Top 10 Ski & Snow Tours in Hokkaido, Japan

December 1, 2021 Marlin Saiz

Hokkaido (北海道, Hokkaidō, literally "Northern Sea Circuit") (Japanese: [hokkaꜜidoː] ( listen)), formerly known as Ezo, Yezo, Yeso, or Yesso, is the second largest island of Japan, and the largest and northernmost prefecture. The Tsugaru Strait separates Hokkaido from Honshu. The two islands are connected by the undersea railway Seikan Tunnel. The largest city on Hokkaido is its capital, Sapporo, which is also its only ordinance-designated city. About 43 km north of Hokkaido lies Sakhalin Island, Russia, whereas to its east and north-east are the disputed Kuril Islands.

Pawal and JB did a great job in teaching our 4 first time skiers ranging in age from 4 to 7. They were very patient over the week with them, including the children’s preference at times for building snowmen as opposed to riding the slopes!!! Thanks again.

I used Winterlab for my recent ski trip to Japan. I am an experienced and hungry skier. I go to Japan often and speak Japanese but I had never been skiing in Japan. Winterlab made my first, of many to come, experience great. Anna was super-responsive, patient, and informative from the start, and throughout. Oli, my guide and instructor, was amazing. Day 1, got a sense of my skiing but appropriate to what I wanted to do, Days 2 and 3, we just had at it. Back country, in trees, powder and more. He was also a great companion for 3 days. I highly recommend and would/will repeat!

What a great experience ????!!! Thanks to Takeshi, his wife and their daughter, they made our sledge dog experience unforgettable. He took the time to explain his kennel and we spend quality time with the dogs and new born puppies????. Riding your own sledge is once in a lifetime adventure, that I will recommend it anyone. Takeshi is taking pictures and video with his camera and give them to you on your mobile or sd card. We hope to have the chance to go back and ride with the new dogs generation.????
