Although not as famous as the Notre-Dame Basilica it is still worth a stop! Beautiful interior and for someone trying to see the beauty of Montreal’s Cathedrals in a quiet and more private manner I would defiantly recommend going here over the Notre-Dame Basilica, as it is crowded

Golden Square Mile

From 1840 to 1930, the Golden Square Mile was home to Canada’s anglophone upperclass, the majority of which was made up of Scottish businessmen. Situated to the northwest of what is now Downtown Montréal, the neighborhood is defined by its Victorian mansions, noteworthy institutions, elegant stores, grand avenues, green spaces and monuments that call back to its early years when its residents represented nearly 70 percent of the wealth of Canada. The Square Mile is part of the Mount Royal natural and historical district and includes McGill University, the McCord Museum of Canadian History, the Montréal Museum of Fine Arts and many other attractions and landmarks to be discovered while strolling along Sherbrooke Street West. The term “golden” was added to the name in the 1950s by real estate developers to refer to the prosperity of the area. Originally spanning about one square mile, it is contained by a southern border of René Lévesque (formerly Dorchester Street), Mount Royal Park

Observatoire Place Ville Marie

Nestled in the heart of Montreal’s business district, on the 46th floor of an emblematic tower, Observatoire 360 offers a breathtaking view of our metropolis and its main attractions. Its inspiring space, its 360° panoramic view, its oversized windows, its spacious terrace on the 44th floor that vibrates to the rhythm of Montreal’s 4 seasons and its central location make Observatoire Place Ville Marie a must. Live a unique experience more than 185 meters above ground! Enjoy a gourmet stop at Les Enfants Terribles Place Ville Marie, the highest restaurant in town!

Somewhat difficult to find. You need to go downstairs once inside the building, then you can buy your ticket and take a quick elevator ride up 46 floors for a 360 degree view of the city. Reminded me of visiting the CN Tower in Toronto but without the long lineup and crowd. There were floor to ceiling windows and staff who were available to answer your questions. There is also a restaurant down a couple floors and although I didn't eat there, I did enjoy a cocktail while sitting on the rooftop terrace.

Underground City

Montreal's answer to the region's harsh winters, Underground City refers to the extensive web of train stations, restaurants, department stores and hotels all connected underground.

Reviewed By 476jael - Long Island, United States

During our stay at Le Westin Montreal, we extensively used the famous Montreal’s Underground City (RÉSO) to go to Complexe Guy-Favreau, Place des Arts, Musee d’Art Contemporain de Montréal, various shops/malls and eateries in the Underground City, and China Town restaurants. We also used Underground City to enter/exit Montreal’s efficient metro networks to visit such attractions as Cathedral of Marie-Reine-du-Monde, Saint Joseph's Oratory of Mount Royal, Monument to Sir George-Etienne Cartier, etc. The climate controlled Underground City with over 1,600 shops/services had many concourses and tunnels on multiple stories with good lighting, making the world’s largest underground complex excellent choice for Montreal residents and visitors alike to move around especially during adverse weather conditions. Since many shopping malls, apartment buildings, hotels, banks, offices, museums, universities were connected with this underground network, this Underground City network was especially efficient and useful arrangement. Although we had read about this underground network before actually entering it, we were amazed at its enormous magnitude, colorfulness and efficiency. Montreal’s Underground City is a must visit site. As matter of fact, it is a virtually a must use site while in Montreal.
