Located in beautiful Herefordshire countryside the Small Breeds Farm is a perfect place to spend the day. Brilliant for adults and families, there is a great selection of wonderful animals. The centre has a fantastic owl collection which is well laid out with informative signs. The rest of the animals are spread out throughout the farm, there are sheep, goats, llamas, pygmy goats, various other birds, donkeys, pigs, rabbits, chipmunks and a lovely water area with some giant tortoises nearby. It's a lovely relaxing place to enjoy the day particularly if the weather is good. You can feed some of the animals and get up close and personal. Many are free to roam around and are happy to interact with you. There is a cafe on site and a picnic area, so you can bring your own food or buy some home-made delights instead. Brilliant Covid measures are in place and there is a one way system through the park. Staff are really welcoming and helpful. Great value for money and lots of fun too.

My Husband and I have been to Docklow Pools twice and it is a fabulous place to go to . The accommodation is very clean , The Scenery is stunning, The walks through the woods are great ,the fishing is great with lots of lakes to fish , the meals are amazing , and most of all Jonathon and all his staff are very friendly, very helpful and nothing is too much trouble for them . It is also a place you can go to in the winter times just to relax and unwind. We love it there so we have booked to go again in later this year and next year .

Brook House Woods

Reviewed By SophieRowe524 - Elland, United Kingdom

We’ve (begrudgingly) just returned home from the most wonderful break at Brook House Woods, and to say we enjoyed it is a huge understatement. My boyfriend and I stayed in the Yurt for three nights, and the feeling of solitude you get from the surroundings, and accommodation itself, made it feel like much more. The accommodation was beautiful, with an incredibly comfy bed and the most gorgeous bedding - it was the best nights sleep we’ve had in ages! The outdoor woodland kitchen is truly beautiful, and the food we ordered ahead (a cake, breakfast, pizza dough and some local beers) was fantastic! We cooked the pizzas in the outdoor pizza oven and the little gas stove was perfect for everything else. The bathroom was quite a surprise! Totally private right next door to the yurt, beautifully clean and much larger than expected. The Yurt also has a private decked area with fire pit which we spent most early mornings and evenings sat out on. If you’re looking for a ‘get away from it all’ weekend, I truly can’t recommend this place enough. We didn’t venture far as the local area was so lovely, and spent our days walking to the local pub, drinking craft cider at the on site cidery ‘Little Pomona’, watching a film in the private outdoor cinema, and taking park in a wood work workshop (also handily on site). We can’t wait to come back!

Hergest Ridge

Reviewed By punxcat - Hereford, United Kingdom

I parked at Crabtree Road, went up to Churchill Road toward Stoney Lane walkway, and then past the church to Rigbourne Lane, up to Yeld Lane and then took off toward the left through a style, kept the dogs on a lead for that bit down a public footpath.. but after that, let them off the whole way.. beautiful walks through the forest up toward the ridge.. eventually walked up to the ridge and followed Offas Dyke all the way back toward Rigbourne again and past the gardens. The route is on ViewRanger. During lockdown there is plenty of parking, most of the gardens are closed so.. probably could get away parking there. I almost don't want to tell others because I didn't see a soul but.. honestly check it out especially if you have pooches.

The Black and White Village Trail

This 40-mile circular trail starts (and ends) in Leominster and passes by buildings going back to Domesday.

Enjoyed a lazy day wandering round the black and white vilages, but only managed 2, Pembridge and Eardisland. So pretty, like Midsomers murders! In Pembridge, sat in the Church green, by the bell tower, having a coffee and enjoying the view. Parked by the river, (free) just outside the village where there were many locals having a picnic and children playing in the lovely river, which was quite safe and had a pebbly beach area, as well as some deeper areas.

Can't believe I have lived so close to this lovely place for years and never visited before. Set well off the main road this valley has a wonderful microclimate. Basically it is a meadow, bordered and interspersed with an amazing variety of trees, shrubs and perennials, with wandering paths mown through it. At present the foxgloves and candelabra primulas have pride of place, with lots of climbing roses and flowering shrubs, but clearly the planting has been carefully planned to have colour and interest all year round. Wear strong shoes, wellies if it has been wet, there are steepish slopes, and don't visit if you like 'tidy' gardens- this garden is a delight of grasses, wildflowers, common and very unusual varieties of trees and shrubs all growing happily together. There are a few ponds and lots of birds, here and there the interest is piqued by metal sculptures on the seats andhanging in the trees. A place to go back to in different seasons I think. The cake was scrumptious as well!
