The café is located not far from the lavra, but still far enough not to be crowded. The place is very cozy and unusual. The waitresses wear 19th century styled clothes, and the interiors are also nice and look vintage. The menu has many traditional and common Russian dishes on a par with less common ones. Food was very nice. We had some beef cooked in clay pots which was delicious. Another great and absolutely must-do experience is traditional Russian samovar tea. The price is very moderate for such a set as well. The only concern was about the chairs. They were somewhat uncomfortable. All in all, it's a great place for food and Russian samovar tea. I highly recommend visiting it!

A lot of scary things around - soviet quarters, building grounds, bumpy roads, and not too much luxury inside, but really tasty and mostly authentic dishes from Central Asia for a low price. If you like to visit places for locals, this is one of them. Working hours are 10--19, as in many places here.There're delivery service and other rooms including cafe (not self-service), but I found it closed.

We had lunch at Gostevaya Izba in September 2016.The restaurant is located next door from the monastery. If the main room is a bit dark, the summer terrace is quiet and bright. The furniture is based on what's on display at the museum: heavy oak chairs and tables. The food was excellent and centered around traditional staples. We really enjoyed the duck breast, the grilled vegetables. The Napoleon cake was delicious and the Pastilla based on an old recipe. All in all, an excellent lunch. Highly recommended.

Perfect location with secured car parking, big rooms with nice interiors, very kind and confident staff. Salads, soups, desserts, drinks are all perfect. There is also a kid's menu. Quick service, free wi-fi, credit cards are accepted. The only disappointment were main courses. Especially the duck: it had too much fat, and it was too dry. Prices are rather high, around 50 EUR per person without alcohol.

Creative choice of the decoration, lots of interesting props, like typewriters or microscopes on shelves. Big size of portions and affordable prices. I've ordered mullet wine and grilled salmon - both was fantastic, especially loved how soft and tasty salmon was. Highly recommend to visit.

Highly recommend this place-located in the heart of Sergiev Posad,in a calm street right in front of Lavra. English-speaking staff,naturally Russian cousine dishes (taken from the recipes book of 1886,just imagine!), with the interesting serving style. Drinks (mors,kvas,lots of teas etc) are all home-made and very tasty! Bakery is also here,cookies are served to every tea order) The design of the cafe is retro-style - as the standard Soviet flat looked like,with plenty of interesting decor pieces coming from the Soviet period. Very nice,cosy and comfortable! The prices are rather low,especially in comparison with some expensive restaurants in the center. The staff speaks English and is very nice and friendly. The only thing-they do not except credit cards,take cash with you!

This restaurant is not far from the main attraction, off the main road, itâs surprisingly cool inside. Nicely decorated with a homey feel. The food is very homey too with a few international selections. The highlight of food is the apple cinnamon dumplings with sour cream. (It seems like sour cream is everywhere in Russian food!)The service is very nice good, friendly and helpful staff.
