Top 10 Spas & Wellness in Vancouver, Canada

May 22, 2022 Lashaunda Abraham

Vancouver was founded as “Gastown” by an Englishman with a penchant for beer and storytelling. Today Gastown is a historic section of the Canadian metropolis, and the lively pubs still reflect the area’s former status as a sort of community drinking center. The city’s forests, grand parks, and impressive suspension bridge beckon travelers to explore them, as do the city’s shops and museums. Relive the glory of the 2010 Winter Games with visits to Olympic venues and the marvelous Olympic Cauldron.

I went to the CHI Spa for a 60 min Codage Designer Custom Facial and it was glorious. I was able to fill out the intake form online and was able to just sit and relax upon arrival. I was welcomed out of the elevator by an amazing water feature wall and was warmly invited at the desk to have a seat. It did not take long to check me in and she took me around for a tour. The sitting/waiting area for the spa has a product wall, some ginger tea and fresh lemon water, and a few snacks, sesame crisps, trail mix and chocolate covered ginger. The seating is comfy and warm. The smells are delicious. Before the gender specific change rooms, there's a snack area to purchase fresh juices and other amenities as well as an outdoor area with a small pool and hot tub. (Note: I wish this was on the website, I neglected to bring a swim suit to enjoy this wonderful treat). The change areas are just beyond a locked door (they let you in with a pass) and the hallway presents the gym area and the change rooms. The female change room has two bathrooms, a shower and a steam room. I popped my head into the steam room and it was quite large. There's half length lockers where you can find towels, a robe and sandals for your treatment. I changed, locked up and went to wait. I was welcomed on time by my amazing esthetician Takako and she couldn't have been more polite and genuine. She took me beyond to the treatment areas where there are quite a few rooms. My room had a treatment bed with a warmer, and there was also a bathroom, a private change area with amenities such as a shower cap, comb, hair elastic etc. There was also a full bathtub (used for treatments) and a full shower. I was given a wrap around gown to change into and invited to lay on the treatment bed. The facial is quite lovely and soothing. I either didn't need extractions (or this facial doesn't include this), but the lotions and masks were quite nice smelling and did not hurt my skin. During the treatment, she focused on my face and neck area. After a mask was on, she did a shoulder, high back massage (face up) and then did a massage on each arm. Despite my eyes being closed the entire time, she kept a hand on so I knew where she was at all times. She finished with a lovely non-oil scalp massage I do not think I've had a more lovely experience with a facial treatment. I would highly recommend CHI for facials and would go back to try other treatments in the future (and bring that swim suit!). Takako was so so lovely and I would recommend her if you decide to book.

I can not speak highly enough of the incredible work Ashley has cultivated through her practice and how it has aided me in not only processing and becoming more present with grief, uncertainty and now onwards to motivation! Also, Halsa provides an atmosphere in resemblance of a heavenly retreat in the heart of Kitsilano! Make sure you provide ample time to enjoy their tasty teas, unique collections of books and cozy couches after a Craniosacral session with Ashley!

This small spa contains three pedicure stations and one treatment room. I had a very good pedicure experience here. The staff are welcoming and very friendly. I had the $50 regular pedicure, which is a good value and left my feet feeling and looking great. They are careful with the polish and do an undercoat, two coats of colour and a top coat. There are often Groupons available, and they accept the Wayspa gift cards that you can get at Costco ($80 for $100 worth of treatment). Would certainly go back.
