Pecks Restaurant

Pecks Restaurant was established in 1984 and still offers it's famous "Dinner at 8" concept, where all diners start a theatre of food at 8pm, and a sample dish of each option on the menu is presented by waiting staff and described, so that diners need never make the wrong selection. The menu is 5 courses on Tuesday and Wednesday, and 7 courses Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Unusually, and despite an extensive wine list, Pecks still invites diners to bring their own wine, on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evening, with no corkage charge.Pecks are dedicated to achieving the very best, and never stop pushing the standards even higher. All our dishes are freshly prepared by a kitchen brigade led by Head Chef Les Wassall – a Pecks veteran of over 10 years – highly skilled in complimenting classic British cooking with innovative and assured modern touches. In recent years, Pecks has opened at lunchtime, offering an impressive a la carte menu, and a daily plat du jour menu representing outstanding value for money - and more recently for afternoon tea.A firm favourite for discerning diners from far and wide, Pecks celebrates over 25 successful years with a fresh lease of life and numerous coverted awards. The restaurant is located close to historic Little Moreton Hall in Cheshire and below the famous landmark Mow Cop Castle, just over the Staffordshire border. Recently acquired by its most enthusiastic customers, local businessman Andrew Pear and his wife Sue - who liked the food so much they bought the restaurant. They are determined to continue in the vein that has made Pecks the venue of choice for generations of diners celebrating special occasions and the stylish makeover inspired by Sue provides an elegant backdrop to acclaimed standards of cuisine and service.

Dinner at eight never disappoints. As usual we chose different options for each course so we could sample as much as possible. Plum tomato soup and oxtail soup. Followed by lamb belly chip and ham, pistachio and pear terrine. Main/ entree were beef short rib with horseradish mash and sea trout with samphire and beurre blanc sauce. The amazing pudding selection is great because you can get half and half, so effectively 4 samples. We had the polenta orange cake and vodka cocktail, cheesecake (baked) and Nutella cake. As we couldn't finish the cheese they boxed it for us so we finished with tea, coffee and petit fours. All in all with prosecco, glasses, and refreshment, a well-priced and very enjoyable meal and evening. Staff are great as is service.

No issues with the lunch we had. However beware of the “winter offer” discount voucher from the website. I understood we would be entitled to 20% off the cost of food as per the voucher. Terms and conditions stated the voucher could not be used in conjunction with “any other offer/deal”. Accepted. On arriving at the pub I told a member of the bar staff I had a voucher - would it affect the offer if drinks went on the bill? The staff member said “no problem”, they would sort that the end when paying. We (4) ordered dishes from the set menu and a la carte. On paying we were told the voucher could not be used as it related to a la carte food only. When asked if the bill could be separated this was refused. This should have been pointed out when I showed the voucher on arrival. Also find it hard to accept that set menu food is classed as an “offer or deal”. Extremely disappointed to say the least!

Called on spec on a busy Sunday afternoon and they found us a table for 3.
A friend had recommended the carpetbagger steaks and in particular the new pepper carpetbagger steak. All three of us had them and they were just superb.
Nothing to fault this place, superb food and reasonable price served by very pretty waitresses.
Will be back very soon.

I visited Bojangles with four friends, unfortunately the only large table in the front room was occupied and the heating wasn't working in the back so we were offered a table for four in the front and had to add a perch on at the end, the food was really good and three course with a glass of wine for £15 was great , the service was excellent but the interior was very tired and it didn't really feel like an evening dinner, more great food in a coffee shop, maybe a table cloth might make it a bit more "evening" like!

Crema Deli

Reviewed By average_guy304 - Walsall

The food here is good and we enjoyed what we had. It just was not what we ordered. The" BLT " and the" omelette with bacon" were very tasty, but they lacked bacon . They included what appeared to be ham which had been steamed or microwaved. So if you love traditional grilled or fried bacon when you order your meal it might not appear at Crema. Nice people and nice food, obviously Italian based preparation. However, in England a BLT is quite specific in that should contain grilled or fried bacon....not ham. Same animal...different taste experience . So rating "Very good" but please Crema....serve up a bit of proper bacon when you advertise a dish as containing "bacon". You might be an Italian establishment. but 100% of English people know what bacon is. Also very disappointed at lack of gluten free food, especially bread, resulting in absolutely no Sandwich options whatsoever.

We had a lovely evening here on valentines day, its such a beautiful setting however only 3 stars for this visit mainly due to the bruschetta being really really salty, not sure why so much seasoning would be used.
There was a bit of moment with the music going haywire for about 5 minutes which killed the valentines mood a little and then when i received my sirloin steak which although very tender and cooked beautifully it was quite cold - i didn't complain at the time as I didn't want to ruin the other diners valentines - the rest was lovely and i'm sure if I had have said something that it would have been resolved, but it just wasn't perfect which is what we wanted really.

As we are not from the area and were meeting friends travelling through Cheshire we looked on TA for a pub for lunch. After Reading reviews for the Castle Inn it looked like it ticked all the boxes.
Well we were not disappointed. From the moment we walked in we were made to feel welcome and all the staff were very friendly and efficient. Our server was Melanie who was very nice and could not do enough to make sure we had everything we wanted.
As we were eating later in our hotel we only wanted a light lunch so we all opted for sandwiches with a side of chips. Well these were a meal in themselves and great value.
I had the beef with caramelised onions and Stilton, what a treat thoroughly enjoyable, in fact all of us enjoyed our choices.
We were told by Melanie that the cheesecake was her speciality but unfortunately none of us had any room to try it.
The unfortunate thing is this pub is a two and a half hour drive from home if it was closer we would like to use it regularly. Would have no hesitation in visiting again and would thoroughly recommend. What a lucky bunch of people living around Congleton to have this facility on their doorstep.
