The 10 best Lodges in Cyprus, Cyprus

April 29, 2023 Leonardo Torrence

The legendary birthplace of the goddess Aphrodite, Cyprus has been coveted and fought over by a succession of admirers: Mycenaeans, Egyptians, Assyrians and Persians, to name a few. The former British colony was most recently fought over by the Turks and the Greeks. A result of this turbulent past is an impressive range of cultural treasures, from Crusader castles to the tomb of Mohammed's aunt. The island's geography - plentiful coastline with a mountainous center - ensures plenty of year-round activity.

In the apartment its a master bedroom with sea views, large terrace, living room with a kitchen, main bathroom with Chopard cosmetics, guest bedroom and bathroom The setting of the tower on the beach is stunning. Unexpected visit

We were transferred to this hotel as ours had been commender for refugees. The move was done without On The Beaches knowledge, the hotel we had booked had accepted our money then moved us to this hotel and probably accepted money from the government for the refugees! all I can say is that this place is like Faulty Towers!! We had booked self catering and on arrival had no cutlery or crockery, pans kettle, in fact all we literally had was a pot to p1ss 1n!!! The nearest shop only sold Pringles and bottles of pop! The next nearest shop is a 40 minutes walk away, we had booked to be in the centre of Paphos right in the centre of all the bars, clubs and restaurants! We ended up 6km on the cost road between resorts, the restaurant across the road was closed for the as the receptionist said “closed for the holidays”. This review is not a joke, the noise from the coast road right through the night makes it impossible to sleep, and the smell in the rooms actually turns your stomach. Fortunately the local OTB rep managed to get us moved to the Kissos Hotel, this place is an absolute palace and you will be able to read my review on that hotel later.

We take every caution to protect the environment, natural and social. The house once owned by Efstatios Filakti in Treis Elies built around 1900 and recently restored, offers self-catering accommodation from two to eight persons in two separate units. The lodge located in the centre of Treis Elies village and its balconies and windows offer a lovely view to the valley of the village. She is an amazing cook and did a very nice cooking demonstration for us. We loved the trout, the chicken with dill and the ravioli. The mountains were cold in the winter - pack some warm clothing.

Our Fourth Short Break

Reviewed By StunLyn

We found Paradise having been let down by another hotel on Karpaz peninsula. They had a room at short notice . The rooms are modern and very clean and benefit from all amenities including fabulous views of the sunrise over the sea from 1st floor rooms. A lovely family run hotel with traditional Turkish breakfast being second to none on the island. A varied menu for dinner but every time we have been freshly caught fish of the day together with a fabulous fish soup has been available for us. Living in Cyprus we have booked our 5th short break of the year knowing we will be spoilt yet again.

Small but serving the purpose

Reviewed By dasreiseteam

We arrived around 8 pm at the guesthouse for an overnight stay. As we were travelling with quite a bit of luggage for a cruise the hostess offered us a room on the ground level. We gladly accepted and were led to a cabin on the other side of a very nice courtyard with open air seating. The inside of the cabin was small and the bathroom even smaller. However, it was nicely decorated and suited our purpose well. Due to Covid we couldn’t have breakfast but we had some snacks in the room and could make ourselves a cup of tea or coffee. The hostess’ husband has a taxi and gave us a ride to the port the next day. If you are hungry, walk out of the door, turn left and walk less than 200 m. On the other side of the street you’ll see “Bull Street Food”. We met the nicest people in there, had some cold beers and excellent burgers at a very reasonable price.

Almond Tree Restaurant, great food poor service

Reviewed By Glaws07

We have visited this restaurant several times and seen it become more popular. Unfortunately with that success they have become complacent. We recently booked for 6 and were told fully booked inside but seating available outside. No problem for us as that’s what we preferred. On arriving at the restaurant we were told to have a drink at the bar as our table wasn’t ready. I could see that there weren’t any available tables outside! When asked where we were eating I was told inside as our outside table had been given to someone else (we were on time). When I queried this I was told ‘not to worry about it and we were lucky to get a table as plenty of people hadn’t!’ Wow, we thought, how privileged we were. To cut a long review short. It took an hour and a half before our main course arrived, not once did anyone ask how our meals were, or if we needed anything I.e, more drinks, dessert or coffee. Basic good customer service was severely lacking. Next time we go out for a meal we’ll leave the Almond Tree restaurant for those that were less fortunate than ourselves to secure a table!
