A CALM GREEN OASIS - THE PERFECT PLACE TO STAY WHEN VISITING THE SALENTO

Reviewed By contentsparis

How wonderful it was to return to the Villa Elisabetta this summer (our 3rd stay)! It is still the calm, comfortable and welcoming place it was when we first stayed there 12 years ago. It was a bit like coming home after a long absence. Villa Elisabetta has two sites; one is in the historic center of Galatina (two rooms) and the other in the countryside about a 10-minute drive from Galatina through stone-lined roads and olive groves. The first time we came to Galatina (with our then 16 year old daughter), we stayed in town and went out to the country property to swim. It was great fun to be in the town, have breakfast in the local café and get a feeling for local life. The second time we visited, we stayed in the countryside and were delighted to be in a calm green oasis when we returned from long sunbathed days full of sightseeing. Enrico Inguscio, the "maître des lieux", has created and maintained a delightful B&B: calm, green, comfortable, and very welcoming. It is a small structure, just 6 rooms for the moment, with all the comforts of home including a lovely swimming pool, a well-kept tennis court, and parking inside the gates. The rooms are spacious and well appointed as are the bathrooms, and are organized for privacy. Everything is meticulously clean and well kept. Enrico is energetic and friendly - there when you need him or want to talk but discreet and respectful of his guests' privacy. The Wi-Fi and A/C work perfectly, so no worries there! Villa Elisabetta is great for couples and families. It is a perfect place to stay as a base when visiting the Sud Salento (Lecce, Otranto, and all of the Piccola Grecia). It's very central and not far from the sea. There is a "trullo" room in the garden if you want a romantic setting, a very spacious suite with an enormous terrace on the first floor of the main house, two rooms on the ground floor, and two large independent rooms in the garden as well. Enrico is building 5 new rooms on the other side of the property (it looks like they will be fantastic). Villa Elisabetta is open most of the year, so you can also stay there in the spring or the fall. What more can I say? If you are travelling to the Salento and are looking for an excellent B&B, STAY AT THE VILLA ELISABETTA!

Lovely peaceful stay

We had a lovely 4 night stay here with friends. Alberto met us at Galatina station so that we could follow him to the property. He was very friendly and we enjoyed chatting to him. His English is extremely good. The en-suite rooms were spacious, comfortable and very clean in beautiful, peaceful surroundings, a short drive from Galatina. We enjoyed Alberto’s daily selection of pastries for breakfast. All in all a wonderful place to stay.

Really enjoyed our stay here. First time in Galatina and it was certainly a great welcome. Rooms were spacious with a great touch of elegance and design preserving the historical details of italian barocco . Breakfast was simple but you can choose what you like eat or drink...maybe better but they're organizing a bar upfloor for next year so i think it would be great. Central and close to main streets and very close to S. Cathrin's Church that is wonderfu. Thank you for your great hospitality.

What a beautifull B&B, we a family of 4 realy enjoyed our stay here in Li Pappi, the room was spacious and most important... CLEAN and it was nice styled. The garden is well kept with a nice pool that they keep clean well. You can use the bikes for free. And the Breakfast was ok, not special but just fine. We didnt see much of Galantina because when we arrived it was some kind of holiday so everything was closed for 2 days. By car you can reach the beaches on both ways whitin 30 minutes. For us this was a 5 star experience. Thank you Li Pappi :)

Amazing magical place to stay?

Castello Castriota Scanderbeg is a very special place that has a certain magic. The location is excellent and a good starting point to navigate around the beautiful South of Puliga. The staff were amazing, attentive 6th, and really went out of their way to ensure our stay was perfect. Alexandrea, Barbara and Antonio were excellent, professional and very committed to the buisiness. They deserve an award of excellence? Then of course there is Tina who cleans the rooms, she is such a lovely and gentle lady who always has a smile on her face. Thank you for a perfect stay and really looking forward to staying again when you become a hotel. ?

Great stay!

Tastefully elegant hotel with big rooms and good A/C. Great location but not easy to drive to because of the restricted driving zone and upcoming festival. Good garage but tight. So much to see and do around the hotel with walking and driving options available. The staff were so nice a nd gave great dinner suggestions. We stayed 2 nights to tour the area and it was perfect. Bed was comfortable and the hotel was quiet. Like staying in a palace. Breakfast was good and varied too. Only complaint was no shower curtain so you had to be careful not to splash all over the bathroom. It was our only hotel in 2 weeks that had tissues and that was great.

Out of season stay

Reviewed By Neverathome1

On arrival the hotel looked fairly well presented. The rooms were as pictured however they needed some attention ( only minor things and easily fixed ..toilet seat broken, window unit broken down, headboard loose ) and the cleaning could be improved. The hotel in general has huge potential to be lovely, maybe as we were out of season we didn’t see it at its best. Lovely outside area which I feel had been neglected over the winter. Pool would be fantastic in the summer but again was unkept. Breakfast was usual continental style. Evening meals choice of 3 dishes each night and most were ok. One night we arrived at dinner and the whole restaurant was decorated for a function which left us feeling a little awkward as they put a table up the corner of the room and told us not to worry as the function guests wouldn’t eat until later! We quickly ate and left which wasn’t great they should have given us a heads up as we had eaten there every night prior. Parking also available on site. Note.. I had to rate this as ‘average’ but I do feel it was a bit better than average but just not ‘very good’
