Top 10 hotels in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico

August 5, 2022 Hana Mouser

High in the cool hills, this colonial gem of cobblestone streets and picturesque churches inspires artists with its color, character and light. Baroque, neoclassical and neogothic mix in the city's buildings, notably at the pink stone 18th-century church on the Plaza Principal. Founded in 1542, the city is a mix of Hispanic and Mesoamerican influences.

Casa de Sierra Nevada, A Belmond Hotel, San Miguel de Allende

A heritage hotel in the Mexican heartlands, Casa de Sierra Nevada, a Belmond Hotel evokes the charm of a bygone era. San Miguel is an adventure for the senses. Yet at the very center of this vibrant city lies a safe haven that’s at once connected to the locale and is its own private sanctuary. Swing open our ancient, wooden front doors and the fiesta outside gives way to a siesta-like calm. Water fountains and blooming flowerpots dot the cluster of heritage mansions that make up the hotel. A large pool, fringed with lush foliage and plants, provides the perfect place to cool off. 17th- and 18th-century buildings reveal inner courtyards, terraces and gardens. Here, history is woven into every stucco wall, tiled bath and curved ceiling, all balanced with modern luxuries.

Gorgeous View, Fabulous Service, Warm Welcome

Every once in a while, we stumble on a perfect hotel. We stayed in the penthouse suite just below the spectacular view of the city. The manager was on top of everything and Enrique, his right hand man was a joy. They will accommodate any request happily. The vibe at the pool was zen and calm and the service was perfect.

This is a really charming and intimate property. In making the reservations, the staff was responsive and detailed. They assisted us with transportation needs as well. The courtyard is a perfect place for breakfast. There is a nice rooftop terrace for evening cocktails. The rooms were spacious and had both independent heat and cooling options. From the front door it is a quick 10 minute walk into the center of town. We certainly will choose this location again on our next visit.

Absolutely spectacular service by the concierge loved every part of my stay - the rooftop bar and the personalized service there was the highlight. There is scope for improvement at the 1826 restaurant as it was a bit slow. The spa experience was sublime. Will recommend Rosewood to everyone I meet.

Casa Schuck Boutique Hotel

Casa Schuck boutique hotel, the first of it's kind in San Miguel de Allende dating back to 1978. We are an easy 3 blocks walk to the Main Square and Jardin as well as the famous Parrochia cathedral. You are minutes away from excellent shopping, restaurants, cafes, galleries and so much more. From the moment you walk threw the doors you are greeted with dazzling color and historic charm! The rooms are individually unique with their own special flare. Love the fireplaces and beautiful tile work. The courtyards are breathtaking- lush, textural and inviting. Another favorite place for an outstanding view is the roof top deck-perfect for morning yoga and sunsets with vine. Best of all are the owners. I thankfully had the opportunity to learn of the history of the hotel, their story and even share their tequila! Amazing hosts with beautiful personalities! What really stands out are the owners and employees. What also stands out are the employees. They are so friendly and bend over backwards to be helpful. They created the more delicious personalized breakfasts each morning ... a meal to be savored and enjoyed in the vibrant dining room or in the garden courtyard. This special bed and breakfast offers the chance to live like a king or queen, right in the middle of town and enjoy the art world culture. You may not want to leave the house much though, as the rooftop deck may beckon,or you might find a cozy spot to relax in the shaded landscaped courtyard or the pool. Since Tripadvisor's beginnings, it's been always in the top 20 places to stay in town on Tripadvisor since it's beginnings. Here you will enjoy the quintessential, traditional Spanish Colonial architecture and comfortable bedrooms, most with outdoor living areas and terraces. Our personal attention along with the atmosphere makes this spot a favorite choice in San Miguel de Allende.

Truly a slice of heaven

Feeling at home when traveling is something that doesn't happen all the time. Honestly, it is not something we expect when going away. However, Casa Angelitos is a dream of a place where we felt at home from the moment we walked in. The entry welcomes you to a range of possibilities. If you go down the beautiful stairs, you can’t not be surprised with the beautiful rooms and spaces that suddenly appear. Gorgeous plants, peaceful rest areas and pretty fountains. If you enter the house to your left, you enter what can only be described as a refugee for the soul. There are so many details throughout every room, that you can’t help but to make beautiful stories of how they became to be. From lovely details, to beautiful pictures (my favorite is a lovely picture of Yoko and John hidden in the bar). Once we got into our room, we were surprised by the amplitude if the room and the beautiful craftsmanship of the bathroom and the brick ceiling dome. The entire crew were incredibly kind and attentive and the food was super healthy and delicious. All this being said, what makes Casa Angelitos exceptional is their owners and gracious hosts, Rosana and Roger. I don't think I’ve ever met such sweet, authentic and peaceful people. I am eternally grateful for having crossed paths with them and Casa Angelitos.

I wouldn’t want stay anywhere else

This is my second time here & I requested my same room that I stayed in last time. You would have NO IDEA what lies inside these walls until you enter & you’ll be in awe. It’s beautiful! The owner travels throughout Oaxaca and decorates the hacienda with beautiful works of art. The staff is EXTREMELY professional, and attentive. The property is well maintained. The rooms are clean. The original included breakfast is amazing! We were served fresh fruit, sweet breads, coffee, along with our choice of meal. The hotel has a terrace where it’s just really nice to enjoy coffee, a meal, or a drink. It has a great view of the town. I love how when we checked in, they opened up these drawers FILLED with amazing artisan handmade soaps with a large variety of scents and you can choose 4 for your room. If there is a better place here, I couldn’t imagine how much better it could get.
