We were a group of 7 people who visited Il Gusto Ristorante on 14 December 2017 for a birthday. After dining here a few times, but quite a while before, we decided to try it out again - what a big mistake we made thinking that the standard was still the same! 2 Of us ordered the same pasta dish, 2 ordered chicken espetada and the other 3 meals ranged from prawns to steak. We placed our order at 19h00 and the food only arrived at 20h30 - 1 1/2 hours after we placed our order!!. The 2 pasta dishes didn't look the same, although the same item was ordered. We asked the waiter why there was a difference and he mentioned that the kitchen didn't have enough of the specific type of pasta used for that particular dish. So they improvised and mixed 2 types of pasta. They never once came back to us to explain the situation to allow us to maybe choose something different. The 2 chicken "espetadas" had 3 chicken thighs (still with all the bones in it!) on a skewer! In my history of ordering espetadas, the meat was always deboned. By this time we were already so hungry and tired of waiting, that we decided to just eat and not send the food back. The restaurant was only half full, so there was no reason for our food to take that long (not that it would have been an excuse in any ways). Our waiter could not be found anywhere to ask about our long wait or to order drinks while we were waiting. Needless to say, by the time we were done with our main course, we decided that we did not want to wait for another hour for our desert and went to another restaurant to get desert from there. I will NEVER go back to Il Gusto - don't know how they get such a high rating in the 1st place! I would not suggest this place to anyone and would rather drive further to go somewhere else!

Peter, our host at Lakeview, recommended this restaurant and made the booking for us. It was close by and easy to locate. The restaurant was buzzy, without being too loud for conversation, the menu varied, and service impeccable. My husband and sister are still raving out the quality of their meals.

This is still the best place in Benoni to eat fish. The service is always good and friendly, the fish and food always good, the owner is always handson and there to make sure that everything is good.

I have been a regular diner here for more years than I can remember. But was really disappointed that our "Regular" table booked the day before was not available. Then now with a change in menu one or two of the favorite dishes are no longer offered. Then the final disappointment was when our food arrived, it was cold & was sent back to be warmed up, but only after looking for our waiter. Most of the waitron staff were just standing around chatting as was the manager. We will be back though, as I do accept all businesses & people can have a bad day.

The venue is good and the staff are friendly and efficient. The food is amazing and the fish is as fresh as being on the coast. I have been there a good many times and each time has been with a smile.

Having being to Cafe Bellini some time ago when it was great, now again it was also good quality food well presented with good service but the difference was that they have now put up big shade area outside. So in our hot summers & sometimes rain there is a pleasant area to sit..The Italia & Kota pancakes can be reccommended.

If there was anything wrong on this day, it was that the service was shocking. Music was blaring away during shift change, waiters and cleaners mopped up while people were seated and loud exchanges between staff was the order of the day.
The comfort food was good, enough to drown sorrows.
On weekends I've seen this m&b packed to the rafters so as I say, it must have been that one bad visit.

Lovely family dinner, nice atmosphere, lovely aroma's from the kitchen.
Bunny chow was big and yummy, butter chicken was great and the lamb paneer also tasty. The Roti wrap I feel is over priced and should maybe a portion of 2 at that cost. Service was great and you need to understand that it is not a fast food place so sit back chill out while they make you meal from fresh.
