In the houses you will also find many luxuries such as a solarium or private sauna. The mountainous area where resort Obertraun is located is ideal for both a summer and a winter holiday. Our comfortable apartments in Obertraun are less than 1 minutes walk from the shore of Lake Hallstatt in the heart of the Austrian Lake District- 70 minutes from Salzburg.We are surrounded by breathtaking scenery and we are perfectly situated for summer or winter holidays by yourself or with family and friends. In summer there are a huge range of activities to keep everyone occupied from swimming, fishing, canoeing, diving, mountain biking, walking, hiking, climbing, paragliding, golf, white water rafting and caving.

Reviewed By linan152We booked one place and given another. You are very lucky if you have hot water in the shower and the shower is not the cleanest. The place is just off the train tracks. It's just not worth it....we are wery disappointed...

Reviewed By LukasK687We were 4 adults and all had a main dish and a dessert. We were from beginning to end satisfied with the quality of service and also the food. It is nice that there are vegetarian and vegan options available. The dessert was soo good and the price is absolutely okay for the provided quality.

We Michael and Gabriele Kadlec bought the chalet in October 2016 and renovated it in 8 month. The house itself was built in 1807. There are three apartments in the house. Every apartment has a kitchen with a big dining area, a big bedroom and a bathroom. Parking is available free on our property. The house has got a big garden, with barbecue places and a terrace around the whole house, where you can sit and have dinner or just enjoy the view and relax. Breakfast is not included in our prices, but we would be very happy to serve you a breakfast, everything from local products.

Reviewed By Andrew412This is an alternative to staying in Hallstatt. Very nice ground floor apartment. Large bedroom, large bathroom, nice kitchen dining room with fully loaded espresso machine. Free parking. Catch the ferry across the lake to Hallstatt, short drive to the cable car up to the Fingers lookout. Easy after hours check in (owners not available). Quiet location on a working farm. Very hospitable hosts. I would definitely stay here again.

It's like they're big bos with big mouth and you're nothing, but bringing money to them. My friend failed to read the reviews and ratings first, so now regret. The money that you paid & the service that you get is totally opposite. Everything is charged from parking, shower ... 2 nights camping €134 !!! Beter in a hotel with breakfast included.

Exceeds expectation
Reviewed By DandeliousI think Seehotel am Hallstättersee exceeds my expectations in many ways. It is close to the Obertraun train station, the bus stop to the Salt Mine and the Ice Cave, and the ferry pier from Obertraun to Hallstatt Lahn so I had easy access to the opposite side of the lake. Though there is no one at the reception before 3 pm, they have arranged a staff interacting with the guests through something like skype. She was able to answer all inquiries and she was very polite and friendly. Luggage can be stored under a shelf opposite the reception counter before check-in and after check-out. There is no lift for guests but there is a lift for luggage so I had no problem sending my luggage (23kg+) to the top floor and meeting it there. The hotel as a whole and the room are very clean and nicely designed. The bed is comfy so I slept very well. They have buffet breakfast from 7:30-9:30 am offering a good variety of food such as cereals, toasts, hams, cheese, milk, juice, boiled eggs, sausages etc. Overall, I enjoy my stay here and will recommend it to my friends and family if they visit Hallstatt.

Reviewed By Fernando PWhen I was considering to book a room in this hotel, I was in doubt about it because of some negative reviews that I read. Nevertheless, I decided to book even so, and my experience there was GREAT. I, respectfully, think that many negative comments here are unfair, as I’m going to explain while I give my perceptions about the hotel. Overview: Obertraun is a small city (approx. 800 people). The hotel is in front of the lake with a wonderful view. It provides a very helpful free bus pass to the region (Hallstatt etc). The owner is very helpful and kind. It’s a family business run with much care and respect for the guest. Check in: excellent. The time for check in is between 15:00-19:00. The management of the hotel emailed me telling me this and asking me to tell in advance if I would arrive after 19:00 because they would put the keys in a place where I could pick it. I arrived early, and I saw in the entrance of the hotel a key locker where the late guests can just put a code and pick the key. Moreover, when I booked the room in Expedia, there was also a warning about the time to check in. Therefore, it’s just a matter of the guest pay attention and contact in advance. Mr. Meinrad was very kind and attentive in the check in. Staff: I really don’t understand those who complained. The owner of the hotel is extremely kind and helpful. He was always very patient to help to advise the best places to go in the area. His wife was also very kind. It’s very clear how much they care for the hotel and do their best to receive well the guests. I think that guests also need to analyses themselves before complaining about small things and make a storm in a teacup. Location: the hotel is located in Obertraun which is a neighbor city of Hallstatt. It’s very easy to go to Hallstatt from there, and the hotel provides you free public transport in the region (bus). It is also located in front of the lake and the view is gorgeous! Bear in mind that Obertraun has approximately 800 inhabitants, so don’t go expecting to have a coffee in Starbucks etc. Even though, once again, Mr. Meinrad, very kindly, offered to prepare a coffee in the evening while he was there. There is a restaurant (I think the whole city only has two or three) near the hotel. Breakfast: with all do respect, I think some guests when travel become “breakfast Master chefs”. I always say, is the breakfast better or worst compared to the one that you have in your house? The breakfast was good! Juice, coffee, cappuccino, bread, cheese, ham, yogurt etc. If you want to have a five stars Michelin breakfast you need to be willing to pay for that. In this sense, I didn’t have any problem with the breakfast and the restaurant also has a great view of the lake and the mountains. Room: I stayed in a room with a view to the lake. I read that some other for single doesn’t have private bathroom, but it is told on the website. In my case, the room was cozy, and I liked the bed as well. The bathroom had everything necessary. Even though it didn’t have a cabin for the shower, it wasn’t an issue (many hotels in Europe are like this). The room was cleaned every day, and it was clear the concern to keep it organized for the guest. Recommendation: book a room with a view to the lake! It’s outstanding! I had a wonderful time over there, and I’m looking forward to return to this beautiful city and this friendly hotel!

This family-run, renovated guesthouse is beautifully located in the idyllic town of Obertraun in the Salzkammergut region, only a few steps away from the shores of picturesque Lake Hallstatt. The panoramic mountain scenery can be admired from the bedrooms south-facing balconies and from the terrace. The traditionally furnished rooms have modern bathrooms. The hearty breakfast buffet is served on the sunny terrace in fair weather. Some evenings dinner is served by prior arrangement. The dining room has views of the surrounding mountains and forests. Haus Hepi is close to the Dachstein Caves, the historic town of Hallstatt, and the spa town of Bad Ischl. The Krippenstein ski area is only 2 km away. The Dachstein-West region with 140 km of slopes can be reached in only 20 minutes. There are many hiking and biking trails that start at Haus Hepi.

Reviewed By johnvincent2I can find no reason not to break their 5 stars rating as so many others who have stayed there have rated them as well. Lisa and Larry are the most friendly and cordial hosts we have stayed with so far in our one month trip through Austria. Great location for the gondola and ice caves. Great breakfast. Clean rooms with great sunny common room. Tea, coffee and a few snacks always available at any time.
