Gaia was such a beautiful stay. Quiet, in the middle of the mountains. Beautiful rooms, location and mountain surroundings. All the staff were very accommodating and welcoming. I also loved their ethics, growing all their produce on the property and being conscious of the environment. Will definitely stay again next time I am in Bali!

Beautiful and well located resort

Reviewed By Papman

We originally booked for 3 nights but stayed 6. We didn’t want to leave. Very well presented and maintained property. Right on the water’s edge with lush well maintained gardens surrounded by a coconut plantation. Restaurant had a limited menu but it’s still in the reopening phase after lockdowns. Food was absolutely delicious and very well presented. The chefs were so nice and approachable and I was able to ask for fresh seafood the day before so they could buy at the market the next night. ALL the staff were lovely, friendly and attended to any request promptly and with a smile. Special mention to Dewa and Pajar who went out of their way to make sure we had a good time. The manager Komang and head chef of the Kirana chain both spoke to us at length about feedback and suggestions and I saw some changes immediately. We even got to sample some of the new menu items and big thumbs up. If you want to relax and just lounge around away from the hawkers and noise of south Bali then this is the place. We would come back for sure.

Fabulous beach front bungalows set amongst expansive gardens, lawns and towering palms. So beautiful! The crystal clear infinity pool appears to flow into the ocean, it’s also generous, and has lovely curving lines. Loved the black beach! The staff were wonderful. The food was very good. We were very happy here. Top notch resort.

Amazing family villa

Reviewed By Raphoslo

We spent a week at Bondalem Bliss and we did not want to leave!! Huge garden, big super comfy rooms, amazing food (cooked by the staff and we are picky), super nice pool, and of course a nice swimmable beach right next to the garden (you open the gate, and here you are). Super quiet (don't expect any kind of outside animation), and we had an amazing quality family time there. We highly recommend the place and will be back very soon. One, if not, the best villa where we have been in Bali!!

The Wantilan in Tejakula

THE WANTILAN in de desa TEJAKULA is one of the greatest holiday retreats at the northern coast of Bali, 25 km east of Singaraja, 50 m from the Bali-sea. The villa is situated in a beautiful tropical garden (3000 m2) with a private swimmingpool (5 x 11 m), in the middle of coconut- and fruittrees. The Wantilan is measuring 300 m2 and suitable for 4 - 6 guests. There are two floors. GROUND FLOOR: big open living/kitchen area (100 m2) with an attached inner garden/jacuzzi (50 m2), garden-room/bedroom with en-suite half open bathroom (55 m2). FIRST FLOOR: large open master-bedroom with en-suite bathroom (55 m2). King size beds and ceiling fans. The friendly staff of four is taking care for all your needs, is maintaining the pool and the Jacuzzi and is cooking for you. Our excellent lady-cook Ibu Ratna is doing so. If you want, cleaning/laundry-lady Ibu Komang is taking care for your laundry. The Wantilan is offering whatever you want: FOR SUNLOVERS: for people who need a good rest, enjoy the beautiful garden and the Indonesian kitchen, your staff will guarantee your rest and privacy and can also organize a perfect Balinese massage for you. FOR WALKERS: take a walk at the beachside, our neighbors are fishermen. Buy a tuna early in the morning, right from the small boat (jukung) and enjoy this fish the same evening, fish cannot be more fresh. Or take a twenty-minutes-morning walk to the local market and don't forget your camera. Or visit the historical public bath place in the center of the village, in former times built for washing horses. Or put on your flippers and snorkel to explore the coral in the Bali Sea, right in front of the door. FOR BALI-TRAVELLERS: go for a trip to Ubud, Bedugul, the waterfalls on Bali or the Besakih temple, an English speaking driver will be your guide. Visit a wonderful museum on Bali (NEKA. BLANCO, ARMA) and don't forget a visit to the central market in UBUD. NORTH BALI The village TEJAKULA is one of the oldest settlements in the North of Bali. The surroudings are well known by photographers, due to the rather strong light intensity, especially at dawn and dusk. The name "Tejakula"" comes from this phenomena: "teja = light/glow", "kula" = us/village, so "the-village-with-the-beautiful-light". Tejakula is a quiet place, far from the tourist-business in the south. The special charm of the place draws firstly from the Balinese culture and tradition, specially a tradition in Dance and Music. Almost every week there is a performance somewhere in or around the village where guests are always very welcome. Activities: Bali is a ceremony-island, ask the staff what's on during your stay. Restaurants: there is a diversity of restaurants around Sembirenteng and Lovina (Italian, Indonesian, Chinese, Indian). Transport: during your stay you can arrange your own transport, for day-trips you can hire a car with a driver, ask your staff. Public transport to Singaraja by a small mini-bus (bemo), avaiable until 17:00, walk along the road and just wave your hand.

Stunning house. Amazing staff. Perfect vacation.

Reviewed By GoPlaces459502

Just home from staying nearly a month at the Wantilan with my family of four. During the course of our stay we had additional family members join us sporadically. The house, cottage and grounds are perfectly situated enabling us all to have our own space and time to ourselves. Consistent with other reviews the pool, house and grounds were amazing and well tended by the staff who were sweet and attentive but also un-obtrusive. We chose to cook most of our own meals but Made was always insistent to wash up and organize the kitchen afterwards. Of course we requested a few special meals to be prepared for us which were delightful. Fresh produce and fish are 20 minutes walk from the house - always a worthwhile if early morning adventure - plus, the ladies in the market are cheeky but delightful. Sunrise in Tejakula on the beach is not to be missed. Because Tejakula has been our “go to“In Bali for rest and relaxation away from our very busy lives we found the Wantilan to be the perfect house with staff to match. We have been to other rental properties in Tejakula but will now only return to the Wantilan. Most of all, house managers Dewi and Luci are sweet, professional and anticipated and delivered on all of our needs. Also house staff Made, Eilo and Wayan were happy to assist with errands or special requests which were few given that we came mostly to sit still and enjoy the natural beauty and mellow Tejakula culture. Fresh towels and bedding each day along with fresh cut flowers which appeared mysteriously... Driver Putu also was very professional and helped to fill in the gaps when we were uncertain how to’s spend an afternoon exploring. He in fact led us to some great destinations for purchasing original artwork and to have amazing meals on the north side of Bali not typically known for these adventures. And an amazing waterfall. Dewi and Luci also a arranged for my family to attend special ceremonies at the local temple in Tejakula town where they both participate as temple leaders and teachers. Because there are artists in my family we inquired about the special carving we see in Tajakula and Luci promptly arranged for a private lesson for our family to learn this ancient craft right at the Villa. Lucy in fact, asked her father who is a carving master to visit for the day where we all took a lesson and brought treasures home. Flying home with concrete souvenirs (our art) is not very logical but the love and memories associated with this special place and people made the decision a no brainer. If you plan to visit Tejakula staying at the Wantilan should equally be a no brainer. We felt embraced by the house and more importantly by Dewi and Lucy and the amazing staff at the Wantilan.
