Reviewed By Kilmore_12Fitzherbert Castle Motel has very friendly staff, we were offered fruit and lolly’s on check-in at reception which was a nice and unusual touch. The motel is located in a very good location with food, supermarket and CBD all within easy walking distance. The only negative of being so close to the CBD and on a main street with single glazed windows was traffic noise particularly from vehicles with modified noisy exhausts. We stayed in room 2 on the ground floor, which was very clean. The room had very little natural light and a view of two garden sheds and tress. The motel is somewhat unusual in that the upstairs rooms are accessed via an internal hallway open at either end one end of which was right outside our room door which meant noisy guests were easily heard through the exterior door. The windows in the room only opened a little as they were fitted with security stays. If you are a light sleeper the combination of road noise, noise via the exterior door, the dreaded interconnecting room door meaning you can hear people in the room next door and shared plumbing may be an issue. The bed had had a very soft/spongy comfort top. At night time the light of exterior light is a good thing as the room is already fairly dark when it is daylight outside! Whilst the motel provides a dish cloth and tea towel, they don’t provide dish wash liquid. The motel provides a generous 27 GB of data per device per day. The motels carpark is a little on the tight side if you have a large vehicle.

Reviewed By LittlesaggyWe stayed over Christmas and what a fabulous place, spotless, the guy on the reception is lovely, dishwasher, cook top, Samsung washer and dryer, my hubby who is a builder was very impressed with everything. No vaccine pass required as no bar or restaurant so Copthorne missed out on $600, glad too because we loved Quest, few mins walk to the mall and close to supermarkets. Perfect!!

Although it needs a bit of of smartening up (it's a tad tired at the moment), the room was spotlessly clean, beds comfortable, kitchenette has all necessities etc. Despite being off a noisy main street we had a quite a good nights sleep. There's free off street parking and the staff are very helpful and friendly. I would recommend this motel if you need to stay centrally in Palmy.

Plenty of parking available. 6 units upstairs and 6 downstairs so make sure you state what you require. Disability facilities also provided.

Reviewed By Wendy20081958I brought my two little JRT/Foxy dogs with me as elder dog booked into Massey Vets. She had sussepected bladder cancer. The scans were delayed a day so had both my dogs. Yes the were in the room of ‘pet friendly’ motel...yes they up on bed when my alarm went off at 6.30 am, they always do. I had covers on the bed from home their blankets. I had to book for next morning to take my very sick dog back for extensive tests. and was told she could pass away. So I made sure I had lots of cuddles along with lots of my tears. I moved rooms to accomodate as I booked an extra few hours to await phone call from vets to pick her up. I got knock on door and told my dogs left too many hairs on the carpet and some on bedcover. I was told I was an ‘EPIC FAIL’. AND GAD BETTER NOT LET IT HAPPEN IN THERE AS NEW CARPET. My dog, my dear old faithful day is dying...I’m a sniffling wreck and I get told off for hairs in a ‘pet friendly” motel. I’ve stayed in several up and down the country...NEVER been an ‘epic Fail’. I was too upset visibly to say anything. Just said bill me for cleaning cover with hairs...There should be a hand help vacuum in their pet-friendly rooms. I’d have gladly cleaned them up. One of my dogs is a puppy and jumps around (1 yr)...losing hairs... My initial thoughts were kind nice helpful...but I was saddened to be spoken to like that. I packed my things and walked out. I roamed around in rain for 4 hours with my young dog then waited in vet reception for 3 hours...so I think the $131 that I paid for the room for all of half an hour is compensation for washing the already stained bedcover. I was only ever going to stay until lunch-time so could easily re-let my room. I sat on couch for 20 minutes...BTW my dogs are very clean dogs. Apart from losing hairs...traumatic time/traumatic stay/not nice to be spoken to like that when she Cleary could see I had been crying about my dog with cancer that’s spread and won’t live long.

Room stunk if cigarette
Reviewed By Kararaina1Stayed in November. Will never again! Room wreaked of cigarette. We left the doors and windows opened for 5 hours and still stunk, was sickening. Pillow stunk like marijuana. We told the receptionist who said she knew it stunk yet still gave us the room and some air freshener. She confirmed someone had lived there for weeks in that room smoking and the owners still sold us that room. We were offered another room however it was too small to accommodate our visitors for the afternoon. We asked to speak to the owners, we rung 4 times after leaving to speak to them however they refused to contact us back, to hear our concerns, care about our experience or give us a refund. The constant stink cigarette smell was so strong and sickening, could smell it the entire time we were there and all night sleeping. This is disgusting service. Never stay here.

Reviewed By ladyhawknzThis motel is one of our go to stays when in Palmerston as its handy to where we need to be, the park is just across the road and very easy to get around. It is more heading to Massey end of town but is only a 5 min drive to the city centre. We always get the 2 bedroom apartment and it is very spacious and clean. Only downfall is when in the lounge you can hear the traffic whooshing past so when quiet is a bit annoying. Staff are very friendly and helpful. If price is right will be staying again.

Very handy to city centre so you can walk everywhere and very very quiet as down a driveway off the main road. Amazing value for money. I would absolutely recommend this place. I am sure it would be hard to beat.
