After about an hour drive in beautiful scenery, my daughter and I ( senior citizen) arrived at the Civa pearl farm. Tide was out and we were met by a very attentive young man and helped into a skiff to take us out to the structure where the pearl farmer does his magic. For a 35 Fijian dollar fee , Claude gave us a very informative and interesting demonstration on pearl farming and his sidekick Rizzi(?) took us out to snorkel and show us amazing and beautiful underwater delights. Of course the reason we went , was to hopefully purchase a pearl. And Claude did not disappoint. There was a wide range of colors , grades , and prices. Claude worked with my daughter to get a bracelet with a beautiful yellow pearl exactly how she wanted. It was delivered the next day as promised. And I was delighted with my necklace as well. All for around 600 Fijian. We spent about 2 hours there. Our taxi was 75 Fijian dollars round trip and he waited there for us. It was an awesome experience and I have some great memories to share with my daughter. Be sure and take a dry bag with your important stuff ie. credit card, cash , towels if you plan on snorkeling , snorkeling gear and a change of clothes. Or not if you don’t mind staying wet for a bit. All the cabs there have plastic covers on their seats so being wet is not a problem.

A visit to Bobby’s 100 acre farm was one of the highlights of our visit to Taveuni. It was such an educational tour (being local we thought we knew a lot) and Bobby is so knowledgeable on the flora and fauna and loves to share his knowledge. We learnt about fruits and plants we had never seen before. Along the way we collected and tried fruits and at the end of our walk we had an amazing vegetarian curry banquet prepared by Bobby’s elderly mother. We spent about 4 hours here and this tour of Bobby’s paradise is the real Fiji and felt as though we were with an old friend. I definitely recommend a visit and will be bringing family and friends with me next time.

Cocoa farm and chocolate factory in Fiji's hidden paradise, Savusavu. We give 'tree to bar' tours and sell fine-flavour chocolate made from locally grown cocoa. And we promote biodiversity through our environmentally friendly agroforestry system.

We loved the time we spent here, learning about their efforts to promote sustainable agriculture, local plants, and of course the chocolate making process. The chocolate tasting at the end was the cherry on top, as all of the chocolates they make are delicious! The farm is easy to get to and we would definitely recommend spending a couple of hours here while in Savusavu.

Nausori Highlands

Reviewed By singhShivy - Viti Levu, Fiji

I heard a lot about this place and was warned that the road is not safe. But we set on a cross country journey with my dad. Went through the Sigatoka Valley Road and came right from the Nausori Highlands Road. This is the road least traveled with no road signs hence recommended for 4 wheel drives. You just have to trust your navigation skills as the area does not have network at places and the villages are located were far away. We did had to stop and ask for directions in few villages. But it all was all worth it. The view from the Nausori highland is worth the travel. We spotted out 2 or 3 waterfalls but they were quite off the road. Be ware of the wild horses that just run upon seeing the vehicle. Worth a trip to see the interior of Vitilevu.

The traditional dinner is delicious but mostly the entire staff make you feel so welcome and included. Can not recommended highly enough!
