We didn’t find anywhere we wanted to eat in MDina (too cold) so stumbled across this venue. The outside is not too appealing, but please look beyond that for a nice lunch. My wife had grilled vegetable salad and I had a cheese free pizza. Both very nicely cooked and very good value.

Myn in Rabat

MYN in Rabat is part of a wider Albergo Diffuso concept, with future plans to include other properties in Rabat. The concept revolves around the conversion of heritage buildings within the same locality, creating a sense of community through shared resources. Live like history intended at MYN, a 400-year-old townhouse located in the heart of the historical village of Rabat and a step away from the silent city of Mdina. Originally a private residence that passed into our hands, MYN has been lovingly restored as a luxury accommodation for travellers looking to live the Maltese way offering 7 rooms on Bed and Breakfast basis.. MYN encourages you to live like a local in Rabat; wander through the hair-pin alleyways, drink tea from handleless glasses in the traditional band club, or pick up warm bread from the local baker to eat in the piazza. You can bask in the views from the Mdina bastions or listen to buskers near the gardens sing; whatever you envisaged from your holiday in Malta, MYN can help you achieve it – locally, sustainably, lovingly.

Well situated and very pleasant.

In a very quiet cul de sac but less than five minutes walk to a wide variety of restaurants, Domus Romana and the citadel. Street parking was OK but often a shortage of spaces. Small (free) car park about 50m away, also rather busy. Key code for access as reception not always manned. Room OK but not huge, with separate wet-room shower & basin/toilet. Well equipped with good wifi, fridge. TV, tea/coffee making facilities. Recommended.

D'Ambrogio Guesthouse

D'Ambrogio was built back in the late 70's by a man called Ambrogio for his daughter Pauline to raise her future family. After marriage, Pauline and her husband France raised three female children. Years after, the father passed away and all the children become young ladies and started families of their own. Since the house was too big for Pauline by herself, she decided to open up her house to guests and travelers. Today, D'Ambrogio Guesthouse has a total of 6 double rooms, 2 of which can be twin or double beds. The house has three floors. When entering the house, one finds a family studio room on the left and the breakfast area to the right, and a reception desk ahead. On the first floor, is a large common bathroom and another three double rooms, including the Master bedroom. On the Second floor are two rooms with bathroom. All rooms have access to the second floor roof terrace which is ideal for barbecues and outdoor dining. Sun beds are also provided for guests who would like to be sun-kissed in Malta in Summer.

D'Ambrogio Guesthouse felt like home

Reviewed By Agness W

I have stayed at the D'Ambrogio Guesthouse for 5 nights together with my best friend. We absolutely loved how calm this part of Malta (Rabat) was. We could relax, go jogging and zone out in the evening. Rabat is well-known for its Dingli Cliffs that we ran to twice (the distance was approximately 4,5 km away from D'Ambrogio Malta so if you love being active, I highly recommend staying there. D'Ambrogio Guesthouse was spotless. Our room was cleaned daily, delicious breakfast was served between 7:30 and 10:30 and we were often offered some extra snacks and sweets during the day. Also, we had a small balcony where we (me and my best friend) had breakfast and morning coffee together. We loved this routine! The wifi was super fast so both of us could work in the room. The speed of the internet was very important to us as we both work remotely. D'Ambrogio Guesthouse provided us with an amazing experience. Rochelle and Pauline (mother and daughter - the owners of the place) were like a family to us. They cared a lot about our well being, made sure we felt comfortable and happy and always recommended plenty of spots for jogging, sightseeing and dining out. During the New Year's Eve, they hosted a family party and share some amazing food with us - a mince casserole, Maltese styled meat with veggies and a mountain of desserts - from cookies to a fruitcake. We found it extremely nice and hospitable - thank you once again! Rochelle loves to travel so we connected immediately. We talked the same language of travels and surprisingly, she recently visited Poland - Gdańsk city! We met her entire family and exchanged greetings with everyone. It was a very emotional moment for me as I didn't spend Christmas home this year. Pauline was like our mother. She cared so much, had a chat with us every single day and crashed a few jokes with us although she was busy with other guests and cooking. She let me print out my boarding pass and cook some extra food in the morning. She also greeted us with a bottle of champagne that we drank on the New Year's Eve and organized a transport from the airport to D'Ambrogio Guesthouse - we arrived late in the evening and she wanted to make sure we would be taken to our place safely. To sum up, we loved this place and if we ever come back to Malta, we'll definitely stay there again.

Quirky find

Booked two nights at their quirky little guest house the decor is very different and done extremely well, A refreshing change from modern day hotels. Bed was super comfy and the pillows were amazing best night sleep I had a long time.Kitchenette was equipped with everything needed microwave, toaster, hob and small oven/grill. Housekeeper Tania is a very bubbly and helpful character who works hard to keep the place spotlessly clean. And the owner was at hand at all times to help with any queries. As I was in the ground floor apartment I cannot comment on the views but I hope to return and stay in one of the the upper floor rooms.

Zentral gelegenes Gasthaus

Casa Azzopardi Guesthouse

Stunning Accommodation in Rabat just outside Malta’s magical silent city.

Reviewed By loretaelizabeth

This beautiful accommodation has been lovingly and sympathetically restored. Our immaculate room was very spacious with high ceilings and a fully equipped kitchen. Our booking also included a delicious breakfast at a nearby café called Ta’Doni. I have travelled to Malta many times and usually stay with family, this time however, we decided to book a hotel instead. We came across Casa Azzopardi which is owned and managed by Johnny. Johnny was a wonderful host, welcoming us and recommending some fantastic local restaurants, including the nearby Townhouse No3 which uses local produce. I was a little concerned about noise from the nearby restaurants and road, but I need not have worried. I slept soundly and was not disturbed. The location is great. There is a nearby carpark if you are hiring a car or there are bus stops a 5-minute walk from the property (including buses to Valletta and St Pauls Bay). Mdina is a stone’s throw away. Rabat has changed a lot since I last visited (before the pandemic) and is thriving with many tasty eateries and wine bars, while still keeping its charm. Both Mdina and Rabat are lovely to walk around in the evening when the air is a little cooler. A fantastic place to stay, especially if you like history and want to immense yourself in Maltese culture. I highly recommend this accommodation and would happily return.

Decent room close to centre of Rabat

Reviewed By Francis M

The room is big enough, shower and toilet en-suite. Tea and coffee making facilities. Breakfast is sufficient if not dazzling. The catacombs are close by, they might even extend below the building. One negative is that you need to be on Facebook to sign into the wi-fi.
