Puerto Madryn is protected by the Golfo Nuevo, which is formed by Península Valdés and Punta Ninfas, and is one of the most sheltered places on the Patagonian coast. With five kilometers of beaches bordering the city, Puerto Madryn is the gateway to many other attractions in Argentina. Top among them is Valdes Peninsula Nature Reserve, a UNESCO heritage site since 1999.

Agree with you all. Good seafood and good to know it is artisan fished by this family. And not a charming location nor a special occasion interior.
Friendly to solo diners arriving for a late lunch, with my choice of small tables and wine by the glass.
Not all on the plate is sea fresh - probably some from frozen but that is to be expected to maintain the variety on a cooked seafood platter. Also excellent complimentary baguette and seafood pate.
Good value for 170 pesos

The food is great, specially if you like seafood! Good and efficient service and staff. Right in the center of Puerto Madryn.
Just one remark: to be perfect, the air extraction should be improved. You get just a bit smelly.
All the rest is 5 stars!

This was a wonderful dining experience--equal to any that we have had in large cities across the world. From the outside, Restaurante Placido appears to be a simple storefront on a main street. But, make no mistake, this is far from a neighborhood restaurant. Service was amazingly attentive, the food was delicious, the wine selection was excellent and the view to the sea was beautiful. Dinner was accompanied by a fantastic basket of breads, too! Atmosphere is lovely and we thoroughly enjoyed our evening there (not to mention the wines)

Cozy location. Popular with the locals, enjoyed it. Good value price. Would give 3.5 stars - it is good... was better than average but was not "very good" which is 4 stars.

Pequeño restaurant atendido por sus dueños,instalado en una Antigua casa, donde se preparan platos artesanales con productos locales de estacion.Acompañados por una amplia variedad de vinos incluidas varias Bodegas Patagonicas
This small restaurant is 15/20 minutes by walk away from the Ocean front crowd.
The location is very nice, and as soon as you enter the lovely owner offers you a glass of very good wine ( in our case it was a sparkling rose').
The owner and the only waitress were very nice and helpful, but the food was not as good as we were expecting Reading all the good reviews on tripadvisor.
My octopus was ok, although the paprika cover was burned in some points. The meat was also ok.
If we had stayed more time we would have probably given another try, but tempus fugit, and after a couple of days in Puerto Madryn we were heading to a new destination in Patagonia

I had some kind of triple-decker cheese Sandwich (with four kinds of cheese), and it was massive. Tasty, though, and reasonably priced at something like $150 Arg. Pesos. I also tried some of the local beer (can't remember which, now), and it was great. I definitely recommend grabbing una cerveza here if not some food as well.
The staff was friendly, and the atmosphere was relaxed but lively (after 10pm, of course). Indoor and outdoor Seating as well.

Excelente Lugar Para Comer Pastas Y Pizzas , No Hace Muchos Meses Que Inauguro Tengo Fotos Ubicado En La Calle Paralela A La Costanera
While opinions vary, Italian food in Argentina isn’t good. It’s a very pale comparison to the original, and if you actually like real Italian food you will disappointed. Quality, however, varies quite a lot. We had Argentinian-Italian food which were barely edible (or not at all), and some that were better, though still miles away from anything you can refer to as Italian food. Giuseppe is one of the latter group.
First, they mean well. They actually try to make good food, and they don’t cater only to tourists. Real locals eat here with their families, and this is always a great sign.
Second, they actually try to make pasta the way it should be made. It isn’t particularly good, nor it is even close to al dente, but it’s ok. We tasted a few kinds of Raviolis stuffed with cheese and Penne Rigate with Arrabiata sauce. Everything was ok, but in a place which is a culinary disaster such as Puerto Madryn, ok can be a great thing. If you are in the neighborhood and are trying to avoid the tourist traps, I’d give it a shot :)

The 2nd night of our stay in Puerto Madryn we ate at this restaurant. The server didn't speak English and the service was slow the food was alright but glad it wasn't the 1st dinner we had here

Ate dinner here on second night in town after having had a drink here on first night.
Has style and decor of British pub that is moderately trendy.
Staff pleasant and smiley but service was slow and even absent at times. Saw our main courses left on counter to go cold while waitress still hadn't cleared first course.
That said, food was pretty good - better than we had at two establishments rated higher on TA.
Atmosphere is quite buzzy.
Worth a go.

Lizard Cafe is a place for everyone that wishes to enjoy good food and have a good time at the same time, the atmosphere is very pleasent so its the music, the waiters are as friendly as they can be and, if you add the good prices that we have, you will see that Lizard Cafe its the best option in the city, we look forward to seeing you around .
Lizard was the only place we knew would be open at 6.30 for a meal (lots of restaurants in Puerto Madryn dont seem to open until around 8pm). Popped in and it wasn't busy. The waiter, a young guy, was super friendly. We ordered mushroom pizza and hot chocolates because the weather was so cold out. The pizza was great, piping hot, super cheesy, generous quantities - and we were given another small pizza for free. Apparently they offer 50% extra between 8 and 10pm, so this was a very kind gesture given we arrived before that time. We'd gladly return to the Lizard, and the excellent music was just another plus. (Oh, you can of course get Takeout, and apparently they deliver to hotels, though I'm not sure if there are any conditions on distance or minimum order. Give them a call though, they're very friendly).
