Churu is a city in the desert region of Rajasthan state of India. It is known as gateway to the Thar Desert of Rajasthan. It is the administrative headquarters of Churu District. It lies in the Thar Desert on the National Highway-65 connecting Pali to Ambala and is a junction station on the railway line to Bikaner. It is near the shifting sand dunes of the Thar Desert and has grand havelis with marvelous fresco paintings, namely Kanhaiya lal Bagla ki Haweli and Surana Haweli, with hundreds of small windows. It also has some fine Chhatris. Near the town is a religious seat of the Nath sect of Sadhus where there are life-size marble statues of their deities and a place for prayers. There stands a Dharam Stup, a symbol of religious equality. At the centre of the town is a fort built about 400 years ago.

We were shown this place by the guide ( commission ! ) ......no ice, average food and relatively very expensive. More so than the nearby 5 * Mandawa Palace Hotel which has far superior surroundings and facilities.....even the beers were cheaper there ! .........and which is worth a visit in itself.

Excellent menu, restaurant overlooking Mandawa, in the centre of the village. Lovely view at sunset. Worth visiting just for the beautiful mosaics and paintings. The stairs to the restaurant may be a little difficult to navigate for some, however there is a lift I believe.

It’s central and easy to find if you follow the many signs carefully, just off the small square at the west end of the bazaar. There’s a courtyard with no views as well as indoor dining if it’s cold. As other reviewers have noted, though service appears efficient, the food takes forever to come – almost an hour for my small meal, when I was the only person in the place.
When it finally arrived, the food was reasonable but nothing special and my ‘vegetable pulao’ had only peas. It’s not too expensive but not as cheap as it appears, because they add 14% ‘tax’ to the menu prices without warning you. OK to try if you’re in town for a while. If it’s just a night or two, the cheaper Galaxy, just off the same square, is also better.

imagine sitting under a palace gazebo with thinly veiled curtains billowing in the warm breeze on a hot day- an ice cold drink arrives- you recline back on the high backed rattan chair sipping your beverage as the call to prayer resonates from a nearby mosque...so relaxing and lovely!

I really appreciated eating here, tasty and not slathered in oil, just slightly. I enjoyed local vegetables curries and fruits at breakfast were fresh and sweet. Loved the option to eat in the a.c. or, the garden or, rooftop patio. Great choices for any meal.

this was a serendipitous discovery when we started having Hunger pangs on our strenuous journey on UP roads that were riddled with potholes & we could not drive @ speed exceeding 30km/hr & did not come across any decent dhabas or restaurants during our journey from Nainital TO Rishikesh.
it is located on NH-74, on the corner before you take a right for Eastern Ganga canal road or Haridwar - najibabad road.
the washroom was a plus point with provision for handwashing + clean drinking water.
it is based on the same concept as Haldiram with quality better than Haldiram as far as quality of food is concerned. It has an extensive menu to choose from ranging from Indian snacks like samosa, dhokla, aloo poorie, to even Chinese items like Manchurian , garlic rice etc. & even Tibetan momos , south Indian dishes like dosas , biryani & various other Mughlai dishes, all authentic Indian sweetslike motichoor laddus , ras malai & some local sweets like paan petha stuffed with Gulkand & paan dressing & even fresh , thick curd. also, they make their own icecreams , cakes & pastries. they also have a party hall on the first floor & outside they have a chaat corner. we had samosas, veg momos, pineapple pastries, paan petha & fresh curd.The pineapple pastry was fresh with interspersed layers of pureed canned pineapples & the cream icing too was fresh & tasty & cost us only Rs 30 per piece , we loved them so much that we got 4 more packed to satisfy our sweet tooth later. next we tasted the paan petha which was refreshing. we also tasted some thick, fresh curd which was kept in an earthern pot & tasted yummy & even got some packed.This was better than the fresh curds that we had @ Ahuja milk bhandaar in Amritsar. If they spread as a national food chain , they can give tough competetion to Haldiram.s as well bcoz of their superior quality.
