Great Hotel in Waingapu!
Reviewed By Jon SThe Padadita is a great hotel. There is no beach but the infinity pool is amazing and the whole pool area is a perfect place to relax. It's well designed to accomodate kids and the rooms are clean and comfortable. The WiFi, AC and hot water work great too! The food is tasty and the portions are both reasonably priced and large! We loved it and I was surprised to find such a nice and reasonably priced hotel on Sumba. It's a perfect place to take day trips around East Sumba from.

Reviewed By pdmancsWe stayed overnight and were the only guests in these pandemic times, but the staff were quite literally falling over themselves to take care of us and make us feel welcome. We had three meals in the restaurant (lunch, dinner and breakfast). All excellent. Our room was very rustic. One or two things didn’t maybe work so well (eg the concrete floor meant it was impossible to keep your feet clean) but overall it was great. This a very well run, cute place with so many little touches and details. The beach setting is sublime. Really beautiful. Highly recommended if you’re in the area or even visiting Waingapu. It’s only a 45 min drive.

Reviewed By sylvimutiaraReally love this Resort. The location is perfect. About 20 minutes from Airport. Not in the middle of town. Cen feel the breeze from the room. I can see the river and hill from my balcony. The view from the restaurant was very beautiful. The breakfast was great, not to many choices but the taste is very delicious. Trekking to the hill in front of the Resort is very reccommended. It was around 2 hours in the morning. Trekking with 2 Dogs , Pak Samuel & Medi (trekking guide from Resort) and with Pak Freddy (owner of this Resort). Pak Freddy (owner) is very friendly and humble. I will be back to this Resort with my family for sure. And next time I will try the canoe. Thank.you Pak Freddy and Batman. Love the Resort so much.

Reviewed By rockdoc21Clean room, good air conditioner (essential in Waingapu). Central in the city. Some of the rooms can be quite noisy, but most are good. This is one of the better hotels in Waingapu. I've stayed here on three trips so far and likely will again

Sumba Adventure Resort is a Family friendly Adventure resort located in the utmost South Eastern region of Sumba. The Road is good and is a 2 hour scenic drive from Waingapu. Accommodation: We have the Bamboo beach house on the beach, sea view and sea breeze, double bed as well as 1 single, own bathroom. A-Frame is great for a couple or two singles. Also Seaview and own Bathroom. Camping Facility. We Offer Boat Fishing, Speardiving, Surfing, Kite Surfing, Banana Boat and ATV rental as well as scooters.
The Wild East
Reviewed By Jon SWhen Mark met us and took us to our room he said "welcome to the Wild East" While trying to explain why he was having generator problems. But frankly between the challenges of running a resort in eastern Indonesia and the pandemic's devestation of tourism I was quite impressed with how well things were working. We had a great time relaxing in the bungalows at Sumba Adventure resort, paddle boarding and exploring the massive stretch of beach out front with no one to share it with. The beach was also perfect for my three year old to play in and we spent as much time as we could in the water. They included simple tasty meals and provided great service for the price. In fact when we got to "crowded" west Sumba we were all. Missing the quiet peace of playing at our little slice of paradise. If you are looking for an off the beaten path place to relax and watch the slow life Sumba Adventure resort is perfect!

Nice common areas, neglected bedroom

Positives: - Great location close to the centre. - Lovely courtyard style garden setting with pool. - Nice communal lounge/dining area. - WiFi good. - Off road parking. Negatives: - The hotel staff had no record of our booking and payment when we arrived. The owner had told them they had no new arrivals that day. - Our room was pretty poor, and certainly not to the same standard as the rest of hotel. It’s like it belonged to a different place altogether: peeling wallpaper, TV/cable unplugged and not connected, aircon stuck on one temperature, no hangers in wardrobe, door handles missing, only one bedside table, no kettle/hot drinks or hairdryer (all listed as standard), awful smell from bathroom drain, mould on bathroom walls, heavily stained tiles, bathroom not very clean, bathroom fan filthy dirty. - Other reviews talk about a great breakfast being served. We had watermelon, and a basic watery soup with boiled rice. Absolutely fine, but not quite the feast we expected. Maybe it was because they weren’t expecting guests! The hotel could be great, but they have neglected the rooms. Maybe they haven’t made much money and have neglected to maintain the bedrooms. Overall I would say that unfortunately, at over 500k for the night, it represented poor value.

Reviewed By kresnapThe hotel looks good from the outside but once you're in the room, things would quickly turn upside down. Got a room which smelt so damp and stale we had to keep the door and windows open for 30 minutes. Then we found out (after we closed the door and windows) that the AC didn't work and only blew air. We were then moved to another room with a better AC, but had possibly the worst hotel bathroom I have seen in my life (and I used to stay at hostels). The mirror, the shower head, and all the taps were rusty, wash basin tiles were broken, and the pipe wasn't even connected to the sewage system. Everything just poured onto the floor. Yuck! Adding to the above, the plug point wasn't secured to the wall and the AC system leaked onto the chair outside. Shocking would be an understatement. If anything good can be said about this hotel, the owner seemed nice (but obviously didn't care enough about their guests' wellbeing) and the breakfast spread would be suitable for an early lunch. Needless to say, I would never return and would strongly discourage anyone from staying here.
