This was the most authentic Greek food we ate all of our 10 day holiday.
It was very good and very good value for money.
The friendly owner was very helpful and spoke excellent English.
It was difficult to find in the streets of the old town but google maps got us there!!
The only shame was that it rained and we had to sit inside not outside.

Travelled inland from the coastal resorts to this village Taverna following up on a family recommendation. If you want something different from the typical restaurant menu you must try this, superb friendly hospitality, varied Cretan menu of superb dishes. We had an idea of what we wanted to try but upon waiter recommendation went with a variety of different dishes to share. Food quality was exceptional, the salad served in a pastry bowl, all of which could be eaten from its presentation plate - very tasty, the beef dish was just so tender, the local twisted pasta covered in cheese delightful. I could go on. This place is a hidden gem, well worth the picturesque drive to get there. Friendly staff in great surroundings which is not to be missed!

We visited Arodamos restaurant on an evening trip to Anogia. On entering the restaurant we felt a bit awkward as we were the only people dining there, because (as we found out later) there was a music festival taking place in the open air theatre in the village. Our hosts could not have been more welcoming however, bringing us a succession of dishes, only some of which we had ordered - fried cheese, fresh tomatoes, cucumber, giant beans, olives, stuffed vine leaves, oven-baked feta cheese, tortilla - with all of it home made and much of it using vegetables and fruit grown by the owners. We are vegetarians and appreciated the range of vegetarian dishes on the menu. Everything we ate was fresh and delicious. At the end of our meal we were brought (complimentary) pastries and fruit from the owners' garden. The bill was extremely modest, only 35 Euros for five of us. As we prepared to leave, the owners invited us to join them at the music festival, so we walked with them down to the open air theatre with them to enjoy the Performances. (And also found out where everyone else in Anogia was!) It was a truly special evening.

The location is fantastic down in the old port. Great varied menu. Staff are very helpful. The food is so fresh and served with pride. This is a fish restaurant. Salad was crispy fresh and the prawns were so lovely. Big portions too. Greek yoghurt on the house as so good as was the Raki.
Lovely memories of Rethymon.

The tradition that is bonded with the restaurant is well maintained until today. Super friendly service and great atmosphere on the outdoor Terrace in the centre of Prines village. The host goes out of his way to help and all the food we tried was fantastic. Well worth a trip for reasonably priced classic Greek dishes.

Everyone likes a good story. This restaurant has one. The owner's father started the restaurant on a little cooking stove and made some wonderful hamburger mini meat loaves. Never sharing the receipe, the humble beginning led to a restaurant with national pedigrees and charming humility. The food is beyond amazing, The prices are fair, the wine list excellent, and the family (founder's son and grandson) great hosts. They drink with you, talk about the food, and are genuinely touched with your compliments. The owner was overwhelmed when we came back a second time in three days. We just shared our joy for his food and his family. He gave us gift bottles of raki and exchanged kisses with me on both cheeks in proper Greek style. We truly love these people and if winds blow us back to Crete, we would find the time to come back. Wonderful!

That was an accidental find. Fine location with the Terrace view, gentle wind breeze, fantastic food and friendly service. Proper relaxing atmosphere and QUIET. You will find what you want to eat and will not be dissapointed like in many 'resort-picture-food' junk restaurants.

Everytime we're anywhere near the Plakias area we make a point of coming to Mesogeios Taverna, right in front of the beach in Damnoni.
Beautifully arranged tables with plenty of shade and a constantly friendly service, wether you come for a drink, for breakfast or for lunch.
Very relaxing atmosphere and good tasting offerings all day, until 18:00 now so don't make a special journey for late dinner.
Just one of those places you always want to come back to. (but please leave some space for us)

Our small traditional taverna, will offer you something a little bit different.. You will be able to samble some of our traditional cousine cooked fresly from me Pagona and my mother ''Vaso''.. These small dishes we offer are called ''meze'' dishes and you can try as many as you want!! In Crete we order many dishes witch goes in the middle of the table and you can pick and try.. This is a very enjoyable way of eating and try our food!! Offcourse , we recommend a few shots of our Raki and our House wine to wash it all down with!!! We hope to see you soon and we hope you will like it!!

We were recommended to this place by my parents and weren't diappointed. Food was so fresh and tasty and Pagona couldn't have been lovelier. Can't wait for a return visit.
