The daily room service is terrible. On more than one occasion used towels were not replaced by the correct number of fresh ones. Once, when we pointed it out almost immediately, the girl returned over two hours later with the missing clean towels. At least once, it was obvious that the drinking mugs had not been washed. The girl just said “Oh, did I forget ?” Because the mugs had distinctive marks on the bottom, I then discovered that they were not being taken away and replaced with clean ones, but were apparently being cleaned (not very well - just a rinse) in the bathroom. Not satisfactory. The container fixed to the wall in the bathroom which holds the toilet brush is half-full of water. Not hygienic. The liquid soap dispensers in the shower are not labelled, but contain different coloured liquids, presumably shampoo and body wash ? My wife and I both have short, white / grey hair, so we cannot understand why we find long dark brown ones on the floor of the bathroom and bedroom. The timing of the room cleaning is so varied that we cannot be sure when it would be done. We don’t like to be disturbed if we are resting in the afternoon. On our first day, Reception told us it was after 10.00. Another day we were told it was between 16.00 and 18.00. Once we were visited after 18.00, when we had been out all day and were relaxing in our bedroom. On another day the room had not been done by 18.00, and as we did not want to be disturbed we asked just for the towels to be changed. The bathroom does not have glasses for toothbrushes, which is normally the case internationally. Other international hotels encourage re-use of towels to save water, etc. (by notices in bathrooms) and ask for towels required to be changed to be put on floor of shower. Also, no ‘spy hole’ in the door, which most hotels have for security. ‘Fire Exit’ signs are not clear on all floors. The balcony door does not lock from the inside, and the curtains do not close properly. I thought the room safe was broken, until I checked with Reception who told me I had to place a deposit on a removable lock and key. When I returned with a credit card I was told ‘cash only’. Why wasn’t I told this on my arrival ? There are no hand rails around the steps to the small heated pool. Only shiny slippery tiles with straight sharp edges. The shower surround and screen in that area do not close properly, allowing water to slosh around the floor around the adjacent toilet. Ugh ! The heating elements of the sauna are not covered. Wooden panels around it are fire-scorched. The sand-timer is very inaccurate. The five minutes shown in reality was nearly twelve. That’s it !

Where to begin ! I will be as accurate as I can. Firstly I would like to say how helpful and pleasant the young lad on reception when we arrived was. Can't fault his customer service at all ! Sadly , this was not reflected by other members of staff. The other lady who manages the reception needs to work on her customer service as very stressed and miserable most of the time. The young lady who helped on the bar needs to be given a price list as we were charged from 4 euros right up to 7 euros for the same type of beer ! Very limited choice on the bar sadly. The room itself....we were charged a 10 euro deposit upon arrival for the Aircon and TV remote, only to find that the TV remote didn't even work and the aircon unit just about worked . Positives, room was clean and spacious. Negatives the view we had was of a block of private apartments, aircon was on its last legs and TV remote didn't work. Please note the pool in the pics is not what you think, the pool is very small and sadly the one time we used it we noticed how it needed a good clean. Location is OK, about a 15 min walk to nearest beach and the main square. When we asked if we could leave bags for a while upon checking out as we had 2 hours to kill before we had to leave for the airport we were given an out right no !. I would highly recommend the English bar about a 2 min walk from the complex for food and drinks....absolutely lovely lady's run it and the food is good . Overall sadly we would not go back again.

This appartement is NOT for people wanting to rest and/or visit Malta

Reviewed By Simonisation

Warning: these appartements are NOT for people wanting to rest and/or visit Malta. (At least the appartement we had) We were in Malta with 3 adult couples. The appartement we had was spacious and good located to visit the island. The staff was very nice and helped us where they could. The breakfast was also very good. BUT, the appartement was not properly cleaned when we arrived, not properly maintained as we compare with the pictures of the website, not properly equiped and had his flaws. At first sight, the appartement is looking like the nice pictures, but very soon the little defects surface, too much to be left unnoticed and quite some of them really disturbing. The beds were not comfortable, they were worn out, most of us woke up with pain in our backs from sleeping. The appartement is located in "the" party place of Malta, which would not be a problem if it was properly isolated against noise. There are a few pubs in the street and at night you have the feeling your bed is in the street and in the pub (you hear everything). As a conclusion, we did not have good nights. We would not advice this appartement for families, only young people who are here to party without rest.

Traumhafte Aussicht auf der Dachterrasse

Reviewed By marcaE2022GQ

Tolle Unterkunft!

Booked apartment in September 2017 only to be rejected in Jan 2018

Booked using Booking.com and locked in a good price in September 2017 (as it was non-refundable). In January Booking.com said that my card issuer had blocked the payment triggering a cancellation. My card issuer gave me the authorisation codes that showed both Booking.com and the apartment payment systems had been authorised and they assured me that they have no record of any blocks on my card. No assistance was given by Booking.com or the apartment even though my holiday is in 10 days time! I called Booking.com and the call centre person even admitted on the call that it was 'overbooked'. It is unfair that if you do not show up at the hotel it can take your money but if they overbook they can cancel without much notice or assistance. It was also suspicious that even though the hotel booking was non-refundable they cancelled without any charge. The complaint is still open with Booking.com.

ThirtyFour Holiday Apartments St Paul's

Filthy/Disgusting place

Reviewed By ChristoKar

I had an extremely unpleasant experience with my apartment in Malta. Attached you can find pictures To begin with, I arrived in the place 10:30 as agreed by the landlord to leave my luggage (he agreed to that). The apartment was still to be cleaned as the previous tenants had just left. There was a guy that I guess was the cleaner (looked like an ex-junky). I got my key and went for breakfast and a walk with my fiancé. When I came back at 13:45 some things were tidied up but the place was still incredibly dirty. I texted the problems to the landlord but since I did not get a reply I called Hotels.com to complain. After they contacted the landlord I was promised that at 16:00 he will come over and have a look (2 hours after official check in time). When I came back at around 19:30 the apartment was in the same mess I had left it last time. Apparently since I was not present at 16:00 no one came to check/clean. That was unacceptable by any standards in any country! I called again to request my money back and cancel. I received 50% back but I believe that given that the cancellation was due to the bad state of the apartment and sloppiness of the owners I deserve full cancellation the least! First day of holiday was almost ruined due to the sloppiness of the landlord and the cleaners and the fact that I had to stress about finding a place to sleep that night. The offer from the landlord is stay the night and he will clean tomorrow to which I present you the pictures, would you sleep in a bed with dirty bed-sheets and white stains and brown on them? Would you use a fridge that smelled stale? Would you sit on a couch that was dirty most likely from spilled drinks and what not? I am looking forward to your answer and I hope you take this case in all its seriousness as the despicability of the apartment should not reflect on the good service I received from your colleagues who I talked with.
