Overpriced .

Bedrooms very dated, in fact the entire hotel could do with a re vamp. Very limited parking for holding a wedding or function of any kind. The worst part was 4 or 5 couples were charged different rates for the same room, when questioned reception, s answer was Oh sorry, my mistake, REALLY ?????????????

Hill of Tara House Bed and Breakfast

Out of this world...perhaps literally.

Reviewed By TimothyScanlon

I was, for the first time, travelling to Ireland alone. I usually went with my wife, but she advised me to travel on my own this time. I'm not into "the hill of Tara" except as an historical artifact, but my spouse had stayed with Sinead at the House before, so I was "connected." It was absolutely delightful. Sinead and Derek are fabulous; they're kids are "not of this world." The community itself is...what would you expect of rural Ireland? (For cryin' out loud, the Maguires run the area like the Hatfields and McCoys ran WV a few years ago!) The facility was remarkable: the "Hill" is but a skip away. There's a café...of course "Maquires"--I say that in a GOOD way, not a bad--just next door. I'm a tour guide by trade so, after breakfast one day, I was amused by a busload or two of tourists to see "the Hill." Okay, ladies and gents, I'm used to you. Overall I had a fabulous time. I'm inclined to want to put pics of the kids, Bonnie and Daisy, here, but I'm not sure it'd be appropriate. And, as to the "hill," it's spittin' distance, as I say in the American south, from the facility. There's some to learn in the Anglican cemetery attached to the church which is now that Hill's visitors' center. All I can do is praise the place. I'll be back sooner rather than later. Thanks, to all.

The Yellow House B&B

Set in its own grounds with antiques throughout. This quiet location with plenty of off road parking, is only 2 minutes walk from the bus that takes you to the Arrival / Departure building at Dublin Airport, or Dublin City every 15 minutes. Within a short walk to town centre or an easy commute to all the Heritage Sites in the Boyne Valley area. Great choice for breakfast with home cooking a specialty.

Excellent Stay

We had such a lovely, restful stay at this clean and very comfy B&B. We were quickly checked in and given everything we'd need or expect from a B&B. We didn't use the tiny TV, there's no tea service in the room, but it was big enough to have a place to sit down as well as our nice bed. Solid Wifi. We were offered a nice breakfast in the morning. The place was gated - your car will be very safe, and in a quiet little neighborhood less than a five-minute drive from the town of Navan. The airport was about 40 minutes away on a weekday at 7am. Easy to walk around, easy to relax. We'd recommend this place and would stay again.

Seriously lacking in customer service

Reviewed By ma6397

We had an autistic child with us who was unsettled as he seen the balloon decorations in the premises, he obviously wanted to try get them. We were trying to get him relaxed and we were approached by a male member of staff and asked if we would like some drinks. That was ok until I ordered my drink and he walked away from the rest of the people at the table without asking if they would like anything. My partner tried to ask for something but the waiter proceeded to walk away, maybe he didn’t hear/understand but still he never asked the other members of the table. At this stage a blonde waitress returned and asked if we were ready to order which we weren’t as the child was still very unsettled and kept trying to stand on the chair so we asked for a few more minutes. In the mean time the child then proceeded to get off the couch and try walk to them balloons, I am currently 7 months pregnant myself so I could not lift the child, so the child’s mother went out after him but the blonde waitress returned and done nothing but stare and throw looks at the child along with the man behind the carvery. In fairness they probably thought the child was just acting up but my partner apologized to her and tried to explain he was autistic and didn’t understand. The waitress probably didn’t understand herself as to be very honest she wasn’t listening. It was not a nice situation to be in and I wasn’t happy the way it was handled by staff with the dirty looks. The mother and the child had to go out and sit in the car while we proceeded to eat. The food was nice, but my partner wanted a carvery which he ordered off the waitress. But he seen the carvery chef standing there so he just asked if he had to go up or if it was going to be served to him as he was unsure. The chef said “whatever you want to do” and shrugged his shoulders, so he went up and the chefs mask was on his chin for the duration of us being there which I didn’t think was nice considering he was serving the food. He was the rudest member of staff I came across there was no common curtesy of “your welcome, enjoy your meal etc” I did try to see if there was a manager available but I was just so annoyed the way we were treated today and it spoiled the day. Seems to be lacking in customer service as I’m in the industry myself and I know if I acted like that towards any of my customers I would loose potential business. I would never complain as I know how hard working with the public can be but I believe we were treated very poorly and I believe my opinion needed to be shared. I definitely wouldn’t return in a hurry which is a pity as the food is nice. Just feel the staff could be more trained in customer service and recognize the signs of an autistic child. It’s hard enough without people staring and judging

Wonderful Stay in a Historic B&B

Excellent home cooked Irish breakfasts served by a delightful hostess. Eggs, thick Irish bacon, fresh hot scones. There was a choice of coffee or tea; we opted for tea served with brown sugar and rich milk. Large and comfortable bed in a bedroom with a view of the Irish countryside. My wife, a retired preschool teacher, loved the faerie trail outside and thinks it would be a delightful attraction for young children. We stayed 4 nights.
