I visited this beautiful little place with my partner. We were amongst the first to get there and luckily got an outside table - people kept on coming in flocks soon after! Very popular, and rightly so.. They have a specials board that is explained to you as well as the normal menu. I got the vegetariana and it came within 10 mins- straight from the oven! So hot and fresh, amazing crust and ALL the ingredients were fresh. The cheese was especially good! (Safe to say my partner was sad he ate beforehand.. we just might have to visit for our last night too and try the nutella ice cream!)

We drove from Akumal to spend the day in Valladolid. The colonial town is charming, with its multi-coloured buildings, and not touristy. Visited the chocolate factory and the convent. We were hungry around noon, and went to the restaurant. However, it was closed because Valladolid is one hour behind Cancun/Akumal/Tulum. So we waited for a half hour (11:30 am it opens for lunch). The service was professional and the food delicious. We ordered the chaya and pineapple juice, a fabulous fish filet in green sauce (it was actually a soup and so good) and the cochinita pibil, which was moist and succulent. Highly recommend.

Great swim here, wasn't worth buying food to gain entry to cenote due to minimum spend. Have to pay extra for change room and toilet so recommend arriving in swim gear.

Squimz looks like a typical casual coffee shop, but I had perhaps the best breakfast I have ever enjoyed in Mexico—and I’ve had some great ones. We started with some delicious and refreshing “Jugos Naturales,” fresh fruit juices. I had the Hawái (pineapple/orange/strawberry, 37 pesos) and my wife ordered the Sol de Jamaica (mango/orange/melon, 38 pesos). My wife really enjoyed her Chilaquiles con Pollo in salsa verde (72 pesos) but my Chilaquiles Valladolid (with cochinita!) at 92 pesos would be worth a return trip to Valladolid. Looking back at the entire 10-day trip, this was one of the two best meals of my entire vacation. In the future, if I am even passing through Valladolid I will have to stop for those chilaquiles—I am spoiled for life. The total for this incredible meal was 239 pesos. If we lived in Valladolid we would be here almost daily. When we finished we stepped outside to look for a cab that would take us to Ek Balam, and the restaurant manager summoned one and told him where we were going.

Great breakfast. Huge. And very cheap. Mexican street faire, but from a small counter restaurant in a bazar. Lots of locals eating too, so for me, a stamp of approval. Eggs hanerchos were great, and came with tacos, beans, plantain; huge plate of fruit was tasty; different fruit and milk cocktails. Worth going to.

The service was really bad. They ignored us for about 10 minutes. I finally asked for menus and then they ignored us for another 10 minutes. They’d look at us and clear dirty dishes from other tables rather than take our order. I ordered chicken with mashed potatoes and got chicken with rice. Total bummer, no explanation. I guess we’re lucky we got food at all. The chicken was Ok, a large portion but the taste didn’t warrant the price. The salad and presentation were great and my husbands pasta was Ok. We seriously thought of leaving without paying, would they have ignored that?

Lunch at La Casona in Valladolid was included in our Xichen DELUXE Tour (Xichen Clásico does not include lunch here) and it was fantastic! We are originally from Mexico and were glad to taste delicious Mexican food, buffet style. Refreshing Aguas Frescas of many kinds of fruits and flavors, Sopa de Lima soup, panuchos, pibil, fish, all delicious!!! The place is beautiful and well decorated as an old Hacienda. The gift shop had many crafts from different regions of the country and the prices were reasonable.

My husband and I stopped by after a visit to the convent today on our ONE NIGHT only trip to Valladolid. He had a milkshake and an omelet. It was all that he had eaten all day. He is currently holed up in our hotel room puking his guts out. We are not strangers to Mexico and take all necessary precautions to avoid stomach issues. There is no doubt whatsoever that the milkshake he drank is responsible. I was so looking forward to the light show at the convent and watching the dancing in the main square tonight along with a good authentic Yucatan dinner at El Atrio de Mayab. Sadly, none of these things are going to happen as he is praying to the porcelain gods and it doesn’t show any signs of stopping any time soon.

We came here during our visit to Valladolid. The taxi from town was cheap (60-70 pesos). We paid 50 pesos for the cenote and that included a locker and life jacket (mandatory). There is a platform to dive off of, a waterfall affect (which made the cenote different from others) and a large body of water to just float and relax in.
I think for 50 pesos this is definitely worth a stop if you are in the area. Besides the buffet, there is also an area to buy snacks, drinks or ice cream bars. The hacienda grounds are very pretty as well.
This is a place where lots of tour buses stop. I would recommend going later in the day. We were there around 230 and that seemed like a good enough time. When we were leaving around 315, there was even less people.
