The Bistra Hotel is placed at the foot of the Bistra mountain, close to the Mavrovo lake and the three chair lifts, leading to the wonderful skiing grounds. In the frames of natural beauty and resting infrastructure, the hotel makes a pleasant stay, vacation, fun and recreation all year round. It has 118 beds in nicely arranged rooms with jacuzzi baths or showers, toilets, telephones and TV-sets. Bistra has brand new exclusively equipped apartments with jacuzzi baths and showers. Our Restaurant offers rich choice of extraordinary specialties of sea food and traditional national dishes.

Reviewed By GordanPetWe have been there on several occasions, usually in spring. In 2022 we stayed for skiing in February, and were pleasantly surprised by some improvements. For dinner we were offered several different dishes and each time was good quality and kids and vegetarians were satisfied as well. It was at 100% guest capacity that week, but at no time it felt crowded or had any service delay. Staff were professional and nice. At one time my daughter got dizzy in the lobby for some reason and they rushed to help and bring juice. She was fine in a couple of minutes :). The pool was warm enough for the kids, and all the spa amenities were functional and up to standard. If you have energy after skiing you can visit the gym in the "sister" Hotel Sport below; it was decent. Bistra is pricey for Macedonian conditions. But even so I would advice to consider the Delux room. It was noticeably bigger and had a "jacuzzi" inside. Its just a slightly bigger bathtub with several water jets on the sides, but we did enjoy it. No need to write something for the perfect location, if you ski it is very convenient to use the shortcut 50m from Hotel doors to the chairlift.

Reviewed By Aeronaut65Mercure tetovo is probably the newest hotel in town, well situated in the centre. Hotel looks new and clean. It has a skybar on top of the building. I was upgraded to a "suite" , not sure what makes it a suite, maybe the two chairs in the room? Rooms is carpeted, aircon, sat.tv, minibar, kettle coffee/tea (not restocked)comfy bed, and strong wifi throughout. Bathroom massive with shower and toiletries. If you dont ask for a cleaning you migt be waiting for clean towels well into the afternoon. You can not be sure that shampoo is restocked either. Breakfast is served from 6:30 on the 2nd floor restaurant, cold warm items on offer and plenty of it. Good quality. Unfortunately there is no selfservice for coffee, so if staff is sitting on the smoking terrace chatting, you might end up having your coffee when you have finished your meal. Unless you make it yourself in the room or buy it next door. Had a few meals which were good quality and well priced, afternoon server were absolutely fantastic and serviceminded. Front desk staff friendly and helpful.

Reviewed By Luke ZWe stumbled upon this restaurant en route from Ohrid to Skopje via Mavrovo. The food—particularly the local dishes—were particularly good. The setting couldn’t be more denim either. The waiter was not shy about recommending dishes, and his advice (the meatballs in tomato sauce and the pork dish cooked in a ceramic pot in the oven) were spot on. The perfect place for lunch while touring Mavrovo or visiting the Bigorski Monastery just up the hill.

Very friendly and cosy
Reviewed By battimanWe arrived late in the evening, when it was dark and rainy, so it wasn't until the morning after we were able to fully enjoy the quaint village and the beautiful views from the hotel room. We stayed in two separate rooms with our two kids and were happy to find that the hotel had put us in rooms next to each other, as we hade wished when we made the booking. We discovered quite quickly that the WiFi signal was not very strong (non-existent) in our rooms but after I asked the receptionist/waiter in the hotel restaurant he immediately got on it and within thirty minutes they had hooked up an additional router and signal was excellent. Happy faces all over... The village is very small and quiet so naturally we had dinner at the hotel which was just lovely. A good mix of basic Macedonian food that everyone was very happy with. We were visiting during off-season so not a lot of guests but it seemed to be the place for locals to come and hang out - and smoke unfortunately. Amazing how distant indoor smoking seems now. Breakfast was included in the price and it was just perfect. Great coffee and a varied mix of bread, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages and of course "aivar" which was home made and delicious. We just stayed one night but we were sad to leave.

Reviewed By Idlir LThird time here and unfortunately every time i come back it gets worse. Extremely overpriced drinks and below average food. Service it’s terrible, we had to wait 20 min for the recipe and the restaurant was almost empty. Water in rooms is brown.

Unique and remarkable, the complex offers a varied content. In your stay you can join one of the unforgettable horseback riding tours, taste delicious traditional food, sailing on the Mavrovo lake, rafting on the river Radika and free of charge: hiking and picking berries with a local guide, cycling, fishing. The complex consists: hotel, restorant, auto-camp, store, farm and dairy.
A beautiful mountain hideaway, recommended for digital nomads, eager cyclists, hikers, and nature lovers.
Reviewed By Ana PA perfect place to get away from the city heat and noise in the summer. It’s 100% safe for single female travelers and the staff are simply terrific - always kind and helpful! It’s a friendly place, with great Internet connection, clean rooms, and a great restaurant with vegetarian dishes. The regional road runs by the complex, so it can get a bit noisy. Although the complex has bicycles for guests, for the most beautiful rides around the Mavrovo lake it’d be better to bring your own bike and wear a reflective vest. The road to the lake (Trnica - Mavrovi Anovi) may not be too wide, it’s under repairs and often congested with traffic, but it’s fine for experienced cyclists. And the sights are breathtaking! Having spent two weeks there in 2021, I intend to return next summer to Trnica for a longer stay.

Dissapointing staying
Reviewed By Damjana63After seeing comments and reviews on diff web pages, we had chosen this hotel, especially based on high rates for being clean, but it was a big dissapontment. The toailet was dirty, the whole bathroom was not clean, even the room was not clean, but still acceptable. We had to ask for add cleaning of the toilet. As it was really hot, air conditioning did not manage to cool down the room. It is a pitty, as hotel has been renewed, it has a great potential to be a great 4 star hotel. At the moment it does not fulfill those requirements.
