There’s plenty to see and do in this 2,000-year-old German city. The gothic Saint Bartholomeus Cathedral is a perseverant structure, having been destroyed and rebuilt twice since its 14th century construction. Catch a screening at the German Film Museum, stroll the exhibit halls of one of Frankfurt’s many galleries, or climb to the top of the Main Tower for sweeping 360-degree views of the city.

Cathedral of St. Bartholomew (Dom St. Bartholomaus)

This historic cathedral served for 300 years as the site of coronation for Holy Roman Emperors.

The St. Bartholomew Cathedral tower is well worth climbing for the views of the old town, the Main river & greater Frankfurt. The viewing platforms are at a height of 66 meters and are reached via a long stone spiral stairs. Hard on the legs as there are no stops along the way. Well worth it though for the amazing 360 degree views from the top. The descent is easier.

well worth a visit, not your average German church at all. Its all set out in the circular shape - lot of information, history and art on the outside and inside the actual church part its very simple and modern. Almost feels like a lecture hall with lots of seating in rows with desks. Free entry too

Liebfrauen, Frankfurt

Reviewed By MSoca - Miami, United States

As many others we just stumbled into this beautiful catholic and peaceful oasis in the middle of busy Frankfurt. I noticed a painting of my beloved Saint Anthony with the name of the cluster just on a wall and we went inside. Peaceful courtyard lead you to the altar of the Virgin Mary where you can light some candles. Inside you’ll find a space for prayers. Nothing big going on compared to other churches in Europe but the peace you find there is definitely special. Not a lot of people/tourists which we really enjoyed. The small area to pray to Saint Anthony was filled with candles and flowers. A signed that many, like me, put our worries in his hands. We will be back when we have more time to sit and meditate.
