The food is wonderful, the pasta is exquisit, and the view from the terrasse is breathtaking, but be sure to make a reservation, because it's always completely booked. The owner is not very friendly (he knows that there always new customers coming), but forget that and enjoy the food!!

We spent Easter weekend in Cantiano to attend La Turba (highly recommend). Our first night we had the good fortune to eat at this restaurant. Roberta, the vivacious young owner, provided wonderful service and the food was delicious! The local vino de la casa was inexpensive and provided a great complement to the meal. We enjoyed our meal so much that we returned on Saturday night and had another great experience. In fact, we dined with main cast from La Turba and a number of local residents. Despite the restaurant being busy; service and food were still outstanding.

Le Fontane

My overall rating for this restaurant hovers between 'poor' and 'average' (I have been there more than once since it is the nearest restaurant to the place where I normally stay in the region). The restaurant is as enormous as the menu. I am always suspicious of the ability of a kitchen to cook a large menu to a high standard, and Le Fontane proves no exception to the rule.It is, of course, very difficult for a large restaurant to engender atmosphere unless it is pretty full or the staff are exceptionally friendly. At Le Fontane the staff are not particularly friendly (although the waiters are less grumpy than the chef/owner) and a loud television seemingly mainly for the entertainment of the staff does not help matters. From the restaurant's Web site you can see that the chef has pretentions to haute cuisine. That a man's reach should be beyond his grasp is a good thing, but one feels resented here when one orders just a pizza or simple pasta. The prices are so-so.Summarily, the food is OK, certainly not bad, but the service is perfunctory and the atmosphere terrible (unless you enjoy a TV blaring out while you eat). Nevertheless, I will go there again if I'm too tired to cook or go further afield.

Wine list it's very very large and at affordable prices. Very good place for real extraordinary food ! Totally suggest for high end dining out.

La Gioconda Ristorante

Being a family of 4 foodies, we read all the great reviews about the place so we absolutely wanted to give it a try. It started out all wrong when the waiter offered a glass of prosecco which my husband refused as he doesn't drink alcohol. When he asked for an other drink he was told the only non alcoholic options were water or regular coke in a Take it or leave it way which spoiled the good mood we were in when arriving. The attitude rieked of If you're not going to drink alcohol you shouldn't have come here. Same goes for the kids tagging along with their folks, no juice, no iced tea no nothing. Inspite of this, and after a few deep breaths we decided to stay. The appetizer we were served was very good, a deep fried zuccini flower, and we ordered 2 tagliatas, and 2 pasta dishes. Both steaks were tasteless and chewy, and 1 of the pasta dishes wasn't great either, the other, with parmezan cheese and mushrooms was good. All in all it was the worst dinner experience in and around Cagli ever since we started coming here 4 or 5 years ago not only because of the alcohol thing at the beginning but also because of the quality of the meat. The fact 1 of the adults doesn't drink alcohol shouldn't be looked down and judged upon, either which reason there could be for it, as strakge as it may seem to some, not everyone drinks ! Only offering water or plain coke as an alternative is bad service.Dear Sir, I begin by saying that our good habit of offering a prosecco goblet to those who sit at our table is born out of courtesy and come to our customers and since it is a completely free gesture it is our discretion to decide that That we want to offer our customers, then if a person does not drink alcohol can quietly refuse without feeling offended !!! I would like to point out that your requests were of a coke zero and we kindly replied that we only hold normal coca cola because we are not a bar or a pizzeria where they have a good market of these drinks but we also have over 600 types Of wine !!!! Our choice not to hold certain types of drinks is the result of food education at the table and we try to educate our clinicians who even though they do not drink wine can still enjoy a good dinner with water and not spoil it with tea lemon!!! Finally I want to point out your little knowledge of good food as the cut that has been served comes from a beef of a Cagli breed of Machigiana breed of absolute goodness and of a very high quality, maybe a bit tougher but from the breadth A cow born to the pasture and different to what you are perhaps accustomed to eating that is born and grows closed in a stable !!! (If you want, I have all the documenteration to show them to certify the origin of our flesh)

The secret to the success of this family-owned business is largely due to chef and owner, Lorenzo Pazzaglia’s enthusiasm for authenticity and his generosity in his approach to food. A 14-page menu offers dozens of varieties of fresh and savory recipes for pastas, pizzas, risottos, and insaladas that inspire and satiate the hungriest of patrons. First-time customers and regulars eat family style, sharing culinary creations bursting with native flavors. The waiters are kind, gracious and friendly (and Lorenzo will be among them – you will find no greater host!). The reasonable prices, lavish servings and incredible flavors ensure return customers. Note: If you wish to secure a table for dinner on a weekend, it is best to call ahead for reservations. The name Poggio translates to “hill.” Located above the city of Cagli, bordered by a row of large shading trees, Il Poggio stands in stark white against the blue sky. The furnishings are simple and casual. The restaurant seems to beckon to customers to come in, have a seat and be among friends. One of the most famous items on the menu is Spaghetti alla Carbonara, a creamy dish of pasta, cheese, eggs, pancetta (bacon), and black pepper. If you don’t experience this specialty of the house plus the Carbonara Tartufo, you are missing out on one of the most incredible flavor sensations of your life.In addition to the savory pastas, Il Poggio is known for departing from traditional Italian cuisine and celebrating the passion that Lorenzo has for spice—exceptionally hot spice. Lorenzo cultivates and imports more than a hundred hot chili peppers from around the world to incorporate into his menu. Some are served fresh, others dried and ground. The most potent are simmered and reduced to a frightening intensity.Scaldingly hot peppers including Naga Viper, Trinidad Scorpion, Bhut Jolokia (ghost pepper) and Smokin Ed’s Carolina Reaper can be added to a special selection of pizzas and pastas to challenge the bravest of diners to a sweltering contest of wills. Customers who successfully attempt to consume the “world’s hottest pizza” at Il Poggio not only gain bragging rights, they also receive a commemorative T-shirt and what is certain to be a raging case of indigestion. Rustic rosemary bread is drizzled with olive oil and sprinkled with rock salt. Mushrooms saute in olive oil. Lush ripe melon is cut into slices and set aside on a tray filled with prosciutto. Delightful aromas of butter, cheese, and truffles fill the air. Just as art is an expression of an artist, cooking reveals the personality of the chef. At Il Poggio, Lorenzo Pazzaglia reveals his passion, imagination, and generous spirit. He creates meals that not only nourish the body, they nourish the soul – one overflowing plate at a time.thanks a lot and a nice read what you wrote for us super likeable photographer you and all your friends -Friends and always a pleasure to have you as a customer but mostly as friends thank Lorenzo and all the staff of poggio
