La Cancela

The atmosphere is good here and it's always busy.
We each had a pizza and shared the squid tips starter. It is the second time that we have eaten here and although the food didn't taste too salty when eating it, we were both awake several times in the night with a raging thirst. We didn't have this problem any other night of the holiday, so it must have been salty food at La Cancela, as we didn't eat or drink anything else. Pity.

We found this gem whilst driving though and stopped for food (Mum,Dad,Grandma,2 children aged 3 and 13). We enjoyed the atmosphere and food that much that we returned there to eat on another 2 occasions. The food on offer catered for all and the kids menu helped a lot. The staff were friendly and they had English menus which is very helpful.
We are there a around 08:00pm one evening and there was a man playing a guitar on stage and that was also very pleasant to listen to whilst we are.
All in all its a great place to stop by and have breakfast lunch or dinner.

We had a late afternoon/very early evening dinner at El Arco this past august.
We loved the freshly made juices and the burgers were also very well prepared, great size and came with nice crisp fries.
All that for a very reasonable price and chilled outdoor Seating on the walled Terrace.
Definately going back if we visit Lajares again.

We had coffee and cakes one afternoon when we were blown off the beach. Service can be a little slow if it is busy. There is a good selection of cakes - the lemon tart was good and the apple cake OK. The coffee was good.
The roof Terrace is very sheltered from the wind and it's a great place to pass a few minutes. There is a children's play area on the roof Terrace.

Warm, cosy, friendly, great coffee, tangy fresh juice, delicious pastries. Couldn’t fault it. We went back but couldn’t get a seat. Much better than the one in Lajares where’s the staff were curt and the Seating area was cold.

El Patio de Lajares

We picked this restaurant for One of the diners during our holidays in Fuerteventura, mainly because of its listing in the 2014 Michelin guide with two spoons/forks. It was the only Michelin listed restaurant in the Corralejo area we could find. I had checked the menu on the website of the restaurant that was rather classical, but seemed OK.
Upon arrival we were welcomed by what appeared to be the only employee. A nice lady from the Islands, that was however not treated with much respect by the owner/ chef. A slight disappointment was the fact that there was no menu list available as indicated on the website ("that's old stuff") but there was only a set three course menu available at € 41 per head. We could choose one from two starters proposed, one from two entrees proposed and a dessert. My wife had smoked salmon, me terrine de foie gras, both correctly prepared! We choose for the main dish the chateaubriand for two people, that was cooked in a good way and accompanied by potatoe puree and mushroom sauce. Everything tasted really well. The dessert, a strawberry soup with vanilla cream, was a bit less to my likings. My wife's hot crepes with apple were much appreciated.
We had exchanged some conversation with the chef during the dinner as guests and hosts normally do in these kind of situations. However, after the only other guests, also a couple, had left, the chef took the liberty to sit himself at our table. That in itself is already a turn off, but if you mean that you can start to smoke cigarettes, drink four beers in half an hour and only should tell how great you are yourself and how second ranked everyone and everything else is, then that really closes a door.
We would have come back for the food, but we were definitively turned off by the intrusive attitude of the chef/ owner!
In case you would want to go there, reservation is always obligatory.

so we had a list to this beautiful hidden gem.
The building is stunning, the service was perfect. We arrived without a booking for a table of four and where seated straight away. Sharing platters, one cheese and one meat where superb and very plentiful. Pizza and lasagna ordered and not one complaint about anything.
Looking forward to returning very soon.

Since our last visit about 1-1/2 years ago the restaurant has undergone an extensive renovation. Before it was more of a traditional looking Spanish restaurant with a central bar, dark furniture and walls. Now they have moved the bar to the left hand side, making the dining area bigger with light colours for the walls and furniture (thus giving it a more modern look). I have to say that we quite liked the old version, but I can imagine that in order to compete with the other restaurant around the new look was chosen.
However, the food is still very good! We had grilled tuna and a grilled half chicken both from the bbq. Accompanied by a salad and Canarian potatoes with the tuna & fried potatoes with the chicken. And as before they have a multilingual menu with staff speaking English as well.

We had lunch here - great burgers and a large, cold beer each - faultless.
Service is good, but there is a slight wait whilst the food is cooked fresh to order - no problem with that!
Great value. We would have returned more, but the place was closed for a few days (it reopened just as we were coming home).
