Can't beat the view especially at sunset. We definitely timed it right. The lobster...we've had better. The lobster wasn't bad per se, it was just made for a novice. I'm sure they get bus loads of newbies. They pre-cut a lot of the shell, which drained the water making it easier to crack open. But doing that made the claws almost cold. They also could have been a little more generous with the butter. I didn't ask for more - I'm sure they would have given me another if I had. I ordered the fish chowder and I finished 3/4 of i t. The waitress almost looked put off that I hadn't finished it. I was saving room for lobster. We also didn't eat the bread for which she also looked at us strange. Good overall.

We found this place by chance while driving through the Cabot trail. It is a traditional diner with a selection of seafood and chicken and meat options. We tried the lobster wrap and the burger and they were both quite tasty. The service was quick, and the waitress was very friendly. It offers budget prices.

Went here with my hubby on a weeknt and it was uber busy. Friendly service and nice looking restaurant. Food was, dunno, ok I guess, nothing bad, but far from great. Bread basket was very good, with good variety. My hubby had 3 plates of mussels, first 2 were dried out and shriveled the size of a bean, 3rd plate were finally served out of the pot, plump but needed seasoning. Soup was pretty wet, this is not a chowder as we not it. It's very wet, but full of fish/seafood. I had to season it. Sadly, the lobster was overboiled or sat out. It was dry. So dissappointed. Desert was good, but nothing OMG. Maybe it was a bad nite, dunno. Would I go back, no. Too bad.

We entered to see the menu. Immediately someone came to help us. When he found we were vegetarians, he gave us the vegetarian menu.
There was a greats atmosphere. A guitarist was playing some soft music. He was very good.
The restaurant was well decorated and there were many customers. I liked the view on the lake.
Our food was delicious and the price was quite reasonable. Next time I am in Baddeck, I will stop here again! So delicious!

The ambient is really nice, we had a table with a view. Sorry to say the food was not equally good. We had the seafood chowder, good but nothing special, too watery, the lobster and crab dip (too cheesy, you could taste only cheese, and even if the taste was good, there should be also the lobster taste)and then the fisherman stew. Let's talk about this plate: soooo few fish and scallops, there were only lots of carrots, celery and spices over a watery tomato sauce. The pork wrapped in bacon was fine, but the portion was really too small. I'm sure they can do much better!

We had no Reservations for dinner but went at the recommendation of our hotel. We were told no problem bit it would be 15/20 minutes. It was 45. We waited another 15 for someone to acknowledge we were there. Our server apologized for the wait and took our order. Apps appeared 30 minutes later. Dinner was no where to be found. When we asked, our server said she would check. Another 15 minutes later we were told it was being plated. We watched her return to the dining room
TWICE without our meals. On
Her third visit, we informed her that we would pay for our apps and wine but we were leaving. We had been travelling all day and were starved !! If they were too busy to accommodate us, I would have rather they told us than make us wait for almost 3 hrs and leave still unfed ! We asked for the manage ad we left who muttered what I think was an apology and comped the half litre of wine. We were really looking forward to dinner there since it looked beautiful:(

We were looking for a filling breakfast and initially thought that this cafe was limited to pastries. Not so! They have a number of well prepared full breakfast options. Also, they do excellent espresso drinks. I asked for a dry cappuccino and it was made perfectly. Oh yes, and the pastries are exceptional!

We did not actually eat at this restaurant as it was already closed when we arrived (the motel where we were staying having given us the incorrect information about hours of operation). The owner of the restaurant just happened to be outside in her car as she had stopped by to check something. She apologized (unnecessarily) and offered to drive us to another place nearby that was indeed open. On the way we informed her that we were the guys who had had a serious car accident just down the road from her in the afternoon. Shortly after we had returned to the motel following our dinner, there was a knock on the door and a hotel staff member handed us an envelope. Inside was a card with a lovely message of encouragement and two fifty-dollar bills! This is Nova Scotia kindness at its very best. We went to the restaurant the next day to thank the owner for her thoughtfulness and generosity, but she was on her day off. An unforgettable experience for us. Thank you!

This place wasn't really poor, aside from the waiter taking a long time to come for our food order, after having taking our drink order and delivering the wines efficiently, but as noted by other reviewers, the $12 seafood chowder portion was truly miserly. The chowder itself wasn't as good as others we've had elsewhere in Nova Scotia, but worse was the fact we've had a "cup" of chowder as large as this in other places. And elsewhere chowder generally comes with bread or something.
The Caesar salad wasn't a real Caesar either, being dominated by bacon bits, but it wasn't a bad salad, once you let go of the idea it was being sold as a Caesar.
That we ordered one 6 oz Jost cab, and one 9 oz Jost cab, and the pours seemed nearly equal, was also perplexing. It was our first go with Nova Scotia wine, and while it wasn't great wine, it was acceptable and seemed to match the standard for imported wines on open wine lists hereabouts.
Some people we spoke with said the $16 (or something) burger was good.
