Kasbah Ramlia

Beautiful small hotel in the middle of the desert

Reviewed By Kathy R

Kasbah Ramlia is a small cozy hotel in the middle of the desert! It is very simple, the decoration is very special, every room has a theme, you can find the typical Morocco tapestry, hand craft and furniture. If you are looking for a place to rest, to be calm where the only sound you hear is the wind from the Desert Dunes. Well... This is your place! Food is very good, the owner and his brother are just fantastic!

Amazing host

I stayed there in September with my friend. The owner was so lovely. It was my birthday and he surprised me and my best friend with a lovely dinner + cake. The owner is kind and genuine. He also runs his own tour from Merzouga to Marrakech with amazing stops in between. The hotel and food was absolutely lovely. 10/10 location. The first night we arrived, he took us on a walk to see the stars. The hospitality and graciousness is beyond belief! I can’t wait to be back!

Good night at the Desert with a family of 7

Great value for a simple but comfortable Desert Camp, amazing dinner and breakfast, very tasty and carefully prepared. You even get to have toilets and shower! Barek and all the staff are very kind even with very little English so we manage to talk in Spanish. We've been talking to him for months and made an effort to try and organize our stay. The dinner tent was being renewed so we had our meals at an improvised one which was ok but a bit too warm. The camp is very quiet during the night and you can watch the stars. Recommend!

The house is situated in Hassilabied, a small but wonderful village in the side of the desert, with great views of it from the beautiful terrace. The food was delicious and there was plenty of it. We couldnever get tired of it! Ahmed, the host, was excellent, he was always taking care of us and made everything so easy. Also he recommended us the best things to do in the desert. We couldn't have had a better stay, we loved the house and the charming hosts. We will sure come back!

Auberge Sahara

Three day Sahara tour

Reviewed By stephanadvisor

This is a once in a lifetime experience! Mohammed, our driver, took good care of our entire group all three days of the trip. On the first day, we visited the small town of Aït Ben Haddou. It is a small indigenous town where many movies and Game of Thrones were shot. We got to know the local people and learned about their history and artwork. From there, we went to the hotel we stayed at for the night. The next day, a local guide showed us his town Tinghir with its agriculture and we were also explained how local carpets are woven. From there, we traveled to the Todgha Gorge. Finally, we moved onto the last leg of our journey to the Sahara! Once arrived, we met our dromedas and our guide who led us through the Erg Chebbi dunes. We stopped to watch the sunset on a large dune. It is extremely beautiful and one of the most wonderful things you will do in your life! After the sun set, we continued on our four-legged friends into the camp. The luxury camp has single tents with beds and showers. We were greeted with tea and afterwards a nice dinner. All of the staff was extremely helpful, friendly, and happy to teach us about their culture. We ended the night stargazing around a campfire while we were singing and dancing to drums played by the nice guys of the camp. In the morning, we watched the sunrise and had breakfast before traveling back by dromeda. In the end, we were safely transported to our next destination: Fez. Please book this trip to do yourself a favor. It is a memorable experience. You get to see and learn so much and get to know extremely friendly people.

Auberge Akabar

Only stay if you're filming a horror movie

Reviewed By Alana A

If you're looking for a location to film Hostel Part 4, then you've found it! My husband and I were headed to Caravanserai desert camp for an overnight and were told to meet here. We arrived at around 2:30PM and the place was a ghost town. The whole place was dark, hot and the front desk was completely barren save a dozen flies buzzing and one sad set of keys hanging on a number on the back wall. We peeked around looking for signs of life only to find a sketchy dude lounging on a dirty mattress in the "luggage storage". He looked at me, looked away and went back to watching videos on his phone. Nervoucly, my husband, our guide and I turned around and walked out. Not knowing what to do, we headed down the road to grab lunch (though I was no longer hungry). After eating and confirming we had the correct meeting point, we returned to Akabar. At this point, the other travelers had arrived and were already on the camels. We were shuttled to a room to change (thank goodness we didn't need to use the disgusting lobby bathrooms). The room was cavernous but scary still - dead bugs of all sorts littered the floor and beds and the bathroom toilet was clogged. A sad broken handheld shower hung on a rail near a drain in the center of the floor. I would have slept in the car or the desert to ever staying in that room. We quickly changed and headed out. We were relieved to hear our bags wouldn't be left at Akabar and that we'd be able to shower at the camp. All in all, you couldn't pay me to stay here. On the off chance all other hotels are sold out, sleep in your car. Caravanserai Luxury Desert Camps, if you're reading this, please stop sending your guests here. It's terrifying and a horrible way to start a desert excursion. If you continue to, at least give everyone heads up that it's strictly a meeting point.

Secret Du Sahara

Cool, chilled and away from everyone

Reviewed By Hairywangoesglobal

On the edge of the beginning of merzougas red dunes, on the north eastern edge of Hassilabied. Peaceful and serene at all hours of the day. Owner is relaxed guy, along with the others that work there. The mud straw huts they have are comfortable enough, budget style but an interesting experience nonetheless. WiFi works, however range is limited, so best to stay in the common area for usage. Dinner can be made for you, otherwise one of the guys will take you to the local shop to buy your own food (5 min walk). Hot showers work well. A good place to sit around and do nothing for a couple of days, or great to use a Base for camel treks, dune riding and motorcycle trails. Recommended for budget travellers or campers.

The place to stay when in Merzouga

Reviewed By PelikanArtist

We stayed in this welcoming Kasbah one night before we set off for the desert. The owner and his family made us feel at home immediately. He showed us our room, which was clean and spacious! He sat down with us in the common area and offered us tea. We asked if we could get some dinner in an hour or so as we had travelled over 12 hours on the bus. Within an hour we got a super tasty tajine and some fruits. We slept very well as the area is quiet and when we woke up and opened the window we saw the first dunes of Sahara. We had breakfast outside enjoying the sun and good food. If you are in Merzouga you cannot go wrong with this place! Highly recommended. Thank you for everything!

Absolutely Filthy!

Reviewed By ApresNewYork

We stayed here one night in April and it was one night too much. The room was absolutely filthy! It was clearly not cleaned as there were water spots all over the mirror and sink. There were several strands of hair on the sheets - I really don't think they even changed it from the last guest. And what grossed my husband out the most is that the toilet rim was full of black and brown grime. It must have been months since they last cleaned the toilet! Disgusting! The room was also very basic with no desk or shelves or hooks to put anything. Just two little nightstands. We seriously could not wait to get out of here. On the plus side, I guess at least we didn't see any bugs?
