Went to visit a family plot that has just been refurbished. However was very surprised at the number of well know peoples graves in this cemetery. Worth a visit.

We visited the cemetery (my first visit) to do some research into my good lady's ancestors and I was very surprised at the size of the place. It's really peaceful in there with some historical buildings too, including Windleshaw Chantry. There are some local celebrity graves to spot too, including important members of the Pilkington and Beecham family...plus hundreds of war graves, including three soldiers awarded the Victoria Cross. Despite it lying next to one of the busiest roads in the UK, it has a sereneness about it and is nice to wander and ponder life, whilst amongst the dead.
