A fast food restaurant situated next to a gas station next to the mainroad... Decent food, the burgers is actually pretty good. Not many other restaurants nearby, so if travelling in a car this could be a nice place to stop!

Innsvingen Cafe

The Innsvigen café is famous for its good homemade food and reasonable prices – we also offer catering services and can tailor make a menu that will work for you so let us know what you need… Are you tired of hotels, crowds of people and loud music? An event at the Ski museum may work well for you and yours. We can set up the café after your wishes or if you are after something extra special we can use the museum ‘scene rooms’. Our kitchen is known for their generous portions and where possible we always use locally produced food. We are of course also able to serve alcohol.

Innsvingen Cafe is a part of the Norwegian Ski Museum in Morgedal, and it's found next to the souvenir shop.
We had some very nice sandwiches (cheese/ham & shrimps) here for lunch. They were of good portion and nicely decorated. There are also typical norwegian dinner options on the menu, as norwegian meat (moose/elk), norwegian fish (trout) and the typical norwegian porridge.
The lady behind the desk was also very friendly to us.
Well worth eating here if you're driving through Morgedal and want to visit the ski museum.

Raulandsfjell Cafeteria & Restaurant

A historic castle with a very friendly and cosy atmosphere, obviously due to it's owners. The history of the castle and its owners over 700 years was very well told, the furniture, paintings and China are amongst the best in the world and the fact that Downton Abbey had been filmed inside the castle and costumes and photos from the shoots were on display, added to the excitement. Children were catered for with hidden treasures in the stately rooms, and medieval games played outside. Very informative and friendly guides in every room. There is a cafe and very good souvenir shops.

Raulandstoga Cafe

We stopped in Rauland for dinner, and dropped in at Raulandstoga. To our surprice we found the food excellent. We had trout for dinner, and cloudberriecream for dessert. A lovely white wine made the meal perfect. The service was very friendly, and the waiter gave us usefull information.
The prices are reasonable, in particular the wine. Not many norwegian restaurants serve fine wine for so good prices.
From the outside the restaurant looks quite ordinary, but do not pass the place for that reason. It is situated close to the roadcrossing in the smal center og Rauland. Tel. nr +47 35073110
The restaurant closes at 1900, at least in the autumn.

Buffet it may be but there was plenty of it. All tasty. The evening meal and the breakfast was first class. Plenty of choice, smoked salmon and other types of fish, the usual eggs bacon and pastries for breakfast together with meats and cheeses. Above average for this type of hotel,

Restaurant Dalen Hotel

Even if you stay just one night, you need to experience the dining room other than for breakfast. We were tempted to go to the lower-priced Bryggie instead but are glad we stayed for dinner at the hotel, just for the experience but also for the best meals we had in Norway in 10 days. The servers are attentive and polite, and the setting cannot be beat. I would have gotten the 5-course meal, but everyone at the table has to order it, and my wife has dietary constraints. Ordering off the menu is likely more expensive in total. The menu options are limited, but each is carefully chosen. My wife's halibut was excellent, and they are known for the duck breast, which I devoured. I had a bowl of the asparagus soup with scallops (actually just one but exquisitely braised), and the bowl was unusually large, well worth the price. Our only complaint was the over one hour wait for our main course even though the place was only about 1/3 full when we ordered. There are only 20 tables, so they much reach capacity quickly. I know locals who have been denied Reservations since they fill so quickly. We would have ordered dessert, but there were only 2 choices, and we frankly were unwilling to give up more of the late night sunlight to wait for it.

Recognized as a fine tourist spot, next to the Seljord lake.
However, the food is just decent - you'll get better hamburgers on the opposite tavern, as well as on the gas station next by. The main meals are also average, very little meat portions, but lots of vegetables. I remember one time they couldn't serve me ice cream, because they didn't have a spoon available.. Prices are pretty expensive in contrast to what you'll get..

This kafe is located about 10 km from Vradal, where we are staying for a couple of days, during our Norway roundtrip.
We visited around noon, the place is not too busy, but quite some people are having lunch. We just stopped by for some coffee and tea. The cappuccino and tea are pretty good. Food looks great by the way.
