Eagles Flying

Eagles Flying is a scientifically run Wildlife Sanctuary specializing on Birds of Prey and Owls. We focus on "hands on" interaction between our well trained animals and our visitors. During our educational flying demonstrations members of the audience can have a bird of prey land on their hand or have Eagles, Falcons, Hawks or Vultures stoop inches over their heads while Scientists inform in a friendly and fun way. Our visitors can also visit our unique "Touch-Zoo" where they can play and pet "Tui & Alan" our Foxes, get pick pocketed by "Grizzly" our tame Raccoon, have "Monty" our 4 meter Python around their shoulders or get up close and personal with any of the other unusual animals. Get closer than you have ever been to the masters of the sky. Eagles Flying really is an unforgettable experience and a must see for people of all ages and interests.

Thanks a mil for a great day out. Brilliant for kids and adults alike. Well kept sanctuary with lovely, knowledgeable staff. The show with birds of prey is great and very interesting. Some kids/adults get to participate. But don't worry if your child doesn't get picked, you can do lovely pictures at the end and all the kids who want to, can hold an owl (the highlight of the day for my son who is a big Harry Potter fan :-) The petting farm was a bonus. Among other animals, you could see a fox, a raccoon up-close. The staff answered all your questions. We will be back. Keep up the wonderful work that you are doing there. It is inspirational.

The Lost Valley

The Lost Valley offers a unique window into the cultural heritage of the west of Ireland. Indeed it is itself arguably the finest memorial of the Great Irish Famine that remains today. As The Lost Valley is an active working farm, visitors can experience life on the farm with pet lamb feeding for younger adventurers, a working sheep dog demonstration and a sheep shearing demonstration in season on request. Meeting point/Reception is located at the lost valley - Silver Strand, Louisburgh, Co. Mayo, Ireland.

This place is truly a "hidden gem" and definitely off the beaten track. With Gerard's lived experience, his vast knowledge of Irish history, his easy and informative style combined with the spectacular and rugged beauty of the valley, this is a most unique way to spend three hours on the edge of the Atlantic. Very good value for €20 each. Highly recommended.

Knockma Forest Walk

Reviewed By Athenry72 - Athenry, Ireland

We had a sunny afternoon out with the kids at Knockma. We got parking in the grounds of the park but it was busy. There was a nice avenue and gentle gradient introduction to the trail. The paths were moderately steep but no problem for anybody with average fitness and mobility. Paths would be a challenge for buggies. The path verges off the forest trail to the summit and the views were fantastic overlooking Connemara mountains, Lough Corrib and all the way to Sliath Aughty. There were nice seated areas along the way for a rest at your leisure. In completion of them loop, I guess about 60+ mins there was a coffee vendor serving drinks and snacks. After completing the loop, we passed by the deserted Castle Hacket and the went across the road to the replacement 18th Castlehacket House, just follow the signs to see the lovely period house. Overall it was well worth the day trip, definitely recommend it.

Well worth a visit. Beautiful walk with the added bonus of well documented archaeological features. Short 5km walk is perfect for a family with young children as there are a couple of benches to rest on or picnic at along the way.

There was six of us four adults and two children, we did the alpaca meet and greet. Ruth and Stuart were so friendly and welcoming. The farm is beautiful, the alpacas are adorable especially Reuben. The children really enjoyed the day out having the opportunity to feed the alpacas was a great experience for them. After our lovely tour on the farm we got treated to some beverages and alpaca biscuits. Most certainly will be visiting again.

Had a great day here with my 5 children and their friend. We really enjoyed it, it was hard to get them to leave. My younger kids loved feeding the animals, the sheep, goats and lama, my older boys loved inflatable city and had great fun on the slide, and got plenty of exercise. Great menu, nuggets, and burgers, had lovely apple pie and coffee. Place is well heated, plenty of recycle bins and great wifi. A great day out, spent all day saturday and really enjoyed ourselves.
