Les Embruns

Reviewed By CindyAnn37 - Somerset

My husband and I were both very impressed with Les Embruns. The situation was excellent – just a short walk from the hotel we were staying in. The interior was bright and colourful, and the welcome was friendly. The dinner menu had a good selection of dishes – I chose the sea bass, and my husband had a Charolais steak. Both were cooked to perfection, and presented well. We finished up with the chocolate fondant. The meal was accompanied with a very good 2011 Chinon red wine.
The only negative point was that two diners had bought dogs into the restaurant with them, and both were a bit noisy at times. We find this often in restaurants in France.

However, overall we were very pleased with our meal, and would recommend this restaurant to others.

I'm not a great pizza fan finding most heavy & stodgy. Pizza's from Chez Steph were the opposite. Fresh tasting ingredients, light thin crust & plenty of topping. On a retail park behind La Flotte near Intermarche supermarket. Recommended highly.

really nice little restaurant in La Flotte on the sea front with good an friendly service and a good menu which is neither overpriced nor pretencious. Moules are especially good - and they will do smaller Moules portions for adventurous but less hungry children.

First off, Rauzan Gassies 2003 only €53! Worth the trip alone. One of the best wine lists on the island awaits you here. Not so many choices on the menu. Food was good. A couple of menus available. Generous servings. Best courses were the amuse and dessert. First time here and will definitely return.

I'll make this as simple and as honest as I can. First day out of an 8day stay in La Flotte, we went there, were seated down, as we were waiting for menus another waiter came over to tell us we couldn't be served, we...MoreBla...Bla...Bla...

Hotel Le Richelieu Restaurant

Reviewed By Cindy B - Kailua-Kona, Hawaii

Perhaps we arrived on an "off" night for the kitchen AND the staff. After being seated, it was 10 mins before any of the wait staff noticed we were there. The hotel (this dining room is within the Hotel le Richelieu)solicits English speaking patrons but offers little help in translating the menu and we ran through 4 staff members in an effort to order a martini. Had the view not been out-of-this-world, my husband's initial exasperation would have led us to the exit. (Unusual:even the printed menu had no English to describe contents)
Starters were only so-so. My escargot were wrapped in bitter cabbage/brussel sprout leaves which detracted from the delight of their contents and herbs of the dish.
Our main courses were both white fish...1 whole, 1 fillet. Each were smothered by artfully created piles and triangles of God-knows-what, making our entree completely indiscernible and burying any tasty flavours of what may have been high-quality, fresh fish.
Finally, I must say during our 16 days in France, this was the single most unpalatable meal we came across AND (we are very sophisticated world travelers/diners)the prices on the menu were utterly outrageous. Quite possibly the most inflated I have witnessed in over 25 years! Save your money! Visit the local pizzeria.

Cote Jardin

I remembered eating here a couple of years ago and so hubby and I returned last night. We sat in the back garden area which is all covered and has heaters which is great on a cool evening.
Truly the best meal of the last 3 weeks, and we've had a lot! The fois gras is to die for and the duckling so tender served with tiny potatoes and a lovely salad. Hubby had the steak and it was cooked to perfection along with frites and a salad.
Dessert was the profiteroles which were huge and delicious. The service was perfect and wine selection great. If I could give it 10 stars I would. Also nice that it is tucked on a back street away from all the tourist spots. I would suggest a reservation as it is not large and fills quickly. The open kitchen is spotless.

La Poissonnerie du Port

Reviewed By LombardLondon_UK - London, UK

It is a bit of a mystery as to why this restaurant has attracted so many adverse reviews. Perhaps it is because it has an upscale name and is located next door to THE best restaurant on the Island (L'Ecailler). It sets high expectations whereas In reality, it is a mid-price restaurant with a simple kitchen that is competent at what it does and it should not be judged by Michelin standards.
The staff were very pleasant and obliging, there was a buzzy atmosphere around the room, and the food was enjoyable. However, most of the main courses do seem to be accompanied by the same crushed potato and green salad so this could become repetitive if you intended to visit more than once.
My wife had good memories of previous visits and I am glad she persuaded me to overcome my Reservations. There are many restaurants that are best avoided in La Flotte (particularly by the seafront, away from the harbour) but La Poissonerie is not one of them! Enjoy.......

Recommended by our host. Stuff were friendly, but the place is pretty run down, the chairs are all in poor condition the seats are all peeling off.
Foods is ok but honestly to spend an overall 92 euros for 2. I prefer to spend 120 and go upper class places.
