One of the most famous inns in Denmark offers wonderful accommodation in very comfy rooms and lovely views to the sea.
The extra benefit is the wonderful restaurant that serves you excellent food prepared with local ingredients, much from their own garden.
The service is marvelous, constantly wishing you the very best experience, which is easily achieved due to beautiful and large rooms, ranging from the marvelous entrance to the bar and fireplace further on to several rooms in the back, where you are served an excellent breakfast and even larger rooms for the ultimate dining experience, during summer with a fantastic view to the sea through enormous windows from floor to ceiling.
For my Mothers 75 years birthday we were served the Hallundsbæk 6 courses almanac menu, very interesting and tasteful. The menu varies throughout season. This week we were offered very nice lumpfish row followed by a brilliant serving of fish, wonderful duck, perfect pigeon, a varied selection of cheese (the least impressive part, but there were plenty to choose from) and a great dessert combination. The homemade bread, especially the buns made with malt, honey and cocoa – with the honey and cocoa also being ingredients in one of the two butter combinations (the other traditional and lovely salted butter) was a creation made in heaven.
If you stay overnight, you will have another challenge the following morning finding empty spots in your stomach for a great breakfast presentation.
All combined leads you to wonder why Michelin hasn’t favored this restaurant with more than a recommendation by now, but all you good Trip Advisor readers should flock here. An experience you will never forget, is waiting for you.

We had a very nice lunch here. I can recommend the burgers and fish filet. The service is perfect and friendly.

We have been here the past three years.
The service is quite stable at the same worrying level... although one must say the food is quite good.
Staff seems understaffed at Friday night dinner - and often forget orders for drinks.
We stayed two nights as a large group and they had actually intended that we should have identical meals both evenings... strangely disappointing.
Location is good and easy to reach shopping street and harbor.
Their new concept is some Viking theme - and they also changed the restaurant's name to something very hard to pronounce "Roulw" or something.

Gl. Brydegaard One of a kind!

Charming location - Already when approaching Gl. Brydegaard, you will get the feeling of arriving at a unique location where nature unfolds in all its glory. Here you are close to the forest and the beach - and “Feddet” with its large open spaces is just beneath your feet.

Authentic food Our kitchen produces everything from scratch. We bake and make jams, pickles and so on. The food is made from seasonal fresh produce. We serve honest food, and we focus on local produce, ecology and animal welfare.

Informal atmospheric - the frames of Gl. Brydegaard are simple and beautiful with room for unique things, i.e. our tepees. We salute the modern and contemporary decor whilst respecting our history. At Gl. Brydegaard the sky is wide and blue and we have chosen not to have TVs in our rooms enabling you to relax completely and reload your batteries.
We took a pictures of a wedding that had place at Gamle Brydegaard. We spent there many, many hours looking carefully through a photo lense and making wedding day special. It was very easy at place like Brydegaard. Everything is surrounded by beautiful danish fields and nature. There are many artistic, small things you can be surprised of. I am not going to write about them because it is really good if you find them yourself :) Food that is served at Brydegaard is ecological and simply amazing. I remember particularly one fish-dish served at the wedding day that was probably one of the best we have ever eaten. It was just a poetry. So, to make it short. If you want to spent some quite days, far from chaos of the world, with a sound of sea, on the sunny, wild beach... Or if you want your wedding day be special, lighted by sun going through apple trees... Or if there is any other purpose. This place is just wonderful.

Why low expectations? Because this restaurant sits in a hotel, Glamsbjerg Hotel, which does not really look as it it could have a gourmet restaurant. The building is a little tired. Renovations are proceeding, but the place could do with a total make-over.
The restaurant inside the hotel is small, but quite cozy. The night, we had dinner, there were12 dinner guests, not very many but it was a Monday which is usually a slow day. I should think they might be able to seat a bit more than double that number, but it is still a small restaurant. It was a lucky day for the the one waiter on duty because not only did he have to serve 12 guests but he was also manning the reception desk at the same time. But he was young and quick on his feet and he managed. Very polite young man too.
We never saw the cook who was also alone in his kitchen we were told. We would liked to see him because he had prepared a very fine meal indeed. We had starters, main course, desert, wine as well as coffee afterwards. The main course was meat from kangaroo, something we had never tried before in this country but it was as everything else in this meal cooked to perfection.
I must add that I am a difficult guest, suffering from a number of food allergies which means that practically no meal can be served as presented in the menu. If a restaurant can manage these changes without making the guest feel he is the cause of trouble, then it is fine place. This is a fine place.
We can only recommend it. The hotel is not fascinating, nor the immediate surroundings but the restaurant is so good that it deserves a detour.

Cafe Banken is a nice cafe in central Bergen and a varied menu including some local specialities. We had an enjoyable lunch in the rear courtyard.
The only disappointing aspect of the meal was the inattentive staff - having to ask for menus, then ask for English menus, then later having to give up waiting for the bill before paying inside.

In Spiseriet we serve seasonal food freshly harvested every day from our fields or Gardens. All meat is made from the farms own organic, free range animals. Spiseriet is currently in The White Guide and holds the organic gold brand, which means that all the food served is organic. The menu differs from week to week depending on what amazing crops is available on the soil that surround us and in our butcher house.
A very unusual concept, with no menu choices, you just need to accept what the cook happens to make that day. In our case it was a not so appealing beef stew and cheese cake. While the desert was well prepared, with dried and fresh fruit, some of us would never have opted for the stew had there been a choice.
The fresh produce all coming from the castle farm offers a great potential for traditional Danish cooking, and to judge from the number of guests and the difficulty in getting a reservation, the restaurant seems to be off to a flying start.
But if it is going to be a lasting success, a minimum requirement will be to offer at least a couple of choices.

Café Gårdhaven is a really nice and cozy place where you can sit and enjoy a good meal. There are all kinds of coffee, tea, beers, hot chocolate and beautiful and very tasty homemade cakes. You can sit inside or outside and enjoy the food. It is also possible to buy nice and beautiful gifts; Tea, coffee, caramels, chocolate, beers and a lot of other things. Go visit the little café and enjoy the good service. We are looking forward seeing you.
Just happen by as I was in town on another occasion and need a bite to eat. Fantastic people who made me feel at home and the food was definitely good. Not Haut Cusine -- I had a burger with cheese and bacon! :-) The cheesecake was excellent and to be recommended.
