Ich geh total gern ins Downtown. Die Cocktails, Milchshakes und Joghurtshakes sind der Hammer. Besonders mit grüner Gurke. Absolut zu empfehlen! Die Küche ist bis 1 offen also auch was für Leute die gern mal noch einen Mitternachtsnack zu sich nehmen wollen. Das Chili con Carne ist der Hit und die Portionen sind mega. Ich werde das Downtown auch weiterhin besuchen.

Waren am Sonntag in Gera und waren am frühen Nachmittag (14 Uhr) auf der Such nach einem Mittagessen. Haben dann den Jagdhof "gefunden" und haben es nicht bereut. Nach einem kurzen Spaziergang durch den Wald kommt man zu dem rustikalen Gasthaus. sind in dem sehr gepflegten Garten gesessen. Vorab, das Servicepersonal war ausnahmslos sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit, dafür vollstes Lob. Hatten dann von der Spezialkarte die Pfifferlinge mit Rührei und Bratkartoffeln. Die Pfifferlinge hatte noch eine schöne Konsistenz und waren sehr gut zubereitet, wenn auch noch die letzte Rafinesse fehlte. Das Rührei war gut und auch Bratkartoffel waren sehr gut. Der Salat mit Hühnerfilet war aus frischen Zutaten und die Filets waren gut gebraten. Zum Abschluss haben wir dann noch einen sehr guten Espresso bekommen. Alles in allem ein sehr gutes Mittagsessen.

The „Kuckucksdiele“ is a typical local Restaurant with very good food and a nice atmosphere. A bid outside the inner city with opportunities for some walk.

In the pedestrian area of Gera this Restaurants offers nice outside Seating and a Monday Schnitzel day so I took it.
Food: Ok the mushroom cream was factory made, as were the Bratkartoffeln but for the prcie you had to expect this. The Schnitzel was well prepared, tasting well und juicy. the beer was also nice with it. Nothing Special but good value for the Price.
The waitress was frienldy and did their Job well but suffered from the fact that 4 waitresses were outside but the bar was not manned so my beer took way too Long. Apart from this, a nice place if you are for some comfort Food.

Nice classy, biggish steak restaurant.
We all had the fillet steak. Three of our group had medium rare steaks but they said it could have been warmer and less bloody. They also had asparagus in hollandaise sauce which was a seasonal special and very nice.
I had my steak (with pepper sauce) medium/well done and it was spot on/perfect/faultless, nicely char-grilled and hot.
I asked where the truly fantastic beef was from, the waitress had to ask the kitchen and it is Uruguayan.
Malbec wine was delicious.
Service was nice and polite but uninformed and a bit slow towards the end (even though it was a Monday which is a quiet day in this state of Germany, Thuringen).
We would return again.

Das Cafe Mittendrin ist nicht nur ein Kleinod, es ist der Geheimtipp in Gera schlechthin. In einer sehr gemütlichen Atmosphäre kann man hier ein leckeres gesundes Frühstück, Brunch oder Kaffee+Kuchen genießen. Der Clou sind die selbstgemachten Limonaden und die selbst gebackenen Kuchen. Alles ist sehr gemütlich und das Cafe nicht allzu groß, es wirkt alles wie in einem großen Wohnzimmer. Natürlich kann man sich auch Kuchen, Kaffeespezialitäten und Limonaden im Strassenverkauf und außer Haus mitnehmen, es ist hier eine kleine Theke vorhanden. Da vor allem das Frühstück sehr beliebt ist, sollte man hier vorher reservieren. Und dann kann man sich leckere Waffeln, schmackhafte Brote, Suppen, Salate usw munden lassen. Das Cafe hat NUR wochentags von 9-17 Uhr geöffnet

Zeer gastvrije ontvangst en bediening. Het voorgestelde dagmenu met een keuze van of vis of vlees van rond de 25 euro was degelijk. De prijzen voor de wijn zijn redelijk en de kwaliteit is goed. De tafels staan ruim uit elkaar. Ruime parking net om de hoek. Gelegen aan een mooi plein en onderdeel van het prachtige stadstheater.

This is a different kitchen, but very good. It's the best of a long day cycling. The service is very nice and the food is even better. It's a recommendation for everyone ho loves to eat something different as the normal German kitchen.

We spent a week in Gera and surrounding towns in Thuringen while following a Woman's professional cycling race. Good restaurants were hard to find, let alone open ones. The Bierhaus had a good selection of wines, excellent selection of local beers and we all enjoyed our meals. Pleasantly surprised.
