Reviewed By Toi_Toi_TzStayed at Novotel for 3 nights during the Queens Bday weekend. We were 2 families with kids and it was our first time in Hamilton. The rooms were modern, fresh, clean and very comfy bed and pillows. Staff were friendly and approachable. However, our hotel experience was greatly enhanced by the customer service from Leslie at the front desk. She was professional, extremely helpful and her proactive approach in assisting us with just about anything - from parking, check-in, complimentary drinks, food, direction, check-out, etc. was such a welcome surprise. It is very rare that we are made to feel at home in a hotel. Very grateful for going the extra mile to do that. We also noticed she has the same passion and enthusiastic demeanor with other guests as well. Such an asset to your team. Top-notch customer service worth coming back to.

Reviewed By onenightbreakLocation of the motel was great, it was close to shops and places to eat. The room had all the amenities, the spa was a lovely bonus. Bed was comfortable. The only downside is that breakfast was not available due to covid, I did not notice this being mentioned online when I booked.

Disappointing experience

Arrived tired from a long drive to find only one bed made up in our room (we'd noted that we needed 3 beds on our booking form). The person on the front desk was not at all apologetic, and told us there was linen for the sofa bed in the cupboard so we could make it ourselves, and that she would bring up a trundle bed. We then found we had to go back to reception to get fresh milk, and then again for the apple tv remote. Which was a bit of pain as we were on the 2nd floor and tired. We finally got into bed and saw a large cockroach on the wall above the cupboard. Not our best night.

Excellent hotel close to city centre
Reviewed By O6651CCsabrinabThe hotel was very cosy and fit 4 of us on 2 large beds. We were going to some clubs in the city centre which was about 10 minutes from the hotel. You could either Uber or grab a nearby Lime scooter to get there. Late checkin at 10pm available which was very handy and everything was very easy! Only down is the bathroom is very small with little ventilation, so if doing makeup you’ll need to go to the mirror door in the room as the steam takes ages to ventilate after a shower.

The hosting couple are lovely and really make you feel like you are old friends they just hadn't met before. The premium breakfast is just that, and the kids loved the range of fresh fruit and cereals. We stayed in the River suite and it had everything we expected and needed to make our stay relaxing and stress free. We definitely will be coming back!!

Reviewed By Lubee17My workmates and i stayed there for three nights. Beautiful rooms lovely hosts. Would recommend to all. It is close to the hospital, easy to find. Close to shops. If you want peace and quiet this is the place. We didnt have to pay but did ask. The prices are reasonable.

The negatives we found were: The bathroom had been re-furbished, but was not totally finished, There were gaps in the tiling, the ceiling wasn't painted. There were very minimal toiletries, only 1 towel each. The floor wasn't very clean. An only mentioning this as the room cost $220.

The Stadium Motel is a centrally located, modern hospitality complex. The unique tranquility of being situated across the road from a picturesque tree-lined council park and reserve provides a very quiet and peaceful environment for all guests. This prime location allows for easy access (walking distance) to the CBD of Hamilton and many of the city’s sporting and theatrical clubs. Less than 50 metres from the gates to Waikato Stadium, 5 minutes walk to the nearest supermarkets and restaurants, and less than 10 minutes walk to the CBD makes this quiet complex ideally located to base yourself from for all activities whether business or pleasure. It is also only a short drive to the Claudelands Event Centre, Hamilton Gardens, The Base Shopping Complex or Westfield’s Chartwell Mall. Hamilton Airport is a 20 minutes' drive and Hobbit is 45 minutes.
Grubby, scruffy and disappointing
Reviewed By Flyingkiwiki1010We were in Hamilton for a week on business and stayed at the Stadium Motel, in one of three 2 bedroom duplex apartments located adjacent to the main accommodation wing. Lets start with the positives: Our host was a lovely lady who was very pleasant. The motel is not used for MSD emergency housing and our unit had quite new TV's in both bedrooms and a very large TV in the living area with good picture quality. And now for the negatives: Our apartment was tired, uncared for and worse, it was not clean. Stadium Motel is a very standard type of lodging that was probably built about 20 years ago, and since then has apparently enjoyed little maintenance and no refurbishment. Many of the fixtures and furnishings are stained, dented, broken or just old and tatty. But it was the lack of cleanliness that was most concerning. Crusty food splatters in the microwave and on a dinnerplate, dirty windows and walls, dusty grime covered appliances and surfaces, and curtains hanging off the rails were some of the faults that quite obviously have gone unattended for months or years. Much of this could be easily rectified with a scheduled maintenance and cleaning program, which I did bring to the attention of our lovely host. Stadium Motel may never be the destination for a family vacation or a romantic getaway, but it should be an okay place to stay, which sadly at the moment it's not. Instead it was a rather depressing place to be.

Reviewed By Gwen OI don’t usually place negative reviews on trip advisor as I believe sometimes a poor experience is just unlucky or a one off. However it is clear that this hotel is in a rundown state and poorly managed. The window sill and wall were crumbling, a broken window had been fixed with a piece of perspex and cello tape, see photos below. The hairdryer didn’t work, the bath had no plug, there was a takeaway lid under the bed and the whole room looked shabby. On the positive side the room was large, the bed clean and comfy and desk staff polite and attentive, bringing a hairdryer and plug promptly. We would not stay here again.
