Overall experience was good.

The meals were delicious and good variety. The pastries especially cakes could use some training for the pastry chefs. the cakes i tried were dry and too sweet. Consider having a package for dinner that is inclusive of beverages and atleast water. The hotel facilities are spacious with lots of activities for both adults and children to enjoy. we enjoyed the steam bath and whirl pool. The pool is clean and spacious. The plage is beautiful and well furnished for relaxation and comfort. The staff were helpful and kind however we noticed many of them were new and did not quite know the services well. The rooms are fresh, spacious, i enjoyed having an extra baby bed which is not common in other hotels around Saly. i would like to see white towels in the bathroom. The couch fabric in the rooms was filthy, the choice of color i believe is strategic. bright colors inspire client confident on cleanliness. i recommend having a small coffee machine in the room. Have some drinks in the fridge and charge client if they consume. 1 bottle of water is not enough for a room with 2 adults. Total disregard to client privacy, we had a technician come in to fix our toilet immediately after we got into the room after waiting for one hour to be allocates a room. There is need for training of staff, some of them were trainees and had no proper information every time we made enquiries they would go and consult. The booking management system needs to be integrated with other services to avoid unnecessary delays during check in and access to services. We had unpleasant booking hiccups despite having booked online and provided all information. There is need for proper communication to the client once visa cvs data is captured the booking not only valid but should be fully executed upon arrival to avoid unnecessary delays. we had to wait for one hour at the reception for verification and i believe the rooms were not ready by 16h00. a little streamlining here can help with better client experience. Generally we had a pleasant stay and we did enjoy ourselves. We look forward to returning again in the near future.

It's a nice place for rest and entertainment.

Great setting, average hotel

Reviewed By theonenathe

We stayed at the hotel for 9 nights with our two young children and some friends who also had their kids with them. We found it a real mix - the setting was really beautiful - gorgeous beach, lovely pool and nice looking huts to stay in, but there were lots of annoying problems throughout the holiday. Firstly, the food looked pretty decent - but it tasted fairly average unfortunately. As the hotel is all inclusive, this left us feeling like we were a bit stuck for dinner (although we ended up going to another hotel to eat a couple of times for a bit of variation). The puddings in particular weren't great - they looked awesome, but often just didn't taste of very much. Secondly, dinner is from 8-10pm. Maybe this is fine for many guests from the Mediterranean, but it was really late for our kids (who are normally in bed by 8) and there was no flexibility offered and no way of ordering dinner early from the restaurant or something. That left us with ratty kids getting tired and staying up late, or going to bed hungry. Another annoyance was the very loud music being pumped out by the pool. The clientele when we were there were hardly 18-30 party animals - almost everyone either had kids or were in the older age bracket, so it didn't seem to fit and ruined the general feeling of peace on the beach and down by the sea. The loud music continued into the night with raucous drum performances every few nights and loud music and singing on others. That started at 10pm and went on for a couple of hours most nights, keeping us and the kids up even later. For families I would recommend asking to stay further away from the restaurant so this would be less of an issue. Also, although there weren't many mosquitoes visibly around, even in the evenings, we got bitten to death at night. There were no mosquito nets over the beds and I assume that they were getting in through the thatched roof as we weren't able to track them down and get rid of them. My little one got 50 bites over a couple of nights and I had a couple of dozen - even using DEET and trying to cover up at night. I could barely sleep with them buzzing in my ear and ended up wearing full length clothes all night to avoid getting savaged every night! Annoying not to have nets which would have immediately solved the problem and are standard in many other hotels we have traveled to around Africa. Some more positive things were the availability of taxis outside the hotel, who the hotel were able to call for you if you wanted. We went on a tour to the nearby Bandia Reserve which was pretty decent and the (quite grumpy) hotel events guy was able to arrange this easily. The staff were nice to the kids, although a bit rude and non-responsive to us which didn't make us feel particularly welcomed. Also for fellow Brits or other non-French speakers, the staff didn't speak much if any English (to be expected and we speak reasonable French so were able to get by). There was a bit of gentle harassment from sellers on the beach, but we've had worse and there were some nice bits and pieces to buy as souvenirs. Overall, probably not a place or hotel we would return to unfortunately.

Great hospitality in a hidden place

The host is a nice French lady who is trying her best to communicate in English and offer you everything possible to make you feel comfortable. Unfortunately the place is not on the beach as advertised, need around 10 minutes of interesting walk in between rural houses before to reach the beach. Beautiful walk anyway, quite fascinating. Rooms are all spacious. Perfect breakfast served in front of a pretty swimming pool surrounded by colorful Buganville. Honest price overall, little bit overpriced the pick up from the airport.

A Nice Room at a Good Price

Reviewed By traveladdict5609

La Hacienda is located in the center of the downtown area of Saly which results in easy access to banks and restaurants. The downside of the central location is the sounds from the outside world that filter in, particularly at night. On the other hand, those sounds would be there unless you stay far from the center. This usually happens only late at night and is not terrible if you wear earplugs. I enjoyed my stay there: the wifi was very reliable, the beds were firm, the room was spacious and kept clean by a good staff, there is a pool if you wish to swim, and everyone was friendly. For the money, this was a good stay. I would return.
