According to their website they were open so we drove down only to find they are closed for over a month! Had a fantastic meal elsewhere!

We visited this restaurant from Switzerland with my family including my small grand daughter. In a dark winter night it was not easy to find this place located outside Italian town of Malles. The food was fantastic and the service was friendly and professional. They were also very kind to the children. The chef here can obviously cook very well traditional and modern Italian specialties as well as South Tyrolean traditional food. I started with "Speckknödelsuppe" which was excellent, although I needed to wait for at least 15 minutes because the Knödel had to be prepared fresh. The main was the house made Tagliatelle in vegetables and veal sugo, which was also very good. We had a bottle of excellent local red wine âLagrein Riserva Taber St. Magdalena Cantinaâ. We will definitely come to this restaurant again even though it takes 30 minutes by car from Switzerland.

We crossed over into Italy today and my son and I wanted a good Italian meal. I had gone to Rome for a week in the past and was almost disappointed every day as I kept falling into tourist traps that served overpriced crap, so I was hoping for something more satisfying this time, and I wasnât let down by Ristorante Ortler. I can honestly say that everything we ate was delicious and very reasonably priced. Because my son asked for a spicy pizza, they went out of their way to cut up fresh chili and baked it on his pizza - he was in love with his pizza and said he loved Italy because of it! I tried a strawberry tiramisu for desert and found it delicious. Great food, nice staff who speak several languages, and reasonable prices!

Nice setting in the first floor of a traditional house. Food are authentic from the region and prepared according to the family's tradition. The service is as expected in a German speaking place!

Food was excellent. Easy, relaxed environment managed by a husband - wife team. We would return without hesitation next time we are in the area.

Tried this restaurant last night. We were able to sit inside with our little dog. I decided to try the mushroom pizza, which arrived in about 8 minutes, almost too quickly. My husband ordered the cannederli but since you have to wait for 20 mins he ordered a portion of chips. Unfortunately they arrived when I'd almost finished my pizza and then 2 mins later his main dish arrived. Yes, there were some hitches with the service but our waitress was very friendly and apologetic and in any case the cannederli were exquisite. Definitely would recommend this mouthwatering dish to anyone who comes here. The menu offers a lot of pizzas but also many other typical delicacies. The house white wine was also very good.

A week's trip to Italy and I would normally be after traditional Italian cuisine and wine every night. However, this was in the German speaking Südtirol region very close to the Swiss and Austrian border. I researched the place in advance from a website devoted to beer and this place did well. I turned up about 19:30 and it wasn't too busy. A huge selection of beers served in porcelain tankards was a good plus. The menu was, unsurprising, very dominated by hearty meat dishes. However with the help of the waiter, we selected a vegetarian soup (cream of polenta soup) and a roasted goat's cheese dish which was either a starter or double sized portion as a main. That and a very tasty appetiser and some lovely smoky tasting rye and crisp breads made this a really enjoyable meal. With two beers and the food, the bill came to just â¬27 making it one of the best meals in a long while.

The country inn as it used to be: Lots of different rooms, filled every weekend-day to capacity for lunch and dinner. Honest, straight-forward country cuisine. Huge portions at very reasonable prices: One almost feels back in times long gone by, when this hotel was a stop for the stage-coaches, before negotiating the Alpine passes.
