Top 10 Nature & Parks in Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg (Borough), Germany

November 26, 2021 Harland Bartelt

Berlin is an edgy city, from its fashion to its architecture to its charged political history. The Berlin Wall is a sobering reminder of the hyper-charged postwar atmosphere, and yet the graffiti art that now covers its remnants has become symbolic of social progress. Check out the Weltzeituhr (world time) Clock, topped by a model of the solar system, then turn back time by dining at the historic Zur Letzten Instanz, a 16th century restaurant that was frequented by Napoleon and Beethoven.

Gorlitzer Park

Reviewed By UriusT - Vilnius, Lithuania

Excellent inner city park, very large with tons of space to find your own little spot. All kinds of people come here, from families to people sitting to read a book to immigrants and tourists. Everyone knows what you can buy here, you can smell it burning in certain parts of the park. It's harmless and completely safe. I've seen police sweep the park personally, so despite what racists and bigots might claim, the park is not overrun by anyone. There are no gangs, only impoverished immigrant small businessman trying to outdo each other in friendliness. And they all congregate in a a few small areas. All happy to leave you alone if you decline or ignore them. Live and let live. People ride bikes through here, walk with children, sunbath, take a nap, have picnics. If you don't like freedom, stay away and keep it cool for the rest of us. Bring a beer, bring a book, there are many benches around the edges and plenty of green in the middle.
