An idyllic country inn perched on the fellside overlooking the Winster Valley. The pub offers a delicious menu served daily, a great range of cask and bottled beers, superb wine list all in the most beautiful setting. Roaring log fires, low beamed ceilings and quirky seating areas welcome you in the colder months. The large outdoor seated terrace enables you to soak up the amazing views whilst enjoying a relaxing drink, fab food, or both! If you can stick around, we have two lovely cottages and five double suites to base yourself whilst enjoying the delights of the inn and it's surrounding vistas. Dogs are welcome in the bar area, and we also have some dog friendly accommodation too.

Super Lunch @ a Super Location

Visited on Bank Holiday Monday and had a lovely lunch, I had a superb Burger and my partner had the fish & chips which were equally tasty and plentiful. Great atmosphere and lovely staff will be back soon, ohhh and the locally Bowness brewed Blonde Ale was not bad too.

Beautiful Scenery

Reviewed By Michelle B

This is a beautiful place on a working farm. Sheep, goats, chickens, donkeys, cows. And the scenery is just wow! The shepherds hut was lovely. It was small and cosy and rustic. It was clean enough. The toilet and shower are a short walk away, shared with campers. The shower costs £1. The one toilet was clean. Woke at 2am and it was freezing!!! There was a heater but we didn’t find that out until morning.

Better apartments to stay in

Reviewed By J3041JAangelac

We have been staying here for over 20 years. Book each year. Stayed in many apartments from the most expensive to this one - No 32. There was just two of us so thought we would book this one. Paid over £700 for the weekend. The apartment was dated. The pictures on line are from years ago. The bathroom needs updating and was not clean. The sofa had seen better days. No stuffing in it at all. The blinds were broken in bedroom and full of dust. Looked like they hadn’t been hoovered for months even years. Really dissatisfied with this apartment. I did email reception to convey to the owner about the above and the manager was supposed to respond. Still no reply. Will not book this apartment again. Do not be put off as the other apartments we have stayed in are fantastic and the place is lovely. Walk in to Bowness is about right for a stroll.

Perfect stay

Reviewed By teejaybeeBristolUK

Second time we have stayed here, the change of ownership seems seamless and in fact subtle changes by the new owner makes this place even better. We stay in the “Loft” which has a little balcony you can sit out on and admire the views towards Bassenthwaite Lake. Cosy, comfortable and has everything you need. A most excellent pub (The Sun Inn) about a mile away it’s a perfect location. So good we’ve booked for next year already.

Lovely Weekend in the Peak District

Spent a lovely weekend at Toft Hall in the stunning Peak District for a family reunion. The house was huge, with lots of space for all of us to mingle together but also spend some time by ourselves. Slapped right in the middle of the countryside so we went for walks every day. Many a competitive games was spent in the games room! Finally would recommend the Red Lion pub down the road also!

Zero Customer Service

Reviewed By nikki27102016

Phoned Lakelovers Windermere office to ask if they could arrange for Champagne to be placed in a holiday cottage (as a surprise) in advance of one of my colleagues staying there. I was told that was a nice gesture and that they would transfer me to the right department to arrange it. I was transferred to their head office who told me that they did not offer this service due to the cost and effort of someone having to arrange it. I'm sure one of the housekeeping team could have arranged this and it would have made for an excellent guest check-in experience. Clearly Lakelovers aren't interested in going that extra mile for customers.

Peaceful, relaxing and wholesome stay!

Reviewed By FionaSmith100

Just back from a fantastic 3 night bank holiday weekend break. We stayed in Dairyman's cottage which was spacious, comfortable and had all the appliances and things we needed to make our stay super pleasant. Sally-Ann and Dave are incredible hosts, and were really great with our 2 and a half year old around the farm, letting him help feed the pigs, goats, lambs, calves and chicken and collect the chickens eggs. He had the best time on the farm, both helping out and also playing on the swings and slides and with the toy tractors (and playing with all the locks and bolts on the barn doors!). We were met on arrival by Tommy the ginger cat, who showed us around the cottage, a pleasure! (we arrived very late and had arranged that the key would be left for us). Sally-Ann had left some delicious treats for us, including THE FLUFFIEST lemon drizzle I have ever tried. We ordered the breakfast pack- 100% would recommend- all locally sourced (the eggs and sausages from animals on the farm), the farmhouse loaf was delicious too! Our favourite bit was Skye had 5 week old puppies which were so cute and fluffy! We all slept really well, the beds were really comfortable and it was so dark and quiet that our human 5am alarm clock even slept in til gone 630 every day! The cottage was really well insulated too, which meant, although as soon as we opened the windows in the morning we could hear the delightful noises of lambs, kids and calves baaing, bleating and mooing, it was super quiet indoors. My 2 labradors enjoyed their stay too and were mega chilled in the lovely environment. We can't wait to go back!

Home Away From Home

Reviewed By Warren360

Hall Hills is old farm buildings which have been converted into several cottages. The owners have made clever use of the space and so our cottage was comfortable, spacious, and had everything we needed while also having a quirky charm. A well equipped kitchen, good choice of entertainment, comfortable lounge dining and bedroom spaces, terrace outside to relax at the end of the day and watch the sheep grazing on the hills over the valley. I also loved the EV charging point, which gave the assurance of a day out touring and then a chance to recharge the car overnight, ready to go out exploring again the next day. We welcomed on arrival with a welcome gift basket and then left undisturbed, although the owners were always close by if needed. It offered everything I needed for a hone away from home and I will definitely stay again when returning to the Lakes.
