A great opportunity to have a Michelin-star food in an informal, cool atmosphere. The concept of 5 dishes course where each dish is a surprise from the chef makes the experience unique. Each dish is accompanied with detailed explanation from waiters both about the dish and the "right" way to eat it. My highlight were the smoked eel and the lamb chop which were fantastic - but also other dishes were unusually delicious and beautifully served. However, the whole dinner took well over 3 hours. Not sure if this is chef's intention or slow service in a busy day (the place was quite full) - I would happily give it "excellent" if it would take less time.

HIP Alexandrium is a nice restaurant situatied underneath the bridge between the "satelliet" and main building. It offers good dishes for lunch. Dishes are not spectacular or very different compared to other lunch offering restaurants. For (informal)business lunches the restaurant is nice.

We went on a Saturday evening making a booking at very short notice. Booking is needed on many nights. We failed to get in on our previous 2 attempts. The staff are very welcoming. We arrived a little early for our table and were seated at the bar with a drink on the house while we waited for our table to clear. The food was excellent with one of the best burgers I have had anywhere. The entrecote was also beautifully cooked. The grand dessert which we shared was magnificent with seven different mini desserts.Excellent review. Very happy with.Thank you.

We always make a beeline for La Place, which V&D stores inevitably feature, often with outdoor seating protected from the wind. This trip so far we have been to Rotterdam, Dordrecht, and Gouda. All have been very good with superb deli style food. The steak and frites in Gouda was not just memorable for the fact that the cook forgot to prepare it but that when it eventually arrived was very good indeed. Why oh why cannot UK stores deliver the quality and range of food at the reasonable price.

Great wines & food, excellent service. We were a large party of 25, and serving so many the same menu simultanously is always challenging for a gourmet kitchen, but the Fitzgerald team pulled that off with onøy a few small glitches; a piece of meat not as tender as you could expect, and some vegetables that should have been replaced. However, that is excuceable with such a large group, and I would love to come back with a small party to really enjoy other options on the menu. Dear Tom, thank you for your kind review. 2 pm sit down. Start with rum punch and gnome cocktail served in shaped copper tumblers. Had Chinese duck rolls, beef sliders and chips - all yummy. Eclectic decoration, including the stuffed peacock, view of the Harbour and tables outside for a sunny day. Defiantly worth a visit.

We ordered the deer and the gnocci, which both turned out to be tasty choices. Good selection of deserts; if you already had enough but still want to join in for the deserts there is a small "join in icecream" of two instead of four scoops of ice of your choice.

Nice ambiance and surprisingly good food in this restaurant that one would never find by coincidence. The chefâs 4 course surprise menu was simply excellent. Creative, nicely presented and very tasted. We liked the ceviche and loved the âbavetteâ. Very good housewines (sauvignon blanc and negroamaro cabernet). Can not wait to go back

If you're looking for a nice, relatively quiet place to have a decent meal, look no further. It's a bit out of the way from the city, but in my opinion definitely worth making the detour to the old center of Nieuwerkerk a/d IJssel. The menu consists of tapas, with such classics as patatas bravas and albondigas, but also own creations. The mushrooms filled with cheese are my favorite item from the menu; give them a try!They also serve some nice wines, both Spanish and from other countries. Tuesdays thru Thursdays, you can make use of an "all you can eat" arrangement; haven't tried that, but either way the restaurant is budget friendly.Well worth a visit, according to this frequent visitor!
