BUT ... room temp sweating at 29C, change to Cool A/C is no difference, asked for small window which dropped to 25C but wind howling in under the door all night smelling of smoke. Broken English spoken at reception only, but no knowledge of wine or spirits at bar and out of stock of most items. Staff do try though. Hotel is 30 minutes across the river flat from Harbin CBD, not an issue for us with driver. Sunac Shopping Mall and indoor ski world arounTd the corner is worth a visit. Harbin Ice Festival is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, a magical night. he Siberian Tiger reserve was also great, and not as disturbing in the large parklands.

Reviewed By R1218AFpeteraWe spent Xmas in Sofitel Harbin and had a fabulous break. Everything was great, from the hotel limo pick-up at the airport, to the welcome on arrival, our terrific room, the hospitality in the Club Lounge, the breakfast and the joyful Xmas Dinner, complete with Santa wearing a protective mask. Everyone knows that Harbin in the winter is really cold, but the warmth of the welcoming staff could not have been better. To name staff is difficult because I can't remember all of the names, but among them special thanks to Lydia who generally looked after us, Sybil in the Club Lounge, Guilio at breakfast and the driver who drove the airport limo as well as the bus to the Ice Festival. There's a terrific park opposite the hotel that was covered in fresh snow throughout our stay and which has an excellent walking track as well as lots of family activity playing in the snow. The Ice Festival was sensational, and a fast train day trip to the snow resort of Yabuli was also memorable. Top marks to the hotel, the staff and to the sights of Harbin. Our 2020 Xmas was one to remember.

The staff were very friendly although not many spoke English but there was a young man who did and we were able to communicate effectively. The room was airy and neat but did not have a great view. The breakfast buffet is huge and offers many great options however it is NOT halaal so we had to go for the veg which was still pretty good. We also had afternoon tea and ate the most delicious cheesecake.

Fine hotel for short stay
Reviewed By BushrakhalidEverything is very near and easily approachable from the location of this hotel. breakfast was below average in quality and options and it was not complimentary. The hotel is over all clean. many visitors but the lift is only one and you have wait in the queu to get your chance to go up other wise take stairs and go. It is very economical hotel for short stay. you may find better options at the same location in the same price. Zhongyand street, sophia Temple are very near, taxi is easily available any time, stores are very near as it is located in the center of the downtown. I visited in January and it was so cold and the rooms were not warm enough. We asked the receptionists and made them understand with out bad Chinese to make our room warm enough.

The Tripadvisor morons wouldn't let me request a listing for the restaurant so, this will have to do. The restaurant serves fancy versions of American foods - burgers, pizza, pasta, salads, steaks, and so on. The food is actually pretty good. By Chinese standards, though, the food might be a bit pricey (the Gas Station Burger, which you should definitely try, was 48 RMB and my bowl of cream of spinach soup was another 20-something), but definitely worth it. And, no, you don't have to be a guest at the hotel to eat there.

Dirty, and cleaning is not every day 5. No soap, only 1 towel for person 6. Staff doesn't know English 7. No hot water/ or low pressure, sometimes water is dirty and rusty 8. Kettle is covered with rust (its replacement hasn't help) 9. Breakfast at underground level is cheap (8RMB) but looks ugly (we didn't try luck to taste it).
