A must for wildlife lovers

Stayed at this lodge for just 2 nights and will miss the kindness and hospitality of the team. Every single worker always greeted me a smile and “welcome” at every encounter. The gardens are spectacular and the location is in the heart of the park. As soon as we left the gate, we saw lions, elephants, monitor lizards, vervet monkeys, zebra…the list goes on. There’s plenty of food options, both western and local. Plenty of open air seating and lounging areas. The highlight are rooms 211- 214 which are directly off the watering hole, where elephant herds gathered nightly and we could safely and peacefully observe from our private deck! But again, it was the graciousness of the staff that warmed my heart!

Serenity on the beach

Reviewed By CATHERINE W

I just returned from a four night stay at Amanda Bay and I would give more stars if I could! The cottages were lovely and so unique….old world furnishings in elegant grass ”hut”. Each dwelling had both outside and covered private porches with glorious views. All the staff was so friendly and professional. Every meal was exceptional. We enjoyed a vast array of fresh fish and vegetables. Myezi, the manager had a lovely serenity about her that made out trip truly lovely. She arranged a trip to Lamu with a guide and a drive through Amanda island’s 10th century ruins ending with sundowners watching the sunset over the top of an acacia forest… she even welcomed us back when we had a small flight reservation snafoo!! This was the most peaceful, lovely trip I have had in a long time!

African Dream Cottages

New, nice cottage with pool, bar and restaurant. Just a few min footsteps to the white sandy beach.

Wonderful dream hotel, great team of staff and the owner is lovely and very caring, I can't wait to get back

Reviewed By Willemvrh

An excellent, unique, beautiful, peaceful, and comfortable hotel and location to stay, with all the facilities one needs at the coast of Kenya. The cottages are true "dream" cottages where one can immediately see that attention is given to detail and getting to know the owner and manager of African Dream Cottages one can see where this eye for detail comes from. The cottages are furnished with all the necessary facilities to feel completely free, including the possibility to cater for oneself. The restaurant and the service are so superb that when having eaten from the restaurant one would hardly wish to cater for oneself or even go out for a meal. The staff is very friendly and flexible doing their best to make the guests feel like queens and kings. While the swimming pool is wonderful for swimming laps or just to puddle in, the nicest beach of Kenya and the Indian ocean are at a few minutes walking distance from the location as well as the shopping center with all the shops one can wish for. I recommend African Dream Cottages as one of the best places to stay at beautiful Diani beach, in Kenya, where one gets high value worth for one’s money. Thank you so much for my wonderful stay, Bianca and the team, I look forward to coming back soon.

Perfect Place to Unwind and Reconnect with Myself

Reviewed By mtruth70

My friend and I went to Malindi together with my three dogs. While he stayed in a banda, I camped on the beach from 16.01.2022 to 21.01.2022. I was exhausted from a very hectic 2021. I needed a place where I could simply rest. I had no agenda in mind on how to spend my days by the Indian Ocean. I got what I came for and more from Barefoot Beach Camp. Selma and Eddie were the perfect hosts. They chatted with us sometimes but also gave us the space to breathe and perfect the art of doing nothing. I loved that we had the beach mostly to ourselves. I didn't run into guys wanting to chat me up. And Eddie cooked scrumptious meals every night for us! The portions were quite generous, too. I left the Camp refreshed and re-energised, and with a deep desire to visit it again in the future.

Cozy and friendly family hotel where the true care and love if felt everywhere

Me and my friend stayed for several days in this House. It is small but very cozy House who belongs to one very friendly Italien family. The foreigner will find all conveniences there. The lobby of the House is in open space and furnished in Swahili style. But the real treasure is the location of this House, which is about 10 minutes by walk from the magnificent and very wide beach which is lightly populated. This place is for those who is searching for solitude, peace and harmony. I will recommend this hotel to my friends. Anfisa

Wauw! This place is amazing :). I went there by myself to chill and relax and it was perfect. It's a small oasis. The staff is amazing, the food is great, and the swimming pool is really nice! The room I had was really tidy and spacious. It's not located at the beach but it's only a short drive there if you have a car, and if you don't, like me, the owners are happy to help you arrange a tuktuk or taxi. That is another great thing, Kylie and Juri are super friendly and helpful, and also just the loveliest people. I came by train and they arranged a pick-up/drop-off for me. I would highly recommend this place and would love to come back, hopefully soon :).

Voi Safari Lodge

Voi Safari Lodge is a strategically situated safari lodge, in one of the world’s largest game parks – the Tsavo National Park – Voi Safari Lodge stands high above the town of Voi overlooking a vast expanse of the African bush. It is 160km from Mombasa city. You can simply watch the herds of wild animals roam beneath you or you can get closer by a network of access roads reaching into many corners of this 11,666 square kilometre park. From the Lodge, you can look out onto the three water holes and see the ever-changing panorama of Africa unfold right before your eyes and at the same time enjoy the luxury of waiters’ service. There is a special ‘HIDE’ for the camera enthusiasts affording close-up and candid pictures of the wild animals which do not suspect any human presence. This is an ideal spot from which to go out in search of the ‘BIG FIVE’ – Elephant, Lion, Buffalo, Leopard and Rhino. From Voi you have speedy and easy access to either the Tsavo East or Tsavo West portions of this park.

The view is from another world, amazing Landscapes and the waterhole is always busy with wildlife

Stayed again at Voi Safari Lodge, I love the spot for it’s amazing views, the wildlife at the waterhole and the pole shove the waterhole… we’re in the world do you have it??? As the lodge was build in 70‘s and it has a very open style, it is very light to hear your neighbor… if you need more privacy, don’t bother to come here. As there were very few guests, they offered us a la card food, which was served on the table. I think this is a better option to serve food then with a buffet.

A no-go

Reviewed By Elodie677

Our experience staying at Sagala lodge in Dec 2021 was terrible. We're usually easy going but the series of broken toilets, faulty electric showers bringing electrical shocks, barking dogs, missing curtains was a bit too much. Three of our group members had bad food poisoning and others upset stomachs. We fed back to the manager who dismissed our claims and got very aggressive. This bad service may be due to the ongoing court case but is still not acceptable.

Lower priced lodge with camp flair

Reviewed By Nonsense73

Impala Lodge is outside Tsavo East National Park and therefore cheaper than the lodges in the park. They have rooms or tents, we chose the tent. In the tent there were two beds, one about 140cm and the other about 90cm wide. It even has a small TV, a kettle and a small fridge (I found that super). The shower has hot water, it has several sockets for electricity. The tent has an awning, where you can be protected from mosquitoes outside. The cleanliness was good, the food was okay, drinks and food a little too expensive for my taste (since you are outside the park and in the local restaurants get away cheaper). The staff is very friendly and helpful, we had three good days there.
