Avenue, Lots of family bars especially bedrock. Great for families with kids. Every bar has entertainment. If you head back down toward nissi beach most restaurants have parks around the side for the kids. Odyossis sports bar brilliant to watch footy, Lots of screens and a massive screen at the back, 2 bouncy castles and amusements for kids. The gardens is another good bar, 2 bars up for football too. If u are adults it's 10 mins walk to the square with all the night life, bars clubs etc. I was worried because of the reputation of Ayia Napa in the past and not good for families but seriously. Its 2 separate areas. Nissi avenue for families and the top end where the square is gets lively if you like to party. It caters for both. The balance is perfect. Its 10 mins walk to harbour. You can either go the road way or there is a path to walk along the back of the hotel. Sandy beach to the left of the harbour and not too busy. Nissi beach is amazing. Sea abit more calmer but it does get busy. Sometime no sun bed loungers left. Lots watersports in both. We hired car, 80 euros, 2 days. Went to Cape greco national park. Sunset amazing! Cliff dived off the sea caves, visited lovers ridge. Ventured to the Famagusta view point which can be seen with binoculars, we went to Protarus Fig Tree bay beach all within 15 mins drive. Lots of people hire the buggy carts to venture over the national park. Best boat trip for kids is yellow submarine The staff so friendly on there. About 2 hours long. Diving show with glass bottom Lots of fish seen. 3 diving boards and a slide. Swim in the caves and cliff dive. Thoroughly enjoyed this. There is a massive theme park next to panthea. You can buy tokens or wrist bands. My 9 Yr olds and 14 Yr olds loved this as they are thrill seekers. Overall we give this holiday 10/10 we are already looking for next year to return. THANK YOU xxx

They were extremely polite and nothing was too much for them. The breakfast service in particular was sensational with a delicious fresh and tasty breakfast. With a wide range of breakfast options including cooked and continental. We will definitely stay here again and fully recommend Dijain and his team. Thankyou for a brilliant stay.

On arrival several omission's and untruths in the description of the hotel and room became apparent. Free parking, Mini Bar, Garden, Outside seating area, reliable Wifi, Soundproofing where not true! The omissions where also not helpful as i am disabled - so the car ark not being near the hotel with cases to carry was appalling, Power cuts and medication needing refrigeration and three flights of steps before you reached the accommodation ALL should have been highlighted so I as a consumer could have gone ahead with the booking OR Looked elsewhere. On day two I had to ask to to change rooms due to the noise of the road throughout the night. beeping and screaming from cars which i understand is a nightly event. The room change made no difference as the room was located above a jazz Club - however that did curtail in the early hours! The other reason for changing rooms was I wrote a strong letter pointing out that dead human skin (black and think) on the shower hose, had no hot water and power cuts! The owner did meet me on the fourth day and went through my concerns - basically saying - i should have expected it! Breakfast was served at a nearby Cafe - (ANOTHER OMMISSION) and every breakfast (seven in total) served on cracked & chipped plates! having forty-five years of international travel to the USSR and South Africa as well as throughout the Med, I have never experienced such conditions and did advise the owner I would be be writing a review both on bookinng.com and trip advisor.

The whole place was very organised and functional! The hostes was very nice and polite, and tried not to disturb us if it wasn't necessary! The only minus we found is that just in front of the apartment on the beach where the water sport facilities and there was no easy acces to it !
