Strand Hotel Swakopmund

With its extensive, unique and creatively entertaining restaurants, bars, deli, lobby-lounge, sea facing terraces and beach kiosk, set on this historic and iconic site, the Strand Hotel Swakopmund is a destination in itself for all visitors to and residents of Swakopmund. Its architectural inspiration finds its roots deep in Namibian German history and reflects this in a tasteful contemporary manner. The interiors are residential in nature, and the brief to all designers involved is to create a non-hotel hotel. One as charming and welcoming as the town it is in. Simply very warm and comfortable, and as they say in German: "Gemutlich" with a genuine "sense-of-place". Every aspect of the Strand Hotel Swakopmund is being developed according to international four-star standards. It's very possibly going to be the benchmark against which all hotels/lodges in Namibia will be measured. The Strand Hotel Swakopmund is not simply being built, it is being sculptured.

Beach Lodge Swakopmund

Our name says it all. The fresh sea breeze and the soothing sounds of the Atlantic Ocean at night turn any traveller’s journey into a dream vacation. We proudly present our upmarket lodge situated right at the beach in a lovely residential neighbourhood within 5 km from the city centre. Choose between our 2 standard family rooms, 10 twin rooms and 7 luxury rooms suitable for the individual traveller, families and corporate travellers. Why not opt for a room on the ground floor with a beach front veranda, which offers uninterrupted views of the ocean? This is one of the few places in the desert where you can enjoy the soft, green lawn under your feet and, a few meters further, the sea sand between your toes. Rooms on the first floor have balconies and also offer this visual treat. Looking for an exceptional culinary experience? Our signature restaurant The Wreck is on-site for your convenience and offers international dishes – something for every palate. It varies from an à la carte menu to light lunches and surfer snacks. Our game and seafood dishes are especially popular. Pair your meal with one of many handpicked South African wines. The view of the Atlantic Ocean is unbeatable. A sundowner drink is imperative for admiring the orange-pink-tinted skies before they turn dark and become a canvas of stars. If you ask any local to give you directions to the restaurant that looks like a ship, everyone will understand what you are referring to. Be sure to make a reservation to avoid disappointment, as our clientele is often local and we also cater for visitors from other hotels. Breakfast will also be served here to help you get a kick-start to your day.

Charming hotel but avoid the food.

The staff were friendly and helpful and the room was lovely and comfortable. The hotel is in a great position, with shops close by. The food was awful. The fish was not fresh and it was overcooked and tasteless. The game dishes were served with weird tasting sauces and vegetables.

Excellent lodging near the Swakopmund CBD

Reviewed By AzRat

May 2022 - Three night stay prior to our one month self drive. Excellent accommodation in Swakopmund. Great walkable area close to cafes, bars, the beach, and CBD area shops. From the moment we arrived Olly and her team made us feel comfortable and provided great local information. Our room was very comfortable and had all the nice amenities for a short stay. While not truly a huge suite the room was perfectly designed for comfort. The lodging is small and provided vouchers for breakfast at some great local restaurants (we especially enjoyed The Village Cafe). Our first night we dined next door at “Swakopmunds best Italian/pizza restaurant”, Gabriele’s, the following evening at the Tug for seafood (thanx to Olly for the last minute reservations), and then around the corner at Fachwerk Biergarten for a fun evening of beer and Bavarian food. Short walk to several supermarkets to ‘stock up’ for our driving trip. Swakopmund Luxury Suites had the perfect blend of location and super friendly staff that made for a great stay.

We had the best honeymoon ever. Our unit was a nice spacious one bedroom unit upstairs, with the most spectacular view from our bedroom and living area. A cozy balcony that you can enjoy a nice cup of coffee or a cozy sundowner. We we're privileged to be able to bring our little brown nose Yorkie with us. The owners are so helpfull and kind. We most definitely had the best 5 days in Swakopmund and to put the cherry on top, our stay was amazing. Thank you

Villa Maji

The name ‘Maji’ was chosen because it means ‘water’ in Swahili, Africa’s most precious resource, and reflects the stunning ocean view that the guesthouse has to offer. Overlooking the Serengeti Plains 20 years ago, I had a dream of owning a small hotel in Africa. After managing hotels in Kenya, Arusha & Zanzibar, Tanzania and travelling throughout the African continent from Addis Ababa to Zimbabwe, Ghana, Togo & Morocco in between, I have finally fulfilled that dream in Swakopmund, Namibia. The journey took me from the Indian Ocean to the Atlantic Ocean, because I always longed for the sea. That is why I fell in love with Villa Maji’s location which offers stunning ocean views and hopefully… a little magic. Villa Maji's vision is to share our passion for Africa and exotic adventures throughout the continent with our guests.

The staff was very friendly and communicative. Would recommend for functions and stay again in the future. The rooms look great and spacious with nice views over the ocean. Sublime!

Driving up to Ai Aiba after a long day with dirt roads was such a breath of fresh air. It is charming and beautiful. It feels intimate and private and welcoming straight away, and the landscape is dynamic and gorgeous. The staff were incredibly kind. The food was delicious, the sundowner hike with drinks on the mountain was fun and stunning. The room is charming, well equipped, and comfortable. We were told by our agent that there isn't too much to do and one night would be enough but honestly we were so sad to wake up and leave early--we wanted to enjoy a leisurely day to reset and recharge with a walk around, some pool time, a good book, great food, and kind people. Strongly recommend if you want a nice place to reset!
