Balcony overlooking the water was the highlight of our trip!

Reviewed By Jamie J

If you are considering a room with a waterfront balcony… just book it!!! We were torn between the Holiday Inn and the Delta and we are so glad we chose the Holiday Inn. Nothing beats the waterfront balcony. Waking up to the breeze off the water, drinking coffee in sun, watching the ships coming and going, the sound of the water. You must stay here! Rooms were clean and we loved having a microwave and fridge. Bathrooms were large bright and spotless. Disappointed they didn’t offer room service but Uber Eats took care of that. Pool was warm and workout facilities clean and overlooking the water. Great location so many little bars and restaurants to walk to. Definitely checkout the Blue Martini for a cocktail and live music on the weekend. We cannot express how much we enjoyed staying here! We will be back.

Hidden gem!

Reviewed By megazettai

What a hidden gem! This place is clean, quiet, decent (i have experienced worse). Nothing off or iffy at all (i.e.which may be associated with 'motel'). Came here with in laws (seniors). Was worried they dont like the place (they dont even want to stay at 'diamond' airbnb). But they are happy with a very good quality of this accomodation. Convenient location ..it's just off the highway.. circle K, a&w, gas station are also next door (5min walk). Across the street is paramedic office. Washroom has no fan though. May feel damp overnight. Regardless, I still highly recommend this place. Cleanliness is utmost importance.

Fantastic value !

I was very tired of driving from Montreal to Toronto, so I decided to stop in Kingston. I checked in late at night. I had a friendly chat with a Queen's history major at the Front Desk. The room was extensive with a sofa bed & big desk. In the morning, there is a good breakfast menu. I will definitely stay here the next time I am inn Kingston.

Newly renovated, great hotel to stay in, big bang for the buck

Reviewed By thankunextbeach

The room that we got was recently renovated and I liked it! The beds don't look too bulky and at the same time it feels comfortable! The desk staff are friendly and were able to help us in whatever we needed. Also, they have free hot drinks with scalding hot water available at the back of the lobby. It was definitely different from the other Motel 6s we stayed in. Especially with the price that we got (just half the price compared to other suburban highwayside hotels in the city and 1/3 to 1/4 the price of the waterfront hotels). Big bang for the buck!

The Secret Garden Inn at Argyle Place

The Secret Garden Inn is fully restored and historically designated, was built in 1888 in the Queen Anne Victorian style. The Inn has a perfect 100 Walk Score from Trip advisor and is located in the heart of Kingston's historic district within walking distance of downtown, Queens University and the waterfront. After nearly a quarter of a century as a bed and breakfast, the historic Secret Garden Inn has undergone a remarkable, phased transformation into a full-service inn in 2020. As we update and reinvigorate the inn, we pay homage to its traditional Victorian style—while introducing the modern luxuries and finishes our guests desire to deliver a tranquil space. Finishes have been lovingly returned to their original patina; hardwood floors revitalized; original bathrooms renewed by new tiles and hardware. Some of the updates to guest and common areas include: • Fast, reliable high-speed wireless internet throughout the inn • Large 48” smart TVs • Individual Keurig-style coffeemakers • Hand-sewn Roman shades in vibrant colors • Sumptuous, hand-loomed cotton sheets • Casper Wave mattresses • Newly renovated bathroom with luxurious tiles and fixtures Each of our seven guest rooms has its own individual style. In designing our overall concept, we considered the brilliant colors of our eponymous garden. Room monikers are derived from recognizable local Kingston legends and iconic landmarks. Enjoy afternoon refreshments in the lovely parlour or library, a hot or cold drink on the covered front porch or sit near the serenity of the koi pond. Savor creative breakfasts served by candlelight in our oak paneled dining room with guests from around the world!

Wondering venue for an intimate wedding

The Secret Garden Inn was the perfect place to host our small wedding. We had our rehearsal, ceremony and reception all at the Inn and were able to offer our immediate family a comfortable place to stay. Victoria was very reassuring throughout the process and organized our catering, rentals and made sure that we were happy throughout. Ryan was our talented bartender and our guests loved his menu of creative cocktails. The chef was interactive and put a lot of hard work into our meals. The venue itself is beautiful and a wonderful place for photos as all the furniture adds charm to the space. Thank you to the rest of the staff behind the scenes that helped to make our experience so special. Tim & Michelle

Wow , this was such a lovely bed and breakfast , check in non contact , although we did meet a wonderful staff member when we arrived . We had room #1 , on the first floor , large window to view the side garden. The gardens and property are very nice. The porch was great for a drink or two. Later on at dusk the gas fire pit was running , very nice. This bed and breakfast built in 1849 -50 , all the charm you are looking for. You like stone this place has it. Nice sitting room . Without that old house smell. The room amenities , bed was nice , did not miss the TV and the bathroom was excellent. Great shower. The breakfast in the morning was excellent , sandwich ,cheese, fruit , croissants. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening here. Thanks

Here is our experience booking with Delta for the May long weekend. I wanted to treat my GF to a little getaway.

Here is our negative experience booking with Delta for the May long weekend. I wanted to treat my GF to a little getaway. She had loved her experience with Delta 10 months ago and was excited to go back. It was not a pleasant hotel experience and here’s why: • Poor service from the booking agent (butchered my last name, incorrect Email address); • The price of the room was borderline highway robbery for one night (around $550). Parking ($30) and breakfast not included; • Did not honour a little request to have bathrobes and slippers in room; and • Ordered room service for breakfast the next day. It took them 45 minutes to bring it to our room, and some items on the tray were cold (i.e.: toast, eggs). The fact that the watermelon slice was already eaten off the plate was inexcusable. By then, my frustration was noticeable, and my girlfriend’s experience ruined. End of day this was to be a beautiful story shared with our family and loved ones and sadly the Delta experience is by far our most unsatisfactory story. I would love to know where my girlfriend’s amazing stay 10 months ago could have been so tarnished this time around. We had a great time in the city! We will go back to Kingston as it is a beautiful city with much to see and do. But we will NOT be using this hotel ever again.

Don't stay here if you need wheelchair accessibility

Reviewed By Accessibility_Queen

I stayed at the hotel with a friend and we checked in on June 3 and checked out on June 4. As I use a wheelchair, I asked for an accessible room with grab bars beside the toilet and a raised toilet seat. While the room itself was very spacious, we were disappointed to find that there was no raised toilet seat in the bathroom and we called the front desk to ask for one to be brought to our room. It never was provided to us. We were even more disappointed to see that the beds in the room were way too high. My manual wheelchair is pretty standard and the mattress was as high as my armrests. My friend put a cushion on the floor for me to stand on as she helped me get into bed. An accessible bed should be low so a person in a wheelchair can get into it easily without a struggle. We should not have to risk our safety. We noticed that the electrical outlet near the dresser was not working so my friend couldn't charge her phone there.
